This hotel is tucked away from the road so really peaceful environment. I loved the ambience of the hotel as well as a nice foyer and dining area - and pool with a wonderful sea view if you walk to the end of the property. The apartments give you the option to cook and dine alone - so perfect for a quiet getaway. Really great service. The additional of the pan -African restaurant Kiza is just amazing - was lovely to eat dishes from the continent.

In the evening of the 25th of December, the dinner service at the restaurant was painfully slow and quite disorganized. It was evident that the restaurant was overwhelmed by the high turnover on Christmas Day. The waiters were doing their best, but they definitely need some training.

Kilua resort is fairly new and is situated on Shanzu beach. The hotel is built around a central area of swimming pools which are well-kept and very clean. The shallow swimming pools are a great attraction for families and children. The hotel rooms are very clean and comfortable, and we had a room on the 3rd floor with a great view of the pool area and the beach. Even though the hotel does not have a bar of its own, one can make use of the Flamingo cave bar next door (belonging to pride in Flamingo hotel, and located just one minute walk from the Kilua resort reception), which has superb views of the beach. The hotel provides shuttle services to the airport for a fee. The hotel staff are very welcoming all throughout - from the reception to the housekeeping staff and the concierge. Check-in was smooth. On our last day of stay, we were very pleased when the manager allowed us to have a room, since we had to vacate our 3- bedroom unit, but our flight out of Mombassa got delayed until late in the day. Breakfast includes a variety of options.

We noticed mold growing in one of the bathrooms.

It had a great pool and easy access to the beach. The rooms were spacious and the kitchen was excellent for preparing meals. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive. Free breakfast was a nice benefit for our family.

Our apartment had smaller but also some big issues which are dangerous especially for smaller children. The stair railing is not done properly so that children can fall down through large gaps onto the hard tiled floor from a height of more than 2,50 meters. I called reception to fix it but after looking at it nothing happened. Additionally next to the balcony in the master bedroom another gap exposes a similar safety issue but in this case one could fall out the window because a railing is missing. in the kitchen the (new) dishwasher gives electric shocks and also does not work.

It is overall a very good resort with spacious apartments and sea view. The pool is clean and the public beach is easily and directly reachable.

Dinning offerings were limited and expensive. Food needs to be ordered from outside as there are no affordable resturant option and resturant staff are uninterested about your needs.

The air conditioners are ineffective, this facility is not worth what they charge ...... it's a two star bed and breakfast! NO HOT WATER AND NOBODY CARES !

The location was great and amazing. so child friendly and nice for family. The personnel are friendly. I liked the swimming pool and the babies enjoyed sliding into the pool from the slide erected just in front of the pool. the rooms got a good view of the ocean and AC is amazingly cool giving a good counter of the coastal heat. I will be back in Kilua for longer!
