Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SingaporeThe futon could be thicker. The walls were a little thin and we could hear some noises from next door.
Warm and friendly staff; spacious, Japanese traditional room and the futon was comfortable to sleep on. We had dinner and breakfast there and the food was great (e.g., seasonal hairy crab, free flow ikura). The onsen was relaxing.

PolandFor some reason, I got charged 300 yen during check-out (150 per day) -- the staff said it was "onsen tax." It's my first time seeing this despite visiting many hotels and ryokans. Left a bit of a sour aftertaste because I was never warned in advance and not sure how they would count the days if I hadn't visited onsen daily. Some doorways were way too low, but that's probably a personal problem.
A very nice ryokan located right near a tram station. It's a bit far from the city center but the tram helps a lot. There was a choice between 2 onsens, a beautiful garden and a mini shrine in the hotel. I especially appreciated the futon laying-out service.

The fact that it was the only tattoo friendly onsen made it an easy choice, very well connected with the tram network serving delectable meals which are beautifully presented. Special thanks to the ladies at the gift shop on the ground floor for being very helpful in arranging for the transfer of my luggage.

United States of AmericaI thought I booked a room for 3 people, but they gave us 3 different rooms. I don't know if that was my mistake ? Did I pay extra for getting an extra 2 rooms? They didn't give me a refund or anything.
Hotel staff were very polite and helpful. It is very clean. I would like to stay there again.

SingaporePerhaps it was a holiday but the breakfast room gets quite crowded and there are kids making loud noises. But its a family place so I cannot really complain about it.
Breakfast spread was really good although the buffet was more or less the same every day.

RussiaI liked everything
I had the best sleep in YEARS, and I tried every climate, bed and pillow (okay, maybe not every, but I changed 16 countries/states in 2 last years). The whole place is just perfect: tattoo friendly public bath, tradition-inspired rooms. But the bed – is the true wonder! Thank you, Hanabishi team!

MalaysiaThe hotel was walking distance from the tram station, and it was easy to find the location. The breakfast spread and dinner provided was just amazing. We enjoyed it thoroughly. The futons provided were comfortable, and I enjoyed the onsen bath so much. The staff who served us greeted us warmly and she explained everything to us in detail.

breakfast was lovely , times to use the onsen were accommodating. From Hakodate station take tram number 5 and it’ll drop you off 3mins walk from the hotel. I forgot my charger and the hotel forwarded it to my next hotel free of charge. The staff were very nice and spoke good English. Chang was amazing and made my first ryokan stay a special one. The hotel does have a card machine, disregard what it says on booking.com.
