How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Facilities could be better. No air conditioning , fairly hot water . For the price it could have been better.
The place is clean. Good size bedroom and living room. Renovated building. Good location.

The host doesn’t speak good English, difficult communication, one day no hot/warm water. For 6 days never changed towels, linens or bins, for the price we paid I think they should do it. I don’t recommend it.
Location is good, we had a bottle of water, wine and some coffee pots for free

It could do with an information book ie attractions, restaurants, numbers etc.

The bed is horrible and needs an upgrade to something comfortable and more sturdy. The couch had a loose arm, the sandwich maker was missing the clip and the property could use a toaster.

Bedside sockets did not work, TV was very poor, kept turning off and glitching. Confusing shower controls, wasn’t labelled properly.
Great location, close to popular tourist attractions. Good facilities for cooking food (full kitchen) and good bathroom facilities. Free amenities provided with the stay.

The apartment itself needs a little TLC. Everything was fine, but the age of kitchen is visible, curtains.
Location was excellent. Almost everything is within walking distance plus great restaurants in vicinity.

Could have some more blankets for sheets for the beds as it could get chilly during the night and was a thin sheet but this wasn’t a significant issue at all and was still comfortable and a lovely stay
The property was in a good central location and was very clean and well presented. It exceeded expectations and had lots of facilities and everything you could ask for. Was comfortable and spacious. Would go again and recommend for the amount of space and facilities you get for the price. Much better than other hotels we considered. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful

The sofa bed is comfortable but is a bit noisy when you move
Less than 15 minute walk to the colosseum and Trevi Fountain. Close to the train station and easy to get around everyone we wanted to go

There was no door handle or lock in the bathroom, which was a little disappointing. Also, there was the presence of mould in the bathroom.
Very good location, walking distance to all attractions, comfortable beds, washing machine was handy, good air conditioning. Overall, it was very good and we would stay again

There was a bit of a language barrier with checking in, but it all worked out :) the counters and are a little damaged and worn, but that didnt affect us
Location is great. Very close to the colloseum! Big bed and working air conditioning! Felt safe.

Not easy to communicate with Host, misunderstanding about payment which was paid in advance by myself, but the Host eventually phoned his Manager and it became clear to him then that I had indeed already paid for the appt via Booking.com, and only had to pay him the City Tax. So all was fine in the end. Disappointed that there was NO hot tub as mentioned under descriptions, and NO slippers as also mentioned under descriptions.
Liked the fact that the appt was private and quiet, good size, perfect for family or friends. nice to have a supermarket right over the other side of the road. Bus stop just up the road and plenty cafes and bars in the area.

While spotlessly clean, the apartment is not as well maintained as it could be. There were several minor repairs needed in the bathroom...
