Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandOur room was very clear, but equipment was quite old. Big minus for the window- we didn’t have any view, there was only a wall outside the window (even in the middle of the day we had to turn on the light- because of the wall it was very dark inside the room).
Owner is friendly, everything was super clear. We’ve been there for 1 week, in the middle of our stay we received new towels. Location is great, close to the Old Town, grocery store, bus stop and ferry port.

SlovakiaThis apartment is without a balcony or terrace. I guess I haven't realized that until we were accommodated. It is no fault of the owner I must have missed the info.
Appartment was clean and tidy, and the new bathroom was great. It is exactly the way you see in pics. The apartment is located near one of the Dubrovnik schools and it is up hill. But everything is Dubrovnik is up hill so no complaints there :)

United KingdomI guess this is very persona opinion but pillow and mattress were too soft.
The host were very kind, we were lucky and easily found parking in front of the apartment but the hostlady offered to move her own one for us. The apartment was spotless and has all crockery and cutlery can be needed and the bathroom was very good too.

GermanyWe stayed for 6 nights at Villa Ivka and we had mixed feelings about this place. On one hand, the location of the villa is quite convenient: it’s only 5 min walk from the Bellevue beach and 20-25 min walk from the old town. There is a nice terrace and a private entrance. On the other hand, the host was not very hospitable when we arrived and during the whole stay. We had a little favor to help us to drive our luggage only up the hill, which is a 3 min drive and the host said that she doesn’t drive (the next day we saw her driving as if she magically learned how to drive in 1 night). I mean why would you lie to your guests who can potentially come to you for the next vacation? She also refused to call a taxi for us when I kindly asked her. I got an impression of the whole conversation as if I owned money to this woman lol The mother of this woman is a nice old lady Ivka who, unfortunately, doesn’t speak English (we’d prefer to communicate rather with her). So it was very hard to communicate with a host if you need anything. The studio was very dirty and the woman told us that we are the first guests this season. It seemed like they didn’t clean it since the last summer. The floor was so dirty like in the coalmine (no kidding) and we had to clean it a bit by ourselves. The kitchen has a very limited cutlery set, and the cooking stove is heating very slowly (probably an old one). Unfortunately, this host is only focused on earning money and they don’t care about their guests. No one asked us if everything is all right during our stay. It’s a pity because with a little more afford and kindness this place would look completely on a different level. So far I don’t recommend this place in Dubrovnik.

PolandDirty bathroom, mold in the shower cabin. The hosts living in the same building, upstaires. Old lady (host) keep watching on you. Last day, before chekout, she stared at us from 9am and walked around making sure that we are packing. We were there only 2 days. Very noisy, from 7-8am we heard everything they do upstairs.
Nice terrace and location 7min away to a baech.

PortugalThe owner was a lovely lady and even though she could not speak English she tried her best to answer to all our questions. The location is good, you can reach the Old Town in 20 minutes walk or 5 minutes by Ubber. There is a lovely beach less than 10 minutes walking.
