I really liked the location of the hostel. It was very convinient to get around and also had great opportunities for buying a snack or a breakfast nearby. Also the hostel offered very helpful services such as lokal simcards to rent as well as the octopuscard. I would totally recommend staying there!

Living in shared dormitory really depends on your roommate but that is out of the control of the hostel owner.

The bathroom outside is big and clean. The staffs are very helpful even before checking in. The location is superb with close distance to airport shuttle bus and mtr station. It is a great hostel if you would like to understand the day to day of a Hong Konger living in To Kwa Wan, an old neighbourhood that has some of the hidden gem restaurants that are still unknown by tourists.

the air conditioner motor is running so loudly in the room, especially next to your bed, that it is almost impossible to sleep. I think the hostel needs to think about this point.

The lack of storage for large bags or suitcases in the room was a bit of an issue. The location of the hostel was a bit far from the main things to do in Hong Kong but the MTR was very handy since it was no too far a walk.

The atmosphere of the hostel is very cosy. The staff was very friendly and very eager to help with transport, simcard and octopus card. The rooms are very nice and privacy is respected. Common room was small but well equipped.

I personally could feel the springs in the mattress, so that wasn’t the most comfortable to me. Sadly I also had a girl in my room that snored LOUD!! Nothing the accommodation could do about. But after speaking to other people in the room we realised that everyone who was on the top bed, same as this girl, had it way worse than the people on the bottom. So noise definitely travels across the room.

I got a very informative message before I arrived, with detailed instructions on which bus I could take from the airport to the hostel and at which stop I should get off (little extra information that I didn’t know, those busses have wifi!) It was a very spacious room with a bathroom attached which was very nice. I honestly loved the location, lots of food places around and very easy to get from one place to another with all the busses and metro.

People have different schedules, some snore, some do work at night with laptop light on. So if you are not used to the lively dorm life or are a light sleeper, you can get some earplugs from the staff. Otherwise dorms may not be for you! The Mahjong was great! Thanks.

Super convenient, clean and affordable hostel in Kawloon area. In walking range to the metro, as well as easy reach by bus from the airport (just get the oyster card, or if u didn't buy one you can get it at the hostel). Staff is friendly and will help out with useful tips. Toilet and shower areas are clean. Bed was comfy and didn't have any bedbugs. Bed has a card lockable storage option, no lock needed. Good AC/USB sockets at the top of the bed.

Could be a challenge to climb bunk bed for my height of 162cm.

Close to To Kwa Wan MTR and bus stop. Ease of access to kitchen, drinking water, and toilet. 711 Circle K Wellcome and local restos are downstairs. Get that egg waffle even late at night nearby food stall at the bus stop 105.

The weather was relatively warm at night in February during my stay, the AC was located nearer to the window and did not seem to be working too well, so the beds closer to the door were not as cool nor ventilated.

The place is well-located via various modes of transport to many places to visit in Hong Kong. The nearby To Kwa Wan MTR station (~5 minutes walk) makes travelling around via the MTR network much more convenient. In addition, there are various dining options in the surrounding areas (including, for example, the walk between the hostel and the MTR station) during most times of the day, so there should not be much of a concern with finding a decent dining option.

The Staff is friendly and helpfull. A plus point is also that the Hostel is next to the Busstation who brings you to the Airpot. Around the hostel are different good food places. The WiFi is working well.

Slightly hard to locate

Hostel was comfy and clean, provided good facilities and services like towels, a safe to store your important belongings, charging pod next to bed, and Octopus card (transport card) for rent. Accessible to nearby MTR stop and has a direct bus connecting the hostel to airport. Good value for money considering Hong Kong accommodation prices.

The pillow was a bit too soft for my liking. The safe provided with the bed was quite annoying to consistently lock and I would inadvertently disturb other guests with the beeps it would make. Some of the guests were also quite loud in their sleep but I didn't realize that the front desk actually provided ear plugs until much later.

The toilets were clean and had plenty of provided toiletries. I really appreciated the little dry storage container in the shower cells to be able to keep my clothes and other valuables dry. The atmosphere of the common area was warm and inviting. The blanket provided with the bed was very comfy and thick which was excellent for the cold nights. The staff at the front desk was friendly and very patient even though I arrived very late due to a delayed flight.

The rooms were slightly noisy and the shared bathrooms could have been bigger and cleaner but overall it was still acceptable.

The Mahjong is an international guesthouse situated in a local-yet-convenient-and-central location in Hong Kong. Situated close to the MTR metro station you can visit kowloon downtown, hong kong island or the new territories in just under 30min. the area around the hostel is not touristy, bustling with activity, local cafes and breakfast places, yet it is much quieter than staying around Central for example (especially at night). The staff was super friendly and had many visit suggestions, were very understanding, and was always here to help. The locker in the room was quite big.

Bed stairs not convenient, should be very careful while climbing. Roll curtain is half transparent and makes loud noise.

I felt safe and relaxed here. Good location just next to the airport shuttle bus stop. Bed and showers were super clean. Shower fully equipped. Staff helps with a luggage. Has small kitchen zone with nice view.
