How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Our favourite hostel we’ve stayed in over 3 months travelling! The staff were so helpful, and the ladies who clean all day and serve breakfast were absolutely amazing. The communal spaces and shared bathrooms were super clean at all times. The bed was so comfy and the huge upstairs terrace areas were perfect for relaxing during the day.

We chose to be on the first floor to be early check-in, but being on the first floor you'll hear people coming in/out at all hours and can hear them making breakfast since you'll be by the kitchen (which is fine since I was awake anyways). Just beware if you're a light sleeper. The wifi was shotty too, it was connecting and disconnecting constantly which was frustrating but not the end of the world.
The location was really good, Antigua is a small town so I think there's nowhere you could be that isn't a walkable area. The breakfast that's provided is really delicious (7:30am-9am) and a little different every day, and they had shuttles/tours which we were able to book which helped. We used the shuttle to the airport and shuttle to Panajachel. Also used them to do a Pacaya day hike which was great since they picked up and dropped off in front of the hostel as well. The staff overall was great and were super helpful.

It got a little hot in the rooms because they didnt have AC, just fans but we were able to sleep okay still.
The staff were really great and helpful - Brenda in particular was brill! The chilled hammock areas were lovely. It was quiet at night and felt very safe. The beds were comfy and it was really nice to have the option of breakfast in the mornings. Great place to stay if you want to relax after the Volcano trek.

Really friendly staff, awesome breakfast choices. Beautiful courts and rooftops, nice rooms just a bit small with all the luggage. Always closed and walkable trough a travel agency. 24h secured

Nothing not to like.
Our room was compact but comfortable with a shared bathroom next door. We enjoyed the breakfast and the lovely surroundings in which to eat it. We made use of the travel agency offered through reception.

Cosy, clean hostel, the staff were friendly and really helpful. We also ordered a shared shuttle to the airport from the hostel which was really convenient.

The rooms and (some) beds are very small, a bit impractical for a backpacker and especially for a tall European like myself (190cm)
Lovely personnel and very helpful. Very good looking hostel, and very clean! They also offer many different activities and shuttles.

The main hallway upstairs gets a lot of traffic during most hours, so it made sleeping in one of these rooms a bit difficult. There is not much that could be done to solve this, but maybe a different flooring could make it less noisy.
The staff was incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful. They were reassuring when I arrived exhausted and overwhelmed, offered help in finding places to stay on my way out of Guatemala and arranged a shuttle for myself and my friend during the Holy Week celebrations. The rooms, bathrooms and common areas were all clean and well-kept. I felt as safe and comfortable as I possibly could have. I ended up staying an additional night at the end of my time in Antigua as I was very pleased with everything here.
