Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GuatemalaMy room was next to the reception, so it was quite nosy until about 21h. It didn’t bother me though, so I have no complaints.
The staff is very sweet and helpful. I slept like a baby in their comfy bed and the breakfast the next day was also good. Location was good as well.

United StatesThe streets can be noisy in the city center where the hotel is located. I wish there was a view, but there is not however, the garden is lovely and has of you as soon as you step outside your door.
The breakfast was exceptional every morning getting to eat right in the garden just outside my room. I even got breakfast to go a couple days and that was fine with them.

CanadaEverything about this place was incredible - the bed was so comfy and the room was so clean. But the best thing was the staff. I arrived after a long bus ride and messaged the owner about where I could grab food so late. Everywhere was closed but someone went and grabbed something for me from a place that was open - it was so kind and thoughtful. Such sweet owners :)

GermanyThe only thing which stopped me from giving a ten, was that I could hear the street and it was pretty cold during the night. But I am more sensitive at this then others and would still recommend this hotel to everyone.
Very nicely renovated rooms in vintage style. Very clean and comfortable. Very nice owner. Also very nice breakfast with a great view to the city center.

IsraelThere isn't yet a sign, so it was a bit hard to find. Just go straight to the location that Oscar sends you
Oscar did an incredible job making us feel as comfortable as it gets. The facility looks brand new and well maintained. The room was super clean! Breakfast was great, and the place is just a few minutes walk from the central park. Would definitely return:)

BelgiumIt's a relatively new hotel so there was no signage outside when we were there, so slightly hard to find. Also, it gets cold in Xela at night time during the dry season, so the rooms can get a bit chilly, but the cosy beds make up for it!
Very lovely hotel with beautiful interior decor. Beds were incredibly comfortable and it has a lovely interior garden that is a great place to have breakfast. It's within walking distance of the centre of town. It's clean and fresh and the staff are very helpful.

United StatesThe food was awful. Coffee was cold and more like coffee water. They brought cheap white toast and cut up fruit and some sliced avocado. There were no eggs or beans or a hot breakfast. I repeat Coffee was the worst. They need to either learn how to make coffee or buy better quality. After all, this is the land of coffee. Also, there were people talking loud outside my room until late.
The room and bed were spacious and I loved the sofa in the room to relax on. The bed was very very comfortable and the water in the shower was very hot and bathroom spacious as well.

United StatesSo much street noise! Staff left ear plugs, so that was nice, but we are not used to the traffic and thin walls. I would recommend adding a front desk and fixing up a lobby area. Also, there needs to be a sign outside. Our driver had a hard time finding. I think this family has a good start and hope they continue with some improvements.
Our room was beautiful - new King mattress, all updated bathroom, quaint decor. Breakfast was exceptional. So much fresh fruit! Staff speaks no English, but made efforts to help us.

United StatesBecause I was only in Quetzaltenango for 3 days, I was looking for a hotel. After all, it is called "Hotel Vintage Rialto". I never would have stayed here had I known it was a "home stay". Some of the drawbacks I would have avoided with a hotel: - Mostly because it lacks a sign, it is difficult from drivers to find. I arrived in the rain and was knocking at the wrong door, because of the confusion. - Lack of fixed schedule for breakfast. Of my three days, I wasn't able to eat a single of my "included" breakfasts. - WiFi-Friendliness: Their WiFi password should have been written down and available in my room. Instead I had to make 4 trips to the owners quarters to get my two devices attached. They have enough hardware (Wifi repeaters). All they have to do it provide the written password at check-in. - Lots of street noise. They offer ear plugs, but I would rather have a quiet hotel than a noisy hotel with ear plugs.
The room was a beautiful restoration of a traditional city house, with the exposed stone construction and beautiful wooden floors, with an impeccable modern bathroom. The owner was very flexible, allowing me to shift my stay by one day (after an injury), and then shift back to my original day again (after a speedy recovery). Kudos for his flexibility!
