Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaThe pool didn’t seem that clean or well maintained, but there’s a whole lake close by for swimming.
Great spot for backpackers and travellers of all ages and interests.

SwitzerlandFor the price the dorm could have been better, it was noisy with a load sliding door and shaky metal beds.
Loved the huge property that offered a lot nice places to be like at the pool. Also the CoWorking Area was amazing. Breakfast was included with my booking and was delicious.

NorwayThe area around the pool (and the pool itself) could have been cleaned a bit more often.
The staff were really helpful. The sign of great customer service is the way staff react to problems. We had a couple of problems that the reception staff solved quickly and efficiently. The place has a great vibe and the restaurant served pretty good food too!

CanadaThe pool was not clean so we couldn’t use it and they could do with new towels, the ones we got were frayed and had permanent stains.
Good location, vibe, atmosphere. Great laundry service. The staff is great, specially the guys at the bar/restaurant.

United States of AmericaThe pool was under renovations when I arrived, and then the work to finish it was done in the overnight hours, literally from midnight to 4 in the morning. That was odd, and irritating. The management should have disclosed that it would happen. Made it more than a little difficult to sleep. Also - offer better, stronger Guatemalan coffee!
The location is excellent - just minutes from the dock to grab a lancha to explore Lake Atitlan. It's like an oasis in Panajachel. Good vibe with the other guests

BelgiumSwimming pool was not well maintained. The bathroom had a fluffy smell. As it is close to the street, it’s kind of noisy in the morning.
Location was good, as it is close to the harbor. Breakfast was good. it has very spacious rooms.

GreecePlease know that Selina is openly supporting the IDF that is committing genocide in Gaza. During my stay, I saw a flyer about a concert organised by Selina, stating that all profits would be given to the IDF (so it can have more bombs to drop on children). I did not know this about the chain before, but I will not be staying at their hostels again. The staff working in Atitlan were lovely though.
The staff was amazing and really helpful when I showed up needing special accommodation due to an injury. The lady at the reception was able to help me change my reservation and move to a more accessible room, which was a lovely place.

United KingdomWe did have cockroaches in our room (it wasn’t dirty, perhaps just the location of our room at the end of the garden area) and I’d of liked the option to do my own laundry as some of my clothes have unfortunately shrank through laundry service
Room was very spacious and shower facilities good. Pool area was nice although sun loungers need updating and pool was green. Bar area nice and staff friendly. Good location in Pana

Germany- Long waiting times at reception - Taxes not included - Pool under construction, so a lot of noise - Loud music all day long - Rather expensive - Very hot and stuffy 8-bed dorms I think it's a great hostel if you are the type of person for having a drink at the pool with music on. It you are looking for a quiet place, this is not it.
- Beautiful designs - Really comfortable beds - Nice staff - Great 4 bed dorms - Spacious bathrooms

United States of AmericaI wasn’t even offered a towel, had dinner at the restaurant and it was not tasty (under cooked veggies in a Buddha bowl), no toilet paper in the morning! The 8 bed dorms shared 1 bathroom and there was no extra toilet paper.

BrazilThe hostel has loud music playing constantly in the common areas, uninterrupted from 8 am to 10 pm. So if you're someone who appreciates silence, don't stay at Selina
The location is great. A 10-minute walk from the hostel takes you to Santander Street (Calle Santander), one of the main streets in Panajachel, and less than 5 minutes from the pier where you can catch a boat to visit the other villages around Lake Atitlan.

United KingdomThere was just one person in the reception for so many guest, it was always busy we have to queue for long in checkings times, even to ask her sth was difficult to reach her always you have to queue. I think they have to put another person in the reception, minimum 2 person . There were so many dogs around inside the hostel, everywhere, nobody put them outside, I saw a dog doing wee in the leg of the hamacks ,and 2 of them fighting , they have illnesses to tramsmit, they should protect the guests.
The decorations are great, the garden amazing, the swimming pool very nice, rooms good.

United States of AmericaI wish Selinas in general were adult only. There were small children that were loud and distracting, especially when trying to work. One cried for hours during the night. If Selina would consider making all properties minimum ages of 16 or 18 it'd be perfect.
Beautiful and clean hotel. I stayed in a suite which was expensive but an absolutely huge and beautiful space with a fridge, microwave, coffee maker and kettle. The coworking space is great, as is the pool area, restaurant and common kitchen. It's a great property with awesome staff.

AustraliaDo NOT book any tours or transfer at reception, it's way too overpriced (as well as food). Just walk across the street to a tour agency, or walk 3-5 minutes to the main tourist street to find others.
