How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. The room had a very intense smell of humidity, it was very annoying for the whole night

It can be quite confusing, as there is the main building of the hotel and suites and then the guest room which is clearly less keen on offering the equal elaborate hospitality as the former. The rooms were quite hot, without an AC available, thankfully they provided us with a fan, after asking for it. There is clear lack of plugs, which might seem trivial, but in a room booked for 3 people it ended up being quite an issue. Finally, the guest room has no Wi-Fi. They were kind to offer us the Wi-Fi in the main building, but you still can’t use it in your room.
The location is excellent as well as the building itself. The staff was helpful and friendly and the best surprise by far was the luscious breakfast spread.

Not a luxury room, but ideal for an overnight stay. Very good price for an overnight stay.

We were a bit disappointed with the absence of a bath, as mention of a bath was the reason for us to chose this hotel. The present shower was really small. There was no good way to mount the shower head and no space to move without getting the curtain to stick to your body.
The included breakfast was delicious and exceeded our expectations. The same holds true for the location as it was on a nice and quiet spot in the heart of the centre with a good view of the Sea and city below

I espacially put 7 because the room and bathroom are old. Too bad
The receptionist is very welcoming, thanks to him. I appreciated he allowed me to park my motorcycle in the courtyard of the entrance, and that's really great, my bike in a safe place +++++ Otherwise, when I wanted to take a shower there was no hot water. When I told him, he immediately contacted a technician, and an hour later I had hot water and was able to take a shower. He came to tell me in person when the hot water was working. Breakfast is good and there is a choice of sweet and salty

No WiFi. Small and old style bathroom.
Amazing area and very helpful and kind staff despite the last minute booking. Great buffet breakfast with a fantastic view over the gulf.

WiFi available only at the hotel. There is no signal at the apartments which are part of the complex.
The place is located at the center of the village near all the attractions and restaurants.

No heating in the room in late spring with fresh weather (May-9 degrees in the night), floor not clean, towels in bad condition

The original description gives the idea that there is free parking offered which is far from the truth (Portaria is a very difficult place to find parking lots so this was supposedly a decisive factor to book our room in the first place). Our Check-in process lagged for at least half an hour although we had clearly mentioned the time of our arrival. The rooms (which were not part of the main hotel but another stone house nearby) were not particularly clean and less than basic in their facilities. Contrary to the description provided there was no balcony and no heating available! All in all, I found the price was too much for what was eventually offered.
Portaria is a wonderful picturesque village, always happy to visit. We enjoyed breakfast at the main hotel's veranda which offers an amazing view

Although the room was clean, it had very basic and old furniture. The mattress was a bit less comfortable than expected.
Super friendly, well trained professional staff. Clean room. Partial view to the village. Central and very convenient location. Easy parking.

NO A/C BAD BREAKFAST
The worst service ever. No A/C in 2021 for a 3star acommodation, this is not acceptable. In the booking platform it is not written anywhere that there is no A/C. Very poor breakfast
