Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaNothing, a perfect 10
The property is stunning, clean lines, minimal aesthetic and wonderful location. The room was huge and the beds really comfortable. The staff are incredible, and the food, specifically breakfast is amazing. It's included in the price, which is usually an indicator that you will get the same menu every day. Not here, every breakfast was a different variety of delicious local cuisine. We booked the spa for an hour and had the Finnish sauna and plunge pools to ourselves. We looked at many options but I'm really glad we chose this one. Thanks everyone at Carpe Diem.

United KingdomTo use the gym was an extra charge. The evening meal at Exaltis, was of high quality but main courses very small. Being charged €6 for accompanying bread on a €145 meal, was also a little surprising. The swimming pool only had limited access hours. After a massive thunderstorm, we had considerable water ingress in our suite, there was no apology. At these prices, hotel transfers should really be included.
The property was in a lovely spot and kept spotlessly clean. Staff were all extremely helpful and polite. Breakfast was superb.

United KingdomSteep hill to climb to go to the village. Restaurant was good but very expensive. 16 euros charge for breakfast in the room was also expensive given that it is a small boutique hotel

United Kingdom- Room service charge of 7EUR for ordering food is a rip off for a 5* hotel, same counts for cappuccino/coffee selection for breakfast which was 5EUR extra - Room service brought food but didn’t pick up empty plates from outside terrace for like 12h - Flexibility of hotel was very limited, we requested late check out but weren’t able to stay couple of hours longer unless we paid 150EUR – all other 5* hotels we had during our trip in Greece were flexible with this - Overall more 4* hotel I have to say
- Swimming Pool for each room is clearly a luxury - Breakfast quality overall good with fresh selection of products - Receptionist was super friendly and welcome drink was really nice - Location has great view

United KingdomLet down by an average breakfast not supported by enough staff. One waitress for 4-5 tables isn't enough, she was running around and people were left waiting. Also the breakfast menu selection is not up to the standard you would expect for a top hotel.
Lovely hotel in a great location at the foot of tranquil Pyrgos. The hotel has a calm atmosphere and the rooms were fine, each with its own little swimming pool. Good staff but see below re the breakfast.

United KingdomThe bed was very uncomfortably hard. So we’re the pillows. Breakfast was poor and you are squeezed to pay for anything additionally even things like espresso or cappuccino. Even though it was from 8 in the morning, it was impossible to get any food before 8:20. No sign what so ever to find the hotel. Lunch food average for the price they charge. The airco wasn’t working properly. Gym was closed apparently due to COVID but I don’t see a reason why we couldn’t use it privately and it would be cleaned after ? Although we got two yoga mats to use, thank you for that.
Very friendly stuff and responsive to your wishes. Gorgeous spacious very comfortable room with a private pool. Lots of privacy Beautiful 180 degree view. Comfortable easy parking at the property. Everything super clean.

GermanyMy biggest issue was they would charge for little things. E.g. you order a drink at the bar and the 2 min walk to ya room for the bartender the hotel will charge you a room service fee. I could have brought my drinks to my room myself as I went down to order from bar myself. As your paying a lot for the hotel you expect this not to happen. Location was not close to any attractions and the drive up to location was not spectacular.
Property was super clean and overall a chilled ambience. Generally hotel is amazing.

Canadafood and drinks at restaurant were very expensive. the sun shade made the balcony very dirty after a humid night. the balcony didn’t get cleaned while I stayed aside from wiping the table. I had spoken to a staff member at the front desk the night before I left and mentioned I’d have to come down and check out at 330am the next day. I was under the impression that the front desk was open 24/7. when I went down there was no one there, no one answered the phone when I called either. I almost missed my flight as I called several taxi companies before one finally answered.
the location was amazing. most of the staff were exceptional. having extra experiences available at your fingertips via the in room suit pad was really great.
