Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLovely round hut with comfortable bed and mozzie net and lovely walk-in bathroom. Nice verandah to sit out. Very quiet and relaxed and Little and her staff were helpful and accommodated all we wanted. Breakfast was good. Check out the chicken curry for dinner. Great location 5 mins walk to the wonderful Santosha beach bar - relax there on sunbeds in the day enjoying Babou's delicious smoothies. Return in the evening to take in the warmth of the fire and the rhythmical drumming under huge African starry skies.

UkraineThis is a wonderful, cozy place in the lap of nature. Аway from the noisy tourist places. We stayed 3 nights, and now we really regret not staying longer (so we are already thinking about the next trip to The Gambia to this place). A couple of minutes from the loft, there is a beautiful, almost deserted beach and a bar with incredible sunsets. And there is an incredible staff here who is ready to help with any little thing. Very tasty and fresh dishes are prepared by their chefs.

United StatesNo complaints.
Little and her staff offer excellent hospitality and service. The property is serene, tucked away in the forest with only the sounds of the wind, birds and distant surf. The accommodation is clean and comfortable, though know that the shower water is tepid. The beach is a five-minute walk away. It is wide and extends for miles. There are little places where you can relax, purchase fresh juices and food. The meals are prepared to order, so let the staff know ahead of time what you'd like and when. Especially recommended are the shrimps in onion sauce. Little's also provides an excellent base for birdwatching in the Kartong area. Little's also is appealing in that it lacks the commercial feel of some of the larger and more expensive places.

United KingdomOur room (with ensuite WC and shower) abutted accommodation occupied by staff: terrible snoring! Non-shared "huts" are available - a better choice. The plastic waste on the beach is very distressing. Meals were always rather late (so walk before you eat!).
Secluded, shaded lodge that feels safe. Simple accommodation and a good choice simple meals - local recipes and ingredients. Not far from the beach. Very few people; peaceful. Good for birding: lots of ospreys (in February).

United KingdomI prefer softer mattress; but I’m sure that could’ve been arranged - I was being typically Swedish and not saying anything; but still might be good to know the mattresses are pretty firm.
The most tranquil little oasis. The beautiful people that work there put you right at ease; cooking wonderful food; offering any help; and just generally creating the peaceful atmosphere in this beautiful garden five min from the sea.

I can't choose one thing I liked the most cause everything and everyone were amazing. The hospitality, the environment, the food (thank you, Adama), the accomodation. I want to congratulate Little and Matthias because they should be proud of what they are building together.

NetherlandsJust small things, like adding a few extra hooks in the bathroom or a wardrobe that can be closed. Although I kept my clothes in the suitcase, which is fine as well ;). A floorpuller to dry the floor after having a shower or a small hook on the screen door to close it more easily. A reasonable stack of toiletpaper in the room would be good as well.
Searching for rest and nature this is the place to be! The retreat has an enormous variety of trees and birds. It's only a short walk to the spacious beach and lovely sea, which has a very nice temperate in this time of the year. If you're looking for luxury, don't expect the usual (European) standards, but for us running cold water and electricity are fine in this warm climate. Beds are fine and there's a mosquito net above the beds, so you don't need to bring your own. The team, consisting of the cook, the gardener and the cleaner are so nice. Adama, the cook, offers a good breakfast (included), lunch and diner. Just order upfront because it's all freshly bought. Little is managing the place and arranged two bikes for us to get to Kartung, which is a nice ride to a typical African village. Here you can change Euro's into Dalasi, easy for paying with the locals. Little accepts Euro's. On the Folongoroad between Little's and Kartung you'll find a supermarket and laundry.

PolandI loved everything!
I loved everything—the place, the friendly stuff, the host, the nature. We came here after our friend recommended it to us, and we were not disappointed. The breakfasts were very nice, and the food in general was amazing. The Retreat is in a place that is 5 minutes walking distance from a BEAUTIFUL beach and a nice beach bar. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. Do not hesitate if you are looking for a genuine experience. It is so peaceful!

PolandThe only thing I want to warn against - the beaches are very dirty and littered. I did not dare to go into the water.
A few houses located in a beautiful garden, a kind hostess, delicious cuisine, birds singing all day and night, funny dogs accompanying you every step of the way Possibility to buy additional excursions, laundry, restaurant on site, good wifi. If you are looking for peace, unhurried rest, a truly African climate and hospitality - this place is perfect for you. If you care about the proximity of civilization, shops, beach infrastructure - look for another place.

NetherlandsUnderstand that accommodation is modest, and this is not a "resort" experience. This is what makes it so special. The Kartung area is not particularly developed with tourist infrastructure. Again, this is a reason to go, as an independent traveller looking to escape the resorts further north.
Our stay at Little's was very special. We were practically the only guests, and welcomed more like friends or family. The location is well out of the tourist-mad Senegambia area, and really did feel like a retreat. The restaurant at Nemasu lodge was a lovely walk down the empty beach. Breakfast was wonderful every morning, and we also had dinner each night, of delicious fresh fish, cooked in the outdoor kitchen. Little has a guide on staff to bring tourists out on fishing trips on the river.

We had a lovely and beautiful stay at Littles. There is a breathtaking beach, with awesome sunsets and a cosy bar to relax at the beach during the daytime. United KingdomThis was by far our favorite place we stayed in Gambia. The location was absolutely fantastic. A three minute walk down a path owned by the lodge to the beach, which was also the best beach in Gambia! That’s not just my opinion, but many other websites and travel books will tell you the same. The owner Little and her husband were absolutely fantastic and the staff were equally as good. We had such a warm welcome, and really didn’t want to leave. They arranged a fishing trip for us where we caught lots of fish that they cooked for us that evening. They also arranged a cooking lesson, which was lots of fun. I can highly recommend staying in this place. It ticks all the boxes. we shall definitely return. Thank you to all the staff at Little Natures Retreat. From Sam and Emily. Wales 🏴

Kind and helpful people and the place with the best food I had in Gambia ...made by Little. Very welcoming and relaxing off the touristy places at the northern coast. Facilities are simple but clean you have all you need. Short walk to the beach. You can spot a lot of animals all around. Greetings to y'all and thanks a lot for hosting me!

SwedenUnbelievable how welcoming this place and the staff were. If you want clean, simple calm and relaxing and good food this is the place to be. There is a 2-3 minute walk to the beach, where you are mostly alone, with the exception of a few locals that walk by every now and them. As is in Gambia, they will most definitely talk to you. If you like fishing ask them to arrange a fishing trip and then bring back the catch for BBQ,. Around here there is also a lots of birds to see around this area. Next time in the Gambia I will go straight to Little's place. If they don't have a place for me I will sleep on the beach and go in for Domoda every single meal :)

Our host (Little) and the stuff were really lovely, kind and helpful. She helped us with all our inquiries. Helped us with tours in and around the Gambia. She even took us to a local concert with her. And she's an amazing cook. 🥰🤩 The facilities are clean. The place is away from Serreku da and the "touristy places". It's quiet and you don't get harassed into buying something or forced to sit in someone's juice bar 🙄 We absolutely loved it.
