Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe size of the bathroom is small. Similar to the cabin bathroom size on a cruise ship. There isn't a mini fridge in the room. Guests can use the communal fridge located in the outside dining patio. Not a big deal but for those that drive a car, there is only space to park maximum 3 cars in their gated court yard. They are located on a quiet street so cars can also park on side of road
The staff is friendly and respectful. Whatever we needed, the staff was willing to assist us. Our room was a nice size and was very clean. They do have a safe in the room. There was a window AC which I used at night. The breakfast they offered was made to order omelette, tea, coffee, the local made bread, corn flakes cereal, seasonal fruit plate. They also have butter, jam, peanut butter etc.. The pool is cleaned daily. It is not too big but it is deep. There are a few mini markets and restaurants within walking distance. We felt at home here and I would stay again.

United KingdomDabo house was a true gem. I truly believe my holiday was enhanced by my stay at Dabo House!!! I loved the location!!! The sunrise on the roof terrace was breath taking!! The staff were amazing - especially Mr Saleef who made our stay so much more comfortable!! He was always there to assist with advice and more! He made the best Ataya tea for us to drink!! He was a true and generouse host!!! I cant imagine staying anywhere else whilst on holiday to the Gambia!!! Having tea and talking to staff made me feel at home!!! They sorted out Taxi drivers at good prices for me! They even carried my luggage across the sand a few minutes down the road!!! If you want a lovely, authentic and safe experience then upon you is this Beautiful Hotel! The pictures they have up on bookings.com does no justice! The Hotel is suprisingly charming!!! The price was also incredible for what they offered!!! They had air con which I never ecpected at this price. They also had back up generator to keep lights on and fan incase of the untimely local black outs. 10/10 could not score any better!!! A truly lovely experience!!! Thank you Saleef and Dabo House!!!!

GermanyYou get power cut sometimes but that is normal in the Gambia, and they have a generator in case of long power cuts.
We had a wonderful time at Dabo House. They are close to the beach, have a pool, free wifi, AC and a fan (for some hotels you have to pay extra for those) and breakfast was included. The staff was very attentive and the room was clean and comfortable. The location is good because it is not the touristy area so you are not harassed by people trying to sell you stuffs.

Germanysmoking on the compound is not allowed. Which is fair enough, but as a woman standing in a small road at night on my own is very uncomfortable. maybe a designated smoking area at certain times would be a solution?
the staff was amazing! very friendly and very accommodating. they even allowed us to check out a little later and helped find a taxi. Breakfast was delicious and freshly prepared. Everything was squeaky clean!

SenegalAll is good.
Property, staff and breakfasts are awesome. Clean, light and airy. The terrace furniture is especially comfortable when you want to enjoy outdoors. If you choose to have dinner there, Salif is an excellent chef. It's a wonderful place to relax and the atmosphere is perfect. If you're thinking about working while you're there you're going to need to be very disciplined because the place encourages fun and relaxation more than working. Though the space in the dining area provides a good laptop area. Get a djembe or kora lesson while you're at Dabo house. You won't regret it. Also, when you need a cab, let them know and they'll call a trusted cabbie for you. Reduces the haggle hassle on the street. The mini market is a 2-minute walk and is well-stocked. You get a shelf in the fridge at Dabo House so it's a good place to keep drinks and such.

This place has a perfect location for pretty much everything, 15 minutes walk to the beach, supermarkets and restaurants are really close. But I prefer Salifs yummy food almost every evening! Salif, Amara and Mohamed are true gems who can help you with whatever you need, the owners are really nice also. I stayed in room 2, and the bed is so comfy! Toilet and shower is good. I love the pool area also. And all peace and quiet this place give. Really it is your home in Africa!

The staff are friendly and helpful , special thanks to Salif for looking after us and Yanmara ( apologies if spelling is wrong) for making it possible for us to watch the Arsenal football match , much appreciated. Lovely enclosed courtyard with pool and seating , clean , comfortable rooms and a good breakfast included, great value for money . We were lucky to be staying at the same time as a “ drum and dance “ group, lovely people , great entertainment, the performance on the beach was fantastic 👏👏👏.
