Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOn the downside the place had a rustic charm but had seen better days. The rooms were charming but basic. The owner looked bored and was unwelcoming, but the other staff were lovely and helpful. A lot of the wood needed mending. The excursions were muddled and the communication a bit hit and miss.
The location is amazing, on the river, and the stars were fantastic. It was brilliant being able to walk along the shores and around the village, it felt like we were in the centre of Africa. We were met at the airport and even though it was very late they cooked a lovely meal on our arrival. The birdwatching was brilliant. The food was excellent.

GermanyUnfortunately, we received one of the oldest bungalows. There are three sections with each 2 bungalows and the other two have been more new, so may be better, but we didn´t changed for our short stay. I was not expecting much for the low price and this is also what we found, it´s a quiet old hut on the water with a good bed. Fortunately we had running water all the time and a mosquito net, we didn´t asked for more, but the huts have to be renovated.
We stayed for two nights at the Bintang Bolong Lodge in May. Upon arrival, we were not sure, if the property received our booking through booking.com but the very nice staff ladies provided us with accommodation in one of their huts. As far as I understand, the lodge is community run, so staying here supports the local people, which is really important for me. The view above the water is stunning and very romantic, we sat the half of the night outside to enjoy the flawless silence of the Gambian Bolong nature. The staff is really friendly and the food is good quality for good price. We enjoyed the terrace restaurant during high and low tide, in the middle of the mangroves. The nearby village is quiet and we did a small boat tour around the Bolong with a nice guide, the lodge organized for us.

when I checked in, I accidentally paid more than the price. But when the Bintang staff realized my mistake, they returned the extra money without cheating. the staff of Bintang lodge is trustworthy.

United KingdomThe huts were basic which we were expecting but I felt they could do with a little TLC . our shower was tied to the wall with a piece of string and where once a mirror had been in the bathroom was just a gap . our hut looked as though it had been patched up numerous times but still listed at an alarming angle . the walkway to the huts was a little precarious with many loose and worn planks . However despite all this I would say that Bintang Bolong lodge is a great place to stay
great location by a tributary of the river Gambia . The staff were lovely helping us sort out the rarely used canoe so we could paddle up the river and helping us with the camp bikes . The restaurant on the jetty over the river was a great place to eat dinner . The breakfast and dinner although basic provided good food . The huts were on stilts right out over the river with a little balcony where we could sit and watch the wildlife

Germanysome days very talkative workers all day long from 6am to midnight next to my room. they are living in the next room and direct infront of my bathroom and toilet. fan only one level working, unfortunately only fastest speed. toilet flush needs to be fixed ( no problem for me ) but maybe for other guests.
staff always friendly to me! great food from breakfast, lunch and dinner ! gambian food but also very tasty pizza ( shrimps or oysters !! ) and also spagetti. also beef, many other locations i was the 5 month travelling before never offered beef. thanks a lot to the cooks ( and to the owner too ) location over the water most with a fresh air to cool down. very relaxing all day until late night. good cleaning on request. very interesting area for some hours lonely walk in the south, pure nature, along the river, mangroves, monkeys, birds, squirrels....

United KingdomPlumbing could do with some TLC.
Stunning location with a balcony overlooking the wide river. Staff were friendly and helpful. Having spent two nights just down the road we had low expectations of this property which was almost half the price. We were very pleasantly surprised. The cook even cooked fish for us, which we had caught, for a very modest sum. We felt that every effort was being made to recover from the dreadful pandemic. We would like to return.

United KingdomWe stayed here 2 nights i booked the bungalow which i wouldnt recommend. The bungalows are very basic with just a table in and only 1 socket beside the front door! We spoke to the manager who was so nice and he moved us to deluxe as we were the only ones there. I defo recommend paying the extra to stay in the deluxe. There beautiful. Just shame no kettle in the room like most places have weve stayed in in the past and in 2 days bedding nor towels were changed!!! The staff were all great so helpful and nice. Food wise there wasnt much choice shrimp or chicken with chips or rice was the lunch meals and the same for evening but with the add of a fish option. The views are so beautiful and its so peaceful that weve booked to return for Christmas. In the DELUXE! 😛
The Bungalow was very basic only 1 socket. The day we left someone moved in next door! there's a walk way to each bungalow but the staff kept using our path back and forth past our window to get to next door. Instead of using next doors walk way very disturbing And theres No kettle in your room like ive always had in other rooms to get hot water for showering when its cold in the morning. Lights kept going off no generator. Bedding nor towels were changed in 2 days

GermanyThe eco lodge urgently requires a modernization. The German owner apparently is not in the position or willing to invest money 7n his object. As a backpacker's stay okay but for other tourists a challenge. Some of the staff have been very friendly (like Mam or Lamin), the General Manager was not.
The location is phantastic, peaceful and lush.

SpainThe shower space can be tight but the rest of the cabin makes up for it.
Everything. The location is exceptional, seeing the sunrise from the terrace of the cabin was one of the best experiences during my trip across the country. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and smelled like flowers and the cabin itself was super cozy. The prices of their tours are fair and Lamin, their guide, is a fantastic person, we had lots of fun during the boat trip and the walking tour. The food is fine as well and again at a good price, and they even have really good coffee for very little extra. I learned a lot in this place and would have loved to stay many more days.

The location is stunning, I had a sea view lodge and my mom had a regular lodge. Both are absolutely stunning! If you want to see the sun come up in the morning take the sea view! The food is also amazing, if you’re vegan theres options for you and the chicken is amazing! The staff is also great, kind and absolutely helpful!
