    A beautiful relaxed paradise

Beautiful gardens on the creek with so many lovely places to sit and relax and take in the quietness of the mangroves. The gardens are full of beautiful birds and naughty monkeys. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We went on the boat trip and bike ride to Bintang with Mussa who is lovely and friendly. Food is great - Sarah and Juliette looked after us with much love and happiness. Have a swim in the salt water creek when the tide is high.

Comfortable attractive touristy venue, surrounded by woodland

As independent travellers, used to very simple local lodges, to us AbCa's felt a bit overwhelming - slouchy, touristy. Inspired by African culture and design, it is not really especially authentic. Meal-times were rather rigid and were always later than advertised (no early morning tea for birders setting out on 7AM walks). More of a hotel situated in nature than a nature-focused lodge.

Attractive informal gardens. Imaginative tree-house with well-screened outside bathroom, with A/C, fridge, kettle and good lighting. Safe. A good base for bird-watching, both safe short walks just outside the lodge and by vehicle to nearby woodland and creeks.

The staff at the restaurant wasn't really familiar with the menu. The food was quite expensive in comparison with the rest of gambia and the quality wasn't that great either.

The location was peacefully. It was filled with plants, trees, birds and monkeys. The manager of the restaurant was also a great guy.

Great place to stay in the Bintang area
    • Leisure trip
    • Family with young children
    • Budget Double Room
    • Stayed 4 nights

Located beautifully at a mangrove creek, this place has professional and friendly staff, good food and clean rooms in the middle of a beautiful garden with a lot of places to sit down, relax and read a book or enjoy nature. The offered excursions were also pretty good, you can learn a lot about the adjacent creek and forst and also have the possibility to catch a glimpse of life in the surrounding villages, accompanied by local guides with a lot of knowledge. Be prepared to meet travel groups there.

The rooms were riddled with mosquitos, but there was no bug spray.. The bednet was only on one of the beds, but even that did not cover well.

The staff was super nice and helpful. The local food was really good. We loved the boat trip, but that was all the activities we could do as a family with 3 kids. Wish there was more. We would have stayed longer.. The property and its nature esthetics was very nice and soothing.

The rooms (or rather bathroom) were quite small, which isn't an issue for a short stay but if you are staying longer as a couple it's a bit tight.

Abca's is absolutely worth a visit while in the Gambia. We arrived shortly before sunset and had drinks on the water, listening to the birds chirping and just taking it all in. The location is honestly stunning, it feels magical. It's quite big so doesn't entirely have a small eco-lodge charm, but the whole place is beautifully done and you'll see lots of monkeys roaming around the property. We also rented kayaks which is definitely worth doing to explore the mangroves.

Location is great if you like country side, but you need to take a taxi to get here(about 1000 dalasi). The property is managed by one one person, so you do not always get the attention or information especially if you are not with a big group. Some staff are really rude, uninterested (eg. One orange juice took an hour to arrive after 3nags). No toiletries provided, so come prepared.

This is a great place to stay in a beautiful natural surroundings and explore Bintang bolong, nicely placed for lots of village walks, biking and boat trips in the creeks. Lovely rooms and facilities if you like eco lodges, maintained to a good standard and nice food served. Some staff are very friendly and helpful

The water in the shower was weak. Communication - we were not sure about breakfast possibilities etc. Also, check your bill - there was a mistake and we almost paid for the dinner twice.

Very nice eco-friendly place in nature, with free-time possibilities as nature exploring or sports. Interesting style of cottages, comfortable bed.

Cold water only in the shower, but not a big problem. Otherwise all good.

Gorgeous location by the bolong. Lovely, stylish restaurant area. Good food. We enjoyed an early morning boat trip on the bolong, followed by cycling around the local village. Friendly, helpful staff. Our superior room was pleasant with bathroom, comfortable bed, fan and verandah. Would love to stay again and recommend. Probably the nicest accommodation upriver in The Gambia.

No hot water for a shower. Staff lovely but disorganised, we kept being told wrong information which was very frustrating. A couple of issues with the bill too but these were sorted easily. The staff have to do multiple jobs so will be serving breakfast and then suddenly going on a trip and so not around. Made it difficult to know who to look for and ask for things. The place has a chilled vibe but it doesn’t go both ways - we waited ages for breakfast to then be told we couldn’t have any more tea/coffee as it was too late. However we had waited for 30 mins for them. Would be much better if one person did one job and not multiple roles.

The property is gorgeous - so much time, effort and money has gone into making it absolutely lovely. I loved the various chill out zones and relaxed vibe.

Well, water pressure in the rooms could be higher, water temperature should be adjustable, and the availability of WiFi should be improved.

This was a great experience. We had a lovely wood house nestled in a garden full of palms, birds and monkeys. The whole site is situated at the edge of a creek with mangroves. There are interesting activities and excursions, and when you come back you can take a swim in the salty and warm creek water. Very recreative, we did it every day at high tide. Breakfast is o.k. (try the local bush tea!), lunch and dinner are very good. The shuttle service to the airport (1.5 hours) is easy to be arranged. But the best of all is the ramarkable staff at AbCa's. Everyone is so polite and courteous. Thank you guys for everything, we loved to have a little chit-chat with you now and then!

Nothing, everything had been thought of. Well, maybe some hot water in the bathroom would have been nice, but the cold water was fine.

It felt like paradise as we walked in! We loved everything, could have stayed longer. Very beautiful grounds and flowers. Excellent bedroom on stilts with unusual thatched bathroom. Monkeys and lizards. Lots of really brightly coloured birds. On a creek where you can swim, or take a boat trip, or watch fisherman, or spot kingfishers. Lovely outdoor restaurant, excellent food. Lots of quirky places to sit. Room was not only air conditioned but had a fridge and a kettle! Then you could walk outside the hotel and along the creek or through the bush on nature trails. Excellent programme of excursions. Very well organised. Friendly helpful staff.
