Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

AustraliaI have been allocated to alternative accommodation at the last moment due to some issue in booked one by claiming it’s a better one. I was hell tried and jet lagged otherwise it was unacceptable property. I tried to seek help from Booking com customer care as well but didn’t get timely help. Kitchen was so unhygienic and bad shape couldn’t use even a spoon or glass from there. Bathroom was full of some kind of insects.

NorwayThe host was very kind, but the address in the original booking is wrong (Name of the street). This caused a misunderstanding, a delay of several hours wait on the arrival date. Not cool at all! The bathroom was all right but it couldn't be locked from the outside, so even if the room was supposed to have a private bathroom (outside the room), I couldn't tell if it was being used by other guests. The room smelled of smoke. Awful. The room didn't look at all like the picture in Booking.com. The second bed (a couch) was really uncomfortable.
The location is really good, close to tourist attractions, close to underground stop. The host was very kind.

United KingdomSite: Things are not as per the pictures shown in the website. Hospitality: Staff response n responsibilities are zero as we waited for 1 hour in rain to just get the key for check in. He didn't offer a side location for sit or stand so we didn't get wet in the rain. Behaviour: The wrost thing that I asked for the complimentary Coffee due to this bad hospitality he said yes but while going for to collect the coffee he ran after showing the direction of coffee shop. That things are not accepted if your are making some promises. Services: After that I called him for the bathroom issue he just said he was sending someone but no one arrived even after the follow-ups. Response: hospitality was zero. Even for check out i called but he didn't respond.

AustraliaThe rooms are nothing like advertised. The photos are not current and the rooms are very dated. The toilet in one of our rooms didn't flush well and the other room had it's own bathroom in a corridor that was accessible to the other guests. The noise from the pub downstairs is not great - especially when it's warm and you have to have the windows open.
Location is amazing. A quick walk to everything and easy to get to public transport.

United KingdomIt's a bit intimidating as a single female to have to meet a male stranger, alone, at a property down an alley. I also gout locked out in the morning and it took 2 hours for someone to answer my calls.
Location is really good. The room is not as bad as other reviews imply, it isn't great but for price in that area of London I thought ok.

United KingdomNot the friendliest check in. Had to arrange to meet a guy who was a bit stressed. Very musty/mouldy smell. Bathroom hot tap wouldn't turn off. Towels were clean but not nice. Duvet was thin. Couldn't change channels on the TV remote control. The wifi router was on the cooking hob. Generally felt I was in a very low budget place.

Perfect location for central London. Only 3 minute walk to Marble Arch underground. Manager very accomodating for last minute changes to plans. Great price for central London.

GibraltarThe curtains in the bedroom needed to have a backing under them as the room lit up with the street lights outside when you turned the lights off to sleep. The kettle was in the Kitchen and they didn’t have enough crockery and cutlery if you wanted to be self efficient. We were unable to take advantage of a late check out like we can in an hotel The checking in system was a piece of paper with details scribbled on it which I had to sign.
The property was handy for the tube to get around London.
