Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomDining room chairs, other than that everything was great.
Northumberland is a lovely location and the village of Lucker is so peaceful. The cottage was excellent, very clean and very well equipped. Very minor things to point out: dining room chairs need replacing, very uncomfortable. Kitchen equipment was excellent but could have done with some cereal bowls instead there was only soup bowls.

Excellent facilities with a good size lounge, access to the spa across the road, short drive to Bamburgh, well maintained grounds within the overall complex. Heating and log burner excellent for staying in the colder weather and very comfortable bed. We have stayed several times in this cottage.

United KingdomGreenfinch cottage was lovely. We had everything we needed for a relaxing and comfortable break in beautiful Northumberland. Lots of little details had been thought about. A goody box for our dog, heating and lights on when we arrived, a comfy bed and hot shower. I also loved having a morning swim in the spa next door before heading out for the day. We also had two lovely meals at the nearby Apple Inn where staff were very friendly.

United KingdomThere was a misunderstanding about booking the hot tub, but was resolved and didn't spoli our stay at all.
This was our first time at this cottage and was impressed by the cleanliness, quality of furnishings. The kitchen and bathrooms have everything you would expect (very modern) and we appreciated the welcome basket too. The place is good for couples, families and is dog friendly. There is a spar and pool within the area and I can recommend the massage and facial, as a guest I received 50% off. There are pubs / restaurants within walking distance and the property is close to Bamburgh Castle and it's stunning beach (also dog friendly). We would recommend and would book again.

United KingdomEven though the outside is very spacious there is very little privacy. There is a hot tub available (at an extra cost) and I am glad we didn’t pay for as everyone can see you and wouldn’t have felt comfortable.
Myself and my partner stayed here last month with our two dogs. We couldn’t believe the size of the property it was so spacious and plenty of room outside for the dogs to run around. We received some lovely complimentary gifts which was a lovely surprise. Parking right outside the property which was great. Very quiet area but great location to visit Bamburgh and Seahouses. There is a lovely pub right around the corner, 2 min walk which is ideal if you fancy a drink and don’t want to drive out. Would definitely recommend and we hope to stay here again next year.

United Kingdom“secure” garden - It is not a secure garden for any inquisitive dog. During our trip the weather was warm , we couldn’t leave the back door open due to fear he would jump the wall if he was unsupervised or not on lead in the garden. There is a fence then it stops at a wall. The wall is waist height, the other side of this wall is the village road. Day one my dog jumped it. Any medium size inquisitive dog would be over that wall in a second, would be very easy for a large breed. This definitely needs looking into. poor communication- for weeks prior to our stay we attempted to contact via booking and directly several times to discuss the BBQ option. No answer or returned contact relevant to our questions, email contact was automated. Therefore we didn’t get the BBQ grill
beautiful cottage , cozy and good facilities for example; everything required in the kitchen, hair dryer, logs for the fire, doggy treats. Good location for exploring the local area, I would book again.
