Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt would have been helpful to have direction and advice about parking before arrival. No mention of free parking to the rear of the hotel complex. Booking.com just noted that parking was £1.25 per hour over night?
Once parked at rear of building, access to the room was easy. Clean spacious room with excellent river view. Very comfortable. Bathroom clean and spacious. Excellent evening dinner and breakfast. Attentive staff and good service.

United KingdomOne bar person was an absolute bully to her colleagues and had terrible customer service. Leaving orders half open, walking away instructing other (very busy) staff to complete her orders! The disrespect she showed her staff and customers was ridiculous.
The room was small but adequate for our needs and priced appropriately. The hotel staff were good, unfortunately 2 bar staff really let things down. This was a wedding, so that's really poor on their part for that. One female bar staff, presumably in a senior role, was very rude and ignorant to customers and spoke to her colleagues in a disrespectful way, leaving another bar staff member looking and feeling miserable. She looked to be on the brink of tears. I felt awful for the staff working with such a bully. However, all the other staff were really nice and good fun!

United KingdomThe hotel is spread across many separate buildings, this is quite quaint but if the weather is bad you get very wet going to breakfast! There was no lift as we were in a listed building, I do wish I had known previously, I'd have requested a ground floor as I have mobility issues. That said, the view was lovely. The sofa bed however needs updating.
The room was comfortable and had a TV in each of the two areas.

United KingdomThis is a very busy hotel, with an in-house distillery with a very noisy outside bar area. Our double bedroom was small, but adequate for an overnight stop. There were no towels rails or hooks for hanging clothes or towels in the shower room, which was annoying and could be easily rectified. We felt the room was expensive for the size.
The hotel is well situated in the centre of Inverness beside the river. The restaurant was very busy, but the service was fast and efficient.

United KingdomInitially ignored at the front desk, we were then booked into a ‘river view’ room which didn’t have one. When we spoke to staff again they were very helpful and quickly changed the room (several rooms are mislabelled as river view they told us) but not an easy start to the trip.
Lovely location by the river! Light, airy, huge rooms. Breakfast was delicious but you need to book in.

AustraliaThe room was very warm, several things needed maintenance and the fire alarm went on continuously for over half an hour even though it was a false alarm.
Location was brilliant and the staff were fantastic. There was also a nice restaurant and car parking and adjoining brewery.

United KingdomThe room was almost unbearably hot and even with an open window it was just too warm to sleep properly. It was very warm when we were there, but the inability to get fresh air in the room, was a bit disappointing
Unfortunately our booking did not make it through to the hotel so for the first 20 mins or so, we weren’t sure if we had a room. The staff was really sweet and said they will check with the manager- he was very kind as well, offered us a drink on the house while we were waiting for them to resolve the issue. The did manage to fix it in the end and we were shown to our room. Everything was as expected- no complaints. The breakfast was delicious (buffet) and the location is a dream if you just want to relax, have some good drinks and delicious food.
