Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyOur room was not located in the main building but down the road a bit in their annex. Parking was a little difficult there. We were fine with it but wish we were informed ahead of time.
Great guesthouse in Gjogv with a wonderful restaurant. We were on our honeymoon and they treated us to a glass of wine with dinner -- a very special touch! Lovely breakfast and the packed lunch was delicious. It's worth driving all the way to Gjogv just to stay here! We will definitely be back.

DenmarkThe shower was positioned a bit bad, tricky not to get the whole bathroom wet.
The restaurant had a limited menu, but the quality was very high, we got an extremely tasty dinner (tournedos + special combo dessert of chocolate mousse and ice cream). We stayed in the annex building in a nice and spacious room with great views of both the ocean and mountains. The town is small, has great hiking options and a 1 night stay was perfect.

GermanyThis guesthouse offers everything and more than you could expect in such a secluded village like Gjogv. The staff is very friendly and helpful and asked in advance if we need to book a table for dinner and for their very special and impressing cultural evening. The breakfast was good, our room in the separate building was spacious and clean. Thanks again for a couple of relaxing days with many new impressions.

Denmark- The room wasn't too clean, the bathroom fan was not functioning and there were a few spots of mold in the corner of the bathroom. Had to keep the door and window open to air out. - Breakfast menu is very basic. Simple buns with butter and jam, hard-boiled eggs and yogurt with various cereals/granola
- The location was the all-deciding factor for this booking. Just a short walk from the sea. - The hotel staff was very helpful and accommodating - The dinner experience at their in-house restaurant was simply amazing. Prices are not for the stingy but the taste is simply fantastic! Be sure to book your in advance, especially on weekends. You can also book tables even if not staying at the hotel as a guest.

NetherlandsThere was only one toilet roll. The dinner is pricy, especially the desert is not worth the money.
The hotel is located in a nice village. It owns multiple buildings, so your room could be in an annex elsewhere. The breakfast is good and you can eat dinner as well. Rooms were modern and staff is nice.

DenmarkAs we stayed in the annex, the room was lacking a bit of charm. It was comfortable, but decoration was too basic for the price per night.
We stayed in the annex. The room was large, comfortable and with beautiful views. Attention at check in was very good. We had breakfast included, the selection was very good, and we enjoyed it. We also chose to have dinner at their restaurant. We opted for main course and dessert. The main courses were delicious and a good amount. The desserts were good, but overpriced. Knowing the size of it, I would have not chosen to order one.

United KingdomOn arrival/check-in at 2pm we were told that there was a lack of cleaning staff and that our room might not be ready. We were given the keys anyway to go up to the room. The room was clean and made up, but the bathroom had not been cleaned well. We went over the bathroom with antibacterial wipes which we had with us. Unfortunately, the property is not 100% soundproofed. During the night we could hear noises from other guests staying up late e.g loud bangs/scraping chairs across the floor. Tip - pack your ear plugs.
We stayed in the annex close to the main guest house. Our room had a great view facing towards the village and main guest house. The room was very nice and comfortable. Very large room, with its own door to the outside. The window was huge so kept the curtains drawn during the day for privacy. A stone’s throw away from the guest house. Excellent parking.

FranceThe staff at the breakfast seemed to be a bit overwhelmed on some days. Most of the tables had used dishes on them. Also, no fruits except on Sunday morning at breakfast.
The location is wonderful just at the village's edge with easy access. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The rooms and common areas are clean and nicely decorated.

DenmarkThe hotel is very beautiful from the outside, but I found it a bit old on the inside - especially the room. My room was placed on the same level as and next to the entrance to the reception, which meant that when the curtains were up people could see in to my room. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was amazing!

United StatesPoor communication from the staff on two accounts when I reached out through Booking.com messaging. I received a vague and unhelpful answer to my first question - eventually figuring it out on my own - and no response at all when I reached out a second time about a different topic. It’s a lengthy drive into Gjogv to not feel crystal clear about the answers to my questions. Also, very thin walls in the annex which meant that when my neighbor (above me?) got up at 6am, so did I ☹️ (were they moving furniture at 6am?).
Stayed in the annex. Very cozy and comfortable. Ate dinner in the restaurant which was fabulous. Both servers were so kind and hospitable and the food (dinner) was delicious.
