The hospitality of the crew, especially Solo, Hosea and Maria was exceptional. We asked to be treated to authentic Fijian meals and boy, we were treated and how! Highly recommend having a few meals at the property. The crew were just the sweetest people to have conversations with. And ofcourse, the location of the property is a bonus. Its private, quiet and just what you need if you're looking for a proper getaway. You can go kayaking or swimming right behind the property or relax on the floating deck! On a sunny day, you can spot colourful fish and star fish. All in all, this was worth it!

This isn't a 'negative' at all, but definitely worth noting this place is very isolated surrounded by sometimes very loud nature; no internet signal on phones and wifi only in main area. Occasional power outages (island-wide, not fault of place). For us the place was perfect, but worth considering if you're expecting somewhere with more hotel/resort like things.

A hidden gem, unlike anywhere I've stayed before - lovely river right alongside property, alone in nature. An incredible place to switch off from the world. Very friendly staff, always happy to help. Vinaka Lilly and Simon! Special note to the chef's service from Osia - it really is worth every penny, the food is exceptional and given it's a fraction of some of the mandatory meal plans elsewhere in Fiji, 100% worth it to add something special to your holiday.

The cost of ingredients for the chef service was a bit up there but Oscar does a great job at preparing meals for you. If it’s in your budget, I’d recommend choosing the chefs service. The cost of activities is a bit crazy so we opted to just kayak & I ended up hiring a car to do the waterfalls etc.

The staff were just amazing! I travelled as a solo mum with 2 kids. There’s 2 dogs Coco & Oli & they are just beautiful & friendly dogs. I felt really safe knowing that they slept just outside my door. The caretakers Lilly & Simon are just the nicest people & have no worries in helping you in any way. Layla is a beautiful person & makes the best eggs! 🤤 Oscar the chef & wife Maria are again beautiful people. My 5yr old really took a shining to Maria. Solo the manager is very helpful & comes & checks on you everyday to see if you want to do activities & organises all this for you. We stayed in the smaller lodge which would be great if you’re on honeymoon or a romantic getaway. We stayed in there for 1 night but it just wasnt big enough so we were lucky there were no other guests so we moved into the kingfisher lodge which was a bit bigger & had a loft room which the kids loved. There’s a kitchen on site so I highly recommend hiring a car through AA rentals so you can go to the shops whenever needed. Also if you stay in kingfisher lodge you can still get wifi but the smaller lodge you don’t. The smaller lodge is a lot more private & the shower is just gorgeous!!

The bugs that bite, but that’s everywhere and to be expected!

beautiful part of Savusavu, it was lovely being near the water and the lodge was so serene and tranquil. A Very relaxing and intimate stay. The staff - Oz, Simon, Lily, Leila, Maria and Solo - were the absolute loveliest people and made everything perfect. And the local animals - Olli, Coco and Kitty were very friendly too! we stayed in the Kingfisher lodge which was spacious and open which was fantastic.

Even with the AC on, the loft with a queen bed was too warm, so my younger son just slept on extra pillows on the main level. The safe wasn’t working, but we were able to lock our room and felt like our things were safe enough that way, especially with how remote the place was and the minimal staff. If you go tubing, be aware that the tube left black marks on my swim shirt, but they came out with stain remover and a little scrubbing. Also, make sure to eat before you arrive or arrange in advance to have dinner prepared for you, as the staff goes home fairly early in the evening and the nearest restaurant, if it's open, is 15 minutes away, and the next closest is 30 min away in Savusavu.

We had the place to ourselves. It was peaceful and quiet right there on the river. The kingfisher bure was spacious enough for the four of us. The beds were comfortable, AC kept us cool at night, and the screens over the windows kept the bugs out during the day. We took advantage of the kayaking, tubing, and hand line fishing. Use of the kayaks was free; tubing on the river and hand line fishing had a reasonable cost attached. Kayaking and tubing down the river to the Salt Lake and back was beautiful in the early morning and at sunset, when the tide was going the right direction. Solo, the manager on location, also helped my son and me arrange a snorkeling tour to Split Rock with someone from his village, which they loved and was less expensive than what our second resort charged. One of the best things about the lodge was the chef, Hosea. The complimentary breakfast was pancakes with sliced bananas and a really good homemade coconut milk syrup that tasted like caramel, plus an attractive fruit plate. Hosea made scrambled eggs for my wife, since she eats gluten free. We asked him to also cook us lunch and dinner, since we weren't interested in cooking for ourselves on vacation. We picked one of the options he gave us, which all sounded good, and then he left to buy the ingredients. [Note: Having him cook lunch and dinner for the four of us was FJD100 total, plus the cost to buy the food (about FJD80 for the meals we chose) and a FJD30 transportation cost to town and back. Excellent value.] Both lunch and dinner were beautifully presented and delicious! We could see he was a professional, which he confirmed when he told us about his love of cooking and his history cheffing at some famous resorts in the area. Wished we could have stayed longer!

    Didn't stay long enough!

We had an exceptional stay at Salt Lake Lodge. It was our last stop on our two week long island hopping tour of Fiji and we sure saved the best until last! It was the best service and food we had during our travels and we are already planning our return trip. For a small fee you can have a private chef cater to your interests and it was the best food we had in Fiji! Lilly and Simon took excellent care of us and we left feeling like family. The location of salt lake lodge is like something out of a fairytale - it is so relaxing, serene and has so many activities nearby. The fishing was fantastic! Thank you staff at Salt Lake a lodge, we will be back!

Pressure for water is a bit low, but only cause its tank water. A

The service and actual genuine bula we received was extremely beautiful. We had a wonderful greeting on arrival by solo and team. Our dinner was well prepared by Chef Osea and shared with the caretakers Lilly and Levaci. It was a home away from home for us, the beautiful room with the scenic view of the garden and river. Breakfast of home made Banana Muffins and the scrumptious pancakes. River tubing and boat ride by Osea 1 and Chef Osea on sunday was the best way to end our trip. If you're looking for something genuine, quiet and fijian. This is the place for you. We will be back. Sota Tale Fiona and Hamish

Improve the reading material in the library. The books are old and full of ants! It's great having kayaks - but they are not very comfortable.

The breakfast fruit plate was beautifully presented with a variety of fruit, followed by home made pancakes with coconut syrup. Delicious. The location is ideal - on an inlet leading to a salt water lake.

No internet nor phone connection. One can get very, very lonely here. My recommendation is to have a companion with you. And rent a car!

The staff here is amazing and will go far out of their way to ensure you have the stay of your drams. Solo, Osea (and Osea), Lily and Simon are chatty and fun to joke around with. Awesome people. Breakfast is delicious! Fresh fruit, eggs of your choice, etc - as much as you need. It’s excellent! Very pretty spot. Awesome roads to follow and explore.

Simply everything was super! But especially the staff, Lilly, Simon, Oscar and others, they made us feel welcome in every possible way! we joked as we tried to fault this practically perfect place. one thing that could be nice would be a reading lamp in the bedroom.

The staff were so friendly, attentive and kind. The food is fantastic (chef service costs extra and in addition to this, you either need to source the food yourself or ask kindly for them to help). We spent our days lounging by the river, on the beach, kayaking or swimming up the river. Idyllic location, calming energy and plenty of reading spots.

Honestly, this was one of our favorite places to stay! Only thing I would point out is that there were some ants in the rooms but this was consistent in some of the more expensive accommodations we stayed at as well.

Our stay at Salt Lake Lodge definitely exceeded our expectations! As there were only a couple of rooms, it felt like a very personal experience. Every staff member was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. The room was clean and spacious and the included breakfast was amazing! Oscar the chef can basically cook anything you can buy from the Savu Savu markets. The rest of the staff, Solo, Simon, Mary, Lily, Oscar x 2 we all super personable and felt like friends in the short time we were there!

Nothing. But hopefully they open a bar as small boats come by with tourists and would be great as a river stop.

Unique and located along the river leading to the lake. Away from the commercial resorts and great for unwinding at the end of an action packed trip. Very peaceful and serene with staff that treat you like family.

Why we could not stay longer

This place is very special. Remote location that is just beautiful, and the staff are amazing. We had the place to ourselves and once we worked out how the food was arranged, and we realised that Oscar the chef was ours and he would cook for us, it was just wonderful. Going to the markets, the local villages and road side stall for ingredients was a treat in itself and the food was magnificent. Solo. LiLi and Simon were wonderful hosts

This property is 40mins from town and food, no wifi or cell reception… you have to bring your own food, and either cook yourself or pay additional $ for chef to come cook it for you. the produce on the island isn’t great unless grown by the staff so we felt very limited by the food available from the supermarket. taxi to and from town was $35 each way- car rental was $70-100 a day so we opted to be able to get around ourselves rather than paid tours or taxi.

we had the whole place to ourselves, which was a surprise. it’s very isolated and private. with a sandy beach and kayaks to get to the lake upstream. There was 4x staff for us 2- they were so friendly and attentive and go out of their way for you. chef made wonderful breakfasts and worked with me being gluten intolerant so made us traditional and different things each day. All the staff are from local villages and share their traditions and knowledge so proudly. the bed was comfortable and the room and facilities were very clean with aircon and hot water. bonus points for the 2 doggies and 1 cat that come with the property- we loved having them around. if you like to do your own thing away from everyone this is a great spot.

Very far from the town, and needed a taxi every time to go out. Bit pricey and it's weird to pay everything in USD.

Our room was covered in ants. Crawling on the walls, on the ceilings, in the towels, outside the door. Lots and LOTS of ants. Only 1 outlet worked. The fridge inside and out were dirty. There were spills on the floor that weren’t mopped up. The staff made us very uncomfortable on our last night. We went out for a couple hour drive around to the hot springs, coco farm, and downtown Savusavu with Oscar and his wife. The manager told us since the hot springs were along the way we’d just incorporate that into the Kokomana farm visit at no extra cost. (Plus, it’s literally a 2 minute stop) so Oscar gave us the total and we paid him cash. On our last night, Lilly and Saimone were collecting the fees and tried to charge us more than what Oscar said. We said we already paid him and then they went into this whole thing were they were saying Oscar should have taken the money and his wife shouldn’t have went and we were supposed to pay them and their boss was going be mad and yadayada. It was very awkward, and it made the ride to the bus with Oscar very weird. Long story short- there was internal bickering between the staff in front of the customers, and different pricing depending on who you talked to. The boat didn’t work and there were no life jackets.

The property was nice. The river was very cool. The foliage and greenery were lovely. The dogs were the sweetest. The food was very good. Kayaks were good, except very small window due to tide timing. Not their fault, just a comment. However…
