Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

This place is beautiful and the vue is amazing with the desert and the lake in front of you. The safari trip to wadi al hitan was just perfect and the guide from the hotel did also some sand dune bashing on his way. The food is good. The place is so quiet and you can relax a lot. A real pleasure to be there.

BelgiumIt was all very good.
The view is amazing and also you can do a lot of activities like sand boarding, trip on the lake. It is near the waterfall wadi al rayad. The safari 4D drive to wadi al hitan and magic lake was absolutely fabulous. The guide and driver did a lot of effort. He did also some sand dune bashing with us. The kids loved it.

EgyptThe dining place was very crowded and loud, but then again we went on a bank holiday so it was peak season.
I loved the location, right by the lake so very good views. Staff were very responsive, attentive and welcoming. The breakfast was superb. I stayed in a glamping tent which was nice as it had the camping experience with a small inside toilet with plumbing. there was electricity sockets to charge phone. It rained when we stayed and the tents were sturdy and did not leak.

EgyptIt was not clear that each person getting to the property has to pay 200 EGP to the park entrance. The land around the property could use some clean up for garbage.
Absolutely beautiful landscape and location in the national park. The lake is lovely, stars are prominent, and there are shells and fossils all around the lake (including shark teeth).

CanadaOn the morning of our third day, the hotel driver showed up. Our neighbour in the next unit, a Frenchman, told us that this driver was a crazy driver who liked to speed. The driver did not speak English. We got into the vehicle, which was old and did not have padded seats, and I sat up front, while my husband sat in the back with his photography equipment, which he was getting ready. We pulled out of the driveway, when suddenly, without warning, the driver left the road, barrelling into the sand. Suddenly he sped upwards over a large sand dune, and the vehicle plunged head-first, crashing down on the other side of the dune. I was in shock, and I turned around to see my husband lying in the back seat moaning in pain. His photography equipment had flown out of his hands into the front seat. When the front of the vehicle hit the ground hard, the rear flew upwards, along with my husband. His head hit the roof, and he came crashing down on the hard unpadded seat. He was in such pain he couldn’t move! I told the driver to turn around and take us back to the hotel. When we got there, my husband had to be carried out of the vehicle, but there was no one in sight. I ran all around the place and into the staff area, screaming for help, but no one was there…not a soul to be found! I banged on the door of the Frenchman, and he ran out and helped carry my husband onto the bed in our room. My husband was in extreme pain and was shaking from shock. The hotel workers finally showed up and notified the owner/manager, but he never contacted us…not once to offer help! Our driver from Cairo came to pick us up, and he took my husband to a doctor in the Fayoum area for treatment. Now that we are back in Canada, my husband is awaiting the results of his X-rays to determine the damage. WARNING…stay away from Tache-by-the-Lake unless you prefer staying in a place surrounded with garbage and staff/absentee owner who doesn’t care about guests!
At Tache-by-the-Lake we were greeted by three young guys who didn’t speak English. The only way we could communicate verbally with anyone working there was by talking to the absentee owner/manager on the phone. We were booked for three days and two nights, in the hopes of exploring the National Park and the whale skeletons in Wadi Al Hittan. The hotel vehicle was unavailable, but the owner/manager said he would arrive the following morning. There was not much to do on-site without a vehicle, so we walked around the hotel, noticing all the garbage. Tache-by-the-Lake is situated in the desert, and the sand around the buildings is full of litter and broken glass. We walked down to the lake, and discovered that it too was full of garbage! No one bothers to keep the area clean! The room was quaint and clean, however the bathroom lacked such niceties as shampoo and conditioner. Units have an attached porch, which also had litter and ashtrays full of cigarette butts from previous guests. The following day no one showed up to provide us with a vehicle/driver, and we were told we would have to wait until our last day to obtain one. Disappointed, we decided to walk to the waterfall area, and the rest of the day was spent amongst the sand and garbage. The place seemed oddly empty with the exception of the young guys we met on arrival, who also did the cooking. Food was good but service was lacking. Tea or coffee was never offered, and when we requested coffee at breakfast, it took forever to arrive. Desert campfires were never offered, so there was nothing to do at night.

Egyptit seems that they have an overbooking issue. When we arrived they informed us that there was a mistake in the booking, so we will get the booked room on the first night and will have to move to a regular room (without view) the following day, but as compenstation they have charged both rooms for the price of the regular room. There was another family that had the same issue when we were there. So it seems like this is a regular problem, as mentioned to us by one of the staff "human mistakes happen"!! the pillows are not comfortable at all and the extra bed (foldable) was extremely uncomfortable. breakfast wouldn't be served before 10 am, so if you are an early person, you will have to wait. The real main problem that totally put us off was the second night there was an electricity cut and water cut for more than 10 hours till the morning at least till we were there. When we called the person in charge he told us, it will be back in 30 min, but it never did, so we decided to check out very early as we knew it will be much longer than that and breakfast will be delayed longer as a result. I suggest that they have water back up for guests in case of electricity cut, and a kettle for guests so at least they can serve themselves till the staff wake up to prepare breakfast.
The location is nice, and the staff is polite.
