Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Canadawe liked everything.
My recent stay at the Steigenberger Resort Alaya Marsa Alam was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and impeccable hospitality from the staff. Their genuine kindness and eagerness to ensure my comfort truly made my experience unforgettable. The resort itself is a paradise nestled along the pristine coastline, boasting luxurious amenities and breathtaking views. The attention to detail in every aspect of the property is evident, from the meticulously maintained grounds to the elegantly appointed rooms. It exudes an air of sophistication and tranquility that instantly put me at ease. One of the highlights of my stay was the abundance of crystal-clear pools scattered throughout the resort. Whether I was seeking a refreshing dip or simply lounging by the water's edge, each pool provided a serene oasis to unwind and soak up the sun. Moreover, the resort's proximity to the magnificent coral reefs and stunning beach only added to its allure. Exploring the vibrant marine life while snorkeling or simply strolling along the powdery white sands was an experience like no other. Above all, it was the exceptional service and genuine hospitality of the staff that truly set this resort apart. From the moment I arrived until the moment I reluctantly departed, they went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my stay exceeded expectations.

ItalyThe reserved beach at the coraya bay is too far from the hotel and there is no shuttle service. Even if there are many options, the quality of the food at the main buffet restaurant can be better. The mattress and the pillows also coulf be more comfortable. Lack of a snack bar that is accessible at all hours. Although the hotel is all inclusive, room service is subject to a fee.
Great hotel, very quiet, clean and relaxing, with beautiful sea, gardens and pool. The room was very comfortable and clean. We really appreciate the hotel efforts to be green and take care of the sea, the reef and the enviroment. We really enjoy our stay.

United KingdomOnly thing we’d change would be the animations because although the shows were great, they were very animated! Because the main bar (which is huge) is the only area to sit and have a drink after dinner, if one wanted something a bit quieter and more intimate there was nowhere else to go. The great musicians/bands that performed during the day would have been lovely to listen to quietly in one of the other rooms - like the one with the piano in
Everything! The room, the pools, the upkeep of the gardens , the attention to detail, the variety of food, the cocktails, the choice of restaurants, but what makes this hotel exceptional is the staff . Ahmed from the restaurant who so kindly officiated at our marriage . Tatha the front of desk manager who took a great video, Alli(?) the artist/cleaner who created extraordinary decorations in our room - and many more whose names I’m afraid I don’t recall . We look forward to returning asap

SwitzerlandThe beach is unfortunately not accessible directly for swimming due to coral reef. On the other side snorkeling is great fun, accesible over a short bridge guiding to deeper water. WiFi is sometimes low or disturbed, better to bring your own G4 in case you depend on it for work.
From arrival to departure all services are outstanding. Most staff is very helpful and friendly. The all inclusive food is very good. The location is clean and rooms (superior) are spacy and comfortable. Adults only is a great experience for having a relaxed time. I can't wait to visit this place again - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

GermanySometimes the older guests wants everything to be very quite. However, the hotel management is managing to balance between the quite time as well as the fun time.
I liked the friendly staff, food, drinks, beach, pool, sport activities, and the weather

EgyptThe hotel is a solid experience, we loved it! If we have to be picky here are a few things that could be better -You need to reserve for the theme restaurants, they were all booked for the first 3 days of our stay. -Internet is not great, but I guess they cannot do anything about it -The Asian restaurant was a bit disappointing, we expected better Still a great experience!
This is the best hotel we have been in Egypt, from someone that visited many 5-star hotels. It is a wonderful experience -The animation team had many good activities throughout the day, shout out to Patrick -The shows at the evening were amazing -Beach is wonderful with a mountain of coral reef and many fish, wonderful for snorkeling -The swim up room is the best way to go, it was a lot of fun -The buffet has variety of foods, I asked them about Fetir and they made it for me -Many swimming pools -very quiet stay at the resort -The hotel is a masterpiece, the architecture is amazing -They have a diving center where you can book diving and snorkeling trips

United KingdomThat I didn't think to book any dives as the house reef is gorgeous, even when snorkelling, so I am sure the onsite diving would be amazing
I swore I would never stay at an all-inclusive as I prefer small boutique properties, but Alaya was a welcome surprise! It really is unbelievable value for money, and the property is stunning and impeccably clean, with excellent staff and great food (and drinks). 10 mins from the airport too, which is a bonus.

United StatesRestaurant booking was tough as there simply wasn’t enough specialty restaurants. The buffet was great with a good selection but the specialty restaurants were a hit or miss. Rocca (Asian) was not particularly good but Mashawi (Seafood) was great!
The facilities and amenities were fantastic! Staff was incredibly friendly and always helpful when asking about things. I took the go bus from Cairo and they helped me with pickup so I didn’t need to go to the bus station. Overall, great stay!

GermanyI gave this stay a 10/10 so nothing was really not great. If I were asked for something to change, not considering how realistic it would be, I would: - Turn down the volume of the evening entertainment at 10 pm already (for those that like to sleep early and swim early) - Add more availabilities to the diving centre (it was overbooked) - Ask the neighbouring resort in the north to also turn down entertainment volume earlier (I never get why all resorts think that they need loud music till late every evening)
Amazing: - Super friendly and welcoming staff - Great hotel and facilities (gym, pools, spa, games) - Very clean - Superb service. - 3 excellent restaurants, bars, etc. Food was terrific, really high quality every day, any day. - Adult only, ideal for couples - The corals were also healthy. In short: The stay far exceeded my expectations. Best resort I have ever been to. Would definitely return.

This place is excellent in all ways: all hard working staff from lobby(thank you very much Ali!) to restaurant workers, to our room boy; the food - everything you can imagine, besides fast food:), super fresh, excellent cooked; the grounds, swimming pools, comfortable beds... Diving shop right on the property - great service. Our family love it so much, we already booked another trip in November.

SwitzerlandI only have two complaints. One was about the wifi which was really not very good. This was more of a working holiday for me, and I found it a challenge to be able to do the things I needed to do at times, especially when it came to things like conference calls. There was one evening where the wifi crashed altogether, but the staff offered their personal wifi hotspots in the case of an emergency. Also the wifi is not really something in their control and more a testament of the state of the infrastructure in that part of Egypt. My second complaint was that the draining in the shower was very poor. The water would always build up whenever we took a shower and I'm someone who finds that very gross.
I consider myself a relatively picky person, so when I say that this was easily one of the best resort experiences I've had, I think that really says a lot. This was my first time at an all-inclusive resort, and the staff were incredibly polite, professional, and thoughtful. The room was very spacious, cleaned daily, and our room cleaner always left cute little designs on the beds which I thought added a thoughtful touch. Also the beds were suuuuper comfortable, especially the pillows which says a lot because I'm someone who never uses pillows because I can never find any that are comfy for me and the way that I sleep. I think they also offered like a pillow menu so they could bring you one that best worked for you. There were a variety of food options (I think honestly the Beach Bar restaurant had the best lunch, we went there literally every single day. We also may have developed an addiction to the spicy margaritas lol). The resort itself is very well maintained and absolutely beautiful. There are a series of other resorts next to Alaya and I really felt like we made the best decision in picking this one. It's also easy walking to both the coral and the regular beach. They had events every afternoon and evening so there was always a little something to do for everyone. Overall a great experience and I definitely will be going back!
