Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Very simple, but very nice and romantic looking hotel, with a shady garden in front of it. Abdul, the host, is a very nice and helpful person. Located in a few minutes from the Medinet Habou temple.

EgyptReally nothing !
An exceptional week in a perfect location at the limit between the green fields of Nile vallet and the desert. In a charmful, authentic house with a marvelous view from the rooftop. Very close to archeological sites and not far from the Nile. Very calm : you will wake up with the birds songs... The meals are just incredible and great to discover authentic egyptian food (i live in Egypt and know what i'm talking about !) and different everyday. The service is perfectly convenient : always available, smiling, discrete and rich in good plans for logistics and visits. Congrats for this amazing place !

United KingdomNour El BalaD was just right for us. The manager of the hotel is really nice. We could eat at the hotel every evening even at late notice and the food was delicious. The feeling was a homely place. We loved the location as it is a bit far and isolated from everything. The taxi organised by the hotel manager, was absolutely perfect. We loved being driven by you Tahab! Thank you for 3 beautiful days at Nour el Ballad!

SwedenIt’s like visiting a family, warm welcome, relaxed vibe and extremely helpful owners. We received all the possible help and felt cared about. It also felt like being an explorer staying in a very authentic Egyptian house. The room was very specious and the home made breakfast was lovely. The owner is a heartwarming person who has a wide network and is able to organize everything in Luxor (taxi, hot air ballon, and I’m sure the list doesn’t end here). It’s also very important to highlight that the location is very quiet, we managed to get a rest from noisy Egyptian streets and slept like newborns. Strongly recommend!

AustraliaAuthenticity-Set amongst the Theban hills and Nile agricultural area. Simple, cosy, mud brick cottage with nice garden and rooftop to enjoy the panoramic views. Abdul is super friendly and can help with whatever you need. We booked a hot air balloon tour through him. He is also an excellent chef and the home cooked meals we had at Nour El Balad was the best food we had in Egypt. Duck, chicken, kofta were all superb.

CanadaLocated on the outskirts of town, it wasn't close to much in the way of convenience stores but that was easily overcome. No real complaints here.
Food was good, hotel is right on the edge of the desert and is a nice, quiet and small hotel it was perfect for our group of nine.

BelgiumThere was only 1 room with AC, so when you book be sure to get that one. The bathroom can always use improvement. The location is great with a beautiful view on the mountains, but you're 40 minutes driving (minimum) from center Luxor.
Abdul was a great host! Good food. Nice advice. Happy to help whenever needed. Level of English satisfying. AC in the room was working. Hot water in the bathroom...not always (but does it matter when it's that hot?). I'd recommend it when the weather is not too hot - in superwarm weather not sure this place is fresh enough for most "Westerners".

RussiaAmazing place, on the other side of noisy Luxor! Our favourite hotel, we change 5 during our trip! Very close to King and Queens Valley, Hatshepsut Temple. They have garden and some domestic animals. Breakfasts, lunch and dinner are delicious, cooked by master chef Abdull, It's a hotel owned by a family , so I felt like home!) Rooms are big and very cosy, If u need to go to Luxor center, 10 min taxi and u are next to the 5 pounds ferry, who will bring you close to Luxor Temple. We will definitely choose this hotel next time I'll be back in Luxor. They offer Hotairballon trip for good price and to other places if you want! Thanks again for everything Abdul, Taha, Mohammeds and Mahmoods)!

GermanyThe only tiny thing that wasn't perfect was that the beds were quite hard. Probably also authentic, but quite hard :)
Everybody at Nour El Balad was super nice, very friendly and helpful. It was a lovely family atmosphere. The rooms were spacious and beautiful furnished. I read in other reviews that it was a bit dusty, it is but thats probably because it is a - very beautiful - historical mud building. We didn't mind. The terrace on the roof is super lovely. The food was authentic and very delicious. The location was perfect, not far to the valley of the kings an other sites. One side of the house looking in the lush green of the valley and on the other side of the road you could see the mountains and the dessert. We would definitely come again!

The hotel is very convenient to visiting Luxor, it is in great location on a quiet street. It is on the West bank of the Nile, very close to the main attractions, but East bank is also accessible easily by the ferry. Our room was very comfortable, staff very friendly and we had amazing food both for breakfast and dinner. I would recommend.

The staff was incredibly welcoming, warm and attentive. the food was absolutely delicious and all prepared at home. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the space was in a rural area amongst cabbage farms and green fields. They have a nice terrace with sweeping views of the fields, mountains behind the Valley of the Kings and around the corner of the Habu temple and very close to the Colossus of Menon.

NetherlandsBeautiful and quiet place close to the west bank main attractions. We truly had an amazing stay here and I cannot recommend this place enough. The building is traditional and beautifully decorated. The rooftop terrace has wonderful views. Showers are hot, rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner here and it was amazing every time. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Bikes can be rented next door and this is an excellent way to explore all the sights, even the ones on the east bank. Look no further when you’re visiting Luxor. We will definitely come back.
