Always hard when there is ac in dorms, a guy in my room had turned it up to 26° even though the sign stated keep it between 22-24, then proceeded to snore very loudly all night. Nothing to do with staff or accom but maybe keep the remote out of the room

Vista Al Mar is in the best location possible. Two steps from the pier, ATM & and street where local people dine. Kitchen was very clean and well equipped with 2 filtered water dispensers. You also have hammocks and very nice outdoor area. Staff was very helpful in whatever I came to ask about. There was no problem at all with communication in English. Room cleaned daily with towels replaced. They offer bike rental service with both standard and electric bikes. I stayed 6 nights and had no issues with hot water. I can highly recommend this place on Santa Cruz island.

Like with all buildings in puerto ayora there is not much sound proofing so you can hear people talking, motorbikes and dogs barking. Embrace it or sleep with ear plugs.

I liked everything about this hostal. One of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. Close to the water front (5 mins walk) supermarket 5 mins away and right by the tourist offices and bars and pubs. But because it is just off the main road with an inner courtyard it felt like you were in an oasis of paradise. Beautiful trees and flowers and several hammocks to chill in. I felt very relaxed there. I was able to pay via credit card which was nice and unusual for the islands. My private room was huge, had two double beds, wardrobe, desk and en-suite. Was perfect and a little gecko moving around which kept me company. There is a communal kitchen and outdoor dining around which was well stocked for cooking and the dining table allowed everyone to talk to each other, or eat in peace depending on your preference. I saw a running machine but didn’t use it and they also had lots of bikes and electric bikes for hire within the compound. Will definitely stay there again when I return.

No lockers in the room for the backpacks, just a small safety deposit box. If you stay longer, you can use the wardrobes, but for one night you don't do it. Limited equipment in the kitchen

Aircon was leaking and it wasn't fixed while I was there. I moved rooms into the communal dorm which was actually nicer.

Lovely hostel with great communal area and hammocks. Great spacious kitchen with water, tea and coffee available. Perfect location. Was a bit disappointed in the female only dorm but hopefully they will fix the leaking Aircon now. Beds were comfy.

The dorm right next to the reception can get very noisy especially if you are planning on sleeping in.

Very clean dorms with ACs. They do not control the ACs or have timings unlike some other places. The common areas are huge and very nice. Towels and drinking water are free.

The luxuriant garden with plenty of hammocks is inviting to chill out, my only criticism that the smoking area corresponds to the space where the children watch TV, maybe something that could be improved in the future.

Lovely family-run hostel and probably the most sociable place for meeting fellow travellers upon arrival. My private room was far too huge for one person yet perfectly equipped, staying in an even more spacious good-value room in the adjacent guesthouse with a Seaview Rooftop Terrace on my second visit. Roberto, Pavel and the entire staff were very welcoming.

I had a bit of trouble finding the hostel, the sign is quite small.

Hostel was well located in the town and had nice garden area to relax and meet other travellers, bedroom was spacious and air conditioned. Kitchen area was big so was easy to cook. Good wifi.

We booked this accommodation again for our last night in Santa Cruz after we returned from visiting the other islands. Unfortunately they had a booking error and the hostel was overbooked, and upon arrival they put us in the hostel next door, which wasn’t great and not a place we would have booked ourselves. Also, the rate they charged us was more than what we would have paid booking directly with this other hostel, and when I raised this, they said we were welcome to book direct, but then we would have had more admin to sort out because this first booking was non refundable and we would technically have had to pay twice. So although I really liked this hostel, and I do understand booking system mistakes can happen, I felt this situation could have been handled better.

I would actually really recommend this hostel for anyone looking for a good value for money stay in Santa Cruz. Don’t expect luxury but it has everything you need, the rooms are big and clean, and the WiFi actually worked better than expected and it’s in a great central location. The hosts are super friendly and willing to help book anything / give advice etc.

The wifi was poor but that's all over the island. Could have been overall cleaner. Understandably an island hostel but even the sheets sometimes smelled of BO.

The location of the hostel is great - central to many of the booking locations for excursions, the water taxi, many restaurants and other things to do! The room was large and had an en suite but the bathroom had a weird smell always and could have been cleaner.

Staff was friendly, the location is perfect. Right next to the street with all the affordable local food options, 2 minutes from the port and everything you'll need is super close. The hostel itself was exactly what I expected and more. Lots of space in the common area with 3 or more hammock on the property. Highly recommend. You can't go wrong. The managers offered fantastic recommendations and made our stay perfect.

Excellent location a few minutes walk from the pier and close to restaurants, shops and places to hire snorkel gear etc. Pavel was really helpful with suggestions for things to do and all the staff were friendly. Nice terrace to relax.
