Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandThere's nothing not to like.
The room and its bathroom were clean and pretty big. We slept very well since the bed was comfortable and the AC cooled the room to pleasant temperature. Moreover, this hostel had the fastest Wifi of all the places we stayed at in the Galapagos Islands. Lastly, the owner is super nice and he gave us lots of good recommendations.

GermanyThe WiFi reception in the room (third floor) was not super good. Outside good connection. No kitchen, so you can't cook or have a tea. The location is good 20 mins. walk from the center (or 1,50$ taxi), but we liked to see the local life there.
The room has a good size, the beds are comfortable, and the shower is super nice. There is water to refill your bottle. WiFi is quite fast (outside of our room). The owner helps with tours and excursions.

United StatesThere are some barking dogs in the neighborhood at night, which sometimes made it hard to sleep. But this is not the hotel’s fault and I have found this is the case with a couple of places in Galapagos.
Great and comfortable place to stay. Helpful staff. Location is easy to walk or bike ride to the beach and the main strip here. Everything was clean and we enjoyed our stay. The price is also very good.

United StatesCasa cascada is a lovely place in Puerto Ayora. The beds are comfortable, facilities clean, staff is helpful and accommodating and the price is very affordable for Puerto Ayora. It is a safe 15 minute walk or so to the waterfront. The staff helped me secure a ferry ticket when they were sold out and assisted me in planning my trip.

United StatesNo problems :)
Excellent service, very kind and helpful. I didn’t plan my trip well and needed to make several last minute changes. They were very accommodating and helpful. They also helped me get a ticket for a sold out ferry and book a stay in San Cristobal when many places were full for Semana Santa. They really saved my trip! It is an easy 15-20 minute walk from the center of town, or only $1.50 to taxi anywhere. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, the A/C is great and the price is VERY fair, a great value. I highly recommend Casa Cascada!

United KingdomThe location was quite a walk from the main centre, between 15 and 20 minutes. The reception wasn't a 24 hour reception as stated on booking.com. There was a bit of a hassle using the kitchen and I got the impression they didn't really want it used. I was told I would be given a key and to make sure I cleaned up after myself. And if I wanted to use it for 3 meals a day there would be an extra charge. I was then told I could use another kitchen later in the week once other guests had left but that never materialised. The coffee house on site is a table next to the water machine with some polystyrene cups, a few tea bags, a jar of coffee and some wooden spoons. I couldn't lock the door to the room from the inside or outside due to the door dropping so the locking bolt didn't match up with hole which meant the door had to be lifted in order to lock it. I was told a carpenter would be out the next day but then ended up changing rooms with the other door doing the same thing but not as bad. The shower also stopped working entirely one morning, like it ran out of water, mid hair wash. When I went to reception to try and sort, there was nobody there. My new room had a double bed and 2 twin beds and I was told not to use the twin beds. The Wifi was sketchy at best but I think this is common throughout the island.
The rooms were spacious and the place was really clean. Laundry can be done the same day. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a shop just across the road which sells provisions.

ItalyIt is a little far from the main street where all the bars, restaurants and agencies are. If you don't mind walking 20 mins each way to get there then it's perfect. Alternatively it's a $1,50 taxi ride each way.
The hostel is spotless clean and the mattress was super comfortable. There is fresh water to drink all day long, hot water in the showers and the AC worked really well and very silently. Also the staff at reception was very polite and happy to help with anything.

United KingdomBrilliant place to stay. A 10 to 15 minute walk from the sea front. Big comfortable room. Could do with a new shower head but there was hot water 😃 so not a problem. Staff were great, we had our bed made every day !! WiFi you need to go out on the balcony to get a good reception but not a problem at all. Shops over the road. Would definitely recommend.

United KingdomIt's a little far from town but the neighborhood is lovely and it's still walkable from town. There's a shop across the road, and it's easy and cheap to take taxis in and out of the center.
Clean, spacious room with comfortable bed. Hot shower with shampoo and towels. Free drinking water. Friendly and welcoming staff. Wifi worked a little bit (some places on the island it didn't work at all). We slept very well here.

BulgariaIt’s not something we didn’t like, as it is clear what the location is, but it might be far for someone looking to be close to the main attractions. However, the property is located on a main road with lots of stores nearby.
The hosts were very nice and assisted us with everything we asked for. They arranged a taxi for us and quickly fixed an issue we had with the shower. They even know some English which was rather rare among the people we met. The rooms are spacious and quite clean. They even cleaned them every day during our stay.

Germanythe wifi was really bad, sometimes not reaching at all, or no signal. this seems to be a common problem in Galapagos, but I think there can be some improvement in the reception at least. i didn’t like that the hosts were a bit pushy with tours, otherwise they were really lovely. it is quite a walk to the center.
the room was so spacious, the bed very comfortable and it was cleaned daily. there was water to use / refill along with tea / coffee. I really felt comfortable. the host was so patient with me using their wifi and mobile internet, when I urgently needed to download some documents.

United StatesI can’t say if this is for the whole city or happened to be the dogs living near the hostel, but many nights it was hard to sleep because nearby dogs were barking frequently late into the night.
The owners and family were extremely friendly and offered a lot of advice on various activities in the area. It was clean and spacious. The location was about 15 minutes walking from the main port and tourist area of the city, so you must walk or taxi, but I enjoyed getting to see other parts of the city that I probably wouldn’t have seen if I stayed in a more central location.

United Arab EmiratesEverything was excellent.
I will recommend to stay in Casa Cascada to everyone! Hosts are incredible! I felt so welcomed and well informed about Puerto Ayora, where to go, what to do. They were amazing source of information. Rooms are exceptionally clean and well maintained. My room was cleaned every day (if you don't want that, they will adjust to your request) And one of the best thing, is the breakfast! Served on a roof terace, beautifully dressed up table with delicious food! The owner is making his own jogurt and it is amazing!!! There is also a free flowing coffee all day long! I was traveling alone. And Rocio was checking on me via whatsapp when I didn't inform her that I won't be staying overnight in my room. She was worried when I didn't come back to the Hostal. I found it so sweet. I've never expected that someone will care about my well-being. It wasn't controlling, it was a pure care. How wonderful is that!
