Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI was slightly confused by the payment methods. Would be worth them clarifying that paying in cash is an option rather than trying to do an international bank transfer.
Coffee, fresh water and fruit out all the time for snacks. Shower was great, hot and powerful. Rooms were thought out and really cute. Fantastic location and all the staff were lovely!

United KingdomThis place is amazing! Such good value for money and our favourite place we stayed on the Galapagos. The rooms are so pretty and stylish, beds comfortable and the shower lovely and hot. The owners are very friendly, nice and welcoming too! You get breakfast included, and if you have a tour they will set it up early for you. There is also free drinking water, coffee and tea available in the dining area for whenever you want. Highly, highly recommend!

One of those places that makes you feel good even before arrival. We exchanged tons of messages with Lourdes who takes care of logistics, tours, other details. Thanks to her our trip went smooth as silk and worries free. Hotel is modest but has everything you need. Only AC may be bit too loud for those with sleeping challenges, for us it was fine. Price is well ballanced, skip those places luring with so called pools, that are basically holes in the cement, I checked many of them personally. You come for nature and good vibes, leave pools for Miami.

United KingdomBit of a trundle from the port to the B&B with your luggage; take a taxi! It's cheap and convenient and you will have a better temper when you arrive!
If island hopping, you must pass through Puerto Ayora/Santa Cruz several times. We used this B&B for a brief overnight stop and to catch an early morning ferry to Isla Isabella. The owner is chatty and helpful, and happy to give out information and advice. We liked the place despite our brief stay. It is located very c; close to the main tourist restaurant street.

Max’s place was excellent, he has really thought about all the little things and would 100% stay here again, it exceeded expectations. We had a super king sized bed that was so comfy and the room was large with a hammock too. The included breakfast was good and you can help yourself to bananas, tea and coffee throughout the day. The air conditioning works well and the rooms are cleaned daily with sheets and towels changed without asking. Water is provided in a bottle to brush your teeth which is a nice touch as you aren’t able to drink the tap water in the Galapagos, as well as filtered water provided in the main lobby. Max was also really helpful with recommendations and knowledgeable about the island and in general was a friendly presence and lovely to be around!

SingaporeThe hammock in my room had a loose bolt and I didn't trust using it. Lukewarm water, but you don't need hot water here. It cost me $80/night which is high. BUT I also stayed in a $25/hostal in town with the same proximity to town main points and heres what I experienced as different... the hostel was loud and the windows were thin. The ac did not work, I has to ask for a fan, not the same. The bed at the hostel was less comfortable and the linens were cheap. Breakfast not included, no hell booking tours. If those differences are worth an extra $55/night (they are for me usually but depends on how long I'm traveling!), then go to Capitan Max's.
It's soooo quiet which is a fantastic respite in South America. The air conditioning is powerful, a break from the equatorial heat. The location is perfect, on a side street but within less than a clock of a main intersection and only a few more blocks to the Malecon or center of town as it were. There's Max is pretty much always present and is happy to help with tours! He also allows you to leave luggage if your room isn't ready here or at your next stop.

GermanyWe liked everything, a very good family-run hotel. We particularly liked attention to details, our room was pre-airconditioned, there is cleaned water prepared at sink, there are coffee, water and bananas in main area. Hosts are very friendly and helped us with everything. Bed and shower are also very good. Silent and cleaned aircon.

Great location, nice small clean B&B all on one floor. Lots of hot water and good airconditioning in our room. Drinking water, a pot of Coffee and Fruit were made available all day, which was a nice touch. Must say, the place is run by a lovely host. He cooked us a lovely breakfast, we would stay here again, you won't be disappointed.

United StatesCapitan Max was wonderful, great location, and very clean. We last minute shortened our 5 day stay to a 2 day stay when we decided to go to another island which they were extremely accommodating about. We had a wonderful breakfast and the day we left early for the ferry there was cereal/fruit/toast/coffee. The rooms are private and spacious. We were helped with room towels, booking a ferry, etc. We have stayed in three places on Santa Cruz with Capitan Max being the best!
