Had a wonderful stay in Chez Maria Julia. Perfect location, near to the beach and shops and not far to the centre and other attractions. The staff in the hotel are extremely helpful and friendly and make your stay very comfortable. Also the food and menu is great. I would highly recommend.

The reception is often empty. So, if you need something you need to walk around the hotel looking for someone. Nonetheless, when you find a person they are very helpful.

The hotel is new and clean. Maria Júlia herself is always around. She bakes fresh buns in the morning and prepares whatever you ask her to. The staff are sweet and helpful. The location is great! And the bar at the terrace is very pleasant.

Location far from the Plateau area but close to Quebra Canela (10 min walk) with various restaurant options. Don’t book the airport transfer via the hotel, they charge 20€ per person versus a fixed rate of 1500 CVE at the airport, there are always taxis waiting (40€ for 2 vs 13,50€). Same for private tours, they charge additionally

It is not properly operated. The Chef is the owner. Many things in the room don’t work. Staff don’t smile, speak English, rooms are not cleaned, no complimentary water in room, the location is a bit out of the center and in a residential neighborhood, restaurant not open on Sundays. The breakfast is limited and only available in a two hour window.

As i told the owner maybe a tea / coffeemaker in the rooms. For the rest it was a nice stay.

Is is nice new building with really good beds, good working wifi and friendly staf. It is not to big but has a friendly atmosphere. I talked to the owner and she just started a couple of months ago. So still developing and improving. It is a little out of the center of the city but in walking distance of the nice beach with bars and restaurants Quebra Canela. They picked me up in the middle of the night even though the flight was delayed quite a bit.

The hotel is beautiful. Every detail is exquisite. The facilities are clean and well kept. The cuisine is authentic and is without a doubt, scrumptious. With every meal, it was guaranteed to exceed all expectations. The staff is very welcoming and made our family feel right at home. It was our first trip to Cabo Verde and due to a large part of how the staff made us feel during our stay, we hope it will be one of many.

The place is brand new, there are things that are still work in progress, which is absolutely normal, and the owner is very open to feedback and is always present. Whatever were my minor inconveniences - they were sorted out instantly.

After 2 weeks on Santiago this is the only place I genuinely would recommend. First of all, the location. The famous Plateau is good only for a very short visit. This area is much nicer, safer, more relaxed. There are a lot of beautiful and colorful houses around, as well as many really nice restaurants / bars and the central beach (which is really good!) - all within 15 min walk max. The owner of the hotel really pays attention to every single detail. The staff is not just friendly, they are also very professional and truly understand what does it mean to work in HoReCa (which is rarely the case on Santiago unfortunately!) My stay was super comfortable and I appreciated that everyone was going above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and relaxed. I was very touched when I didn’t feel too well and the owner made sure to constantly check on me and provide me with everything and anything needed. The restaurant and bar by the hotel are very nice as well, overall it felt like a very fair value for money and I wish I’d make this place my main base during my trip.
