Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

I had a great time at la selva and loved the guided tour in the morning, we saw a lot of animals and the guide was very knowledgeable. The facilities are basic but provide all the necessities, it’s amazing to be completely immersed in the forest.

United KingdomNa, impossible, absolutely sound and not at all imposing that it is a research facility.
Absolutely loved it, probably my favourite stop. Very comfortable rooms, clean, well organised and a free tour which was very informative. Saw sloth, reptiles, loads of birds and insect. Mammals were everywhere too. Wife saw the Honduran White Bat which was on the hit list. Food was great and scheduled, so helped keep structure in the day. Loads of coffee and cold water available on tap.

United StatesMy only suggestion would be to have screen doors in addition to all the screen windows.
Being in the middle of a beautiful protected ecosystem where one can explore the wonders of nature and take advantage of the expert guides from the station is simple amazing. It is inspiring to be around all the young people who are there studying, too. The accommodations are basic but clean and the 15 minute walk to and from the dining area is truly a bonus! Just be sure to have your raincoat or an umbrella at all times. At night fireflies and the orange lights of flying beetles will help light your way. Magical! The food was a complete surprise. The chef is supremely talented and the meals were varied, nutritious and simply delicious. They serve you buffet style so you can request the appropriate portion for your need. Everything is ecologically sound. It is a hot and humid place but the showers are excellent and I just imagined standing under a cool waterfall before bedtime! With the good fans over each bed it is possible to sleep well. Excellent and inexpensive laundry service on sight. The boat trip down the Sarapiqui river is very nice, too. We saw many creatures…cayman, crocodiles, iguanas plus SO many birds.

We loved everything .We stayed here 5 years ago so returned with friends, this time. We were all very impressed with the professional staff and their friendliness and willingness to help us out.The morning nature tour was magnificent, saw plenty of wildlife and our guide Talvo was informed and so helpful and knowledgeable and had a lovely persona.Accomodation was very good, housekeeping changed sheets after 2 nights, plenty of towels and a good shower. We ate in the canteen for all meals except one.We went out to the local town one night for dinner and was very disappointed. Meals were excellent in the canteen and good value.La Selva is a very special place and if you are interested in wildlife put this on your itinerary, you won't be disappointed

Costa RicaCheck-in was a bit confusing as we arrived after dark and did not know where to go. Another couple visiting there were helpful in showing us where to go.
Breakfasts were really good with different items daily made with fresh ingredients! The room was very basic but clean and comfortable. The star of the show is the magnificent forest that has been blessed with seventy years of protection! We loved our daily walks in the majestic stillness, punctuated by wonderful sightings of Agoutis, Currasows, and Great Green Macaws! The staff was courteous and helpful. Maps and signs were very helpful in planning our walks. We had a wonderful visit!

Abkhazia, GeorgiaThe breakfast was adequate in a pleasant open, convenient location. The staff in the reception office were especially friendly and helpful. The guides for our hikes were very knowledgeable and responsive to participants. They showed and briefly described important research being done there. The area is incredibly beautiful and full of magnificent wildlife. I appreciated the emphasis on sustainability.

United KingdomAs this is a research station accommodation is naturally dormitory style. We felt the accommodation was a little over priced as beds were a little uncomfortable and pillows needed updating. One fan cools the 6 bedded room. Meals are served canteen style.
Fantastic national park, full of wildlife and trials you can follow easily. A three hour tour included in the overnight stay is included - this was very informative and the guide really took time to explain and show us the environment.

FranceThe reserve is beautiful. The entrance for the reserve is included. A tour guide us also included (and it is the best part, thanks for this tour again). But, accomodations are 15-20 minutes walking from the reception and the dining hall so take note of this. Meals are 15$ each also. But the reserve and the staff are totally amazing

United KingdomThe accommodation is basic but who cares, you're not there for the room-you are there for a once in a lifetime wildlife opportunity and that is what you get. On our free guided tour (with just three other lovely people and an expert guide) we saw two types of vipers, two types of poison dary frog, countless birds, armadillos, peckarys (and more) and learnt so much. Equally, walking the trails ourselves was amazing! The food was tasty and it was nice to meet all the scientists conducting research here. If you like wildlife, make the effort and go. Also, if like us you are backpacking with huge, heavy bags, you can ask to leave them at reception and just take what you need to your room. We travelled all around Costa Rica and this was our favourite location.

CanadaPillows and mattresses need replacing but still slept fine. Maybe more places to hang wet clothes (hooks?).
Amazing and immersive rainforest experience. The forest itself is the true star of the show. The diversity of wildlife is outstanding. It was so special to have the researchers for the guides (you get a free morning tour if you stay there and we paid for a night tour). We saw and learned so much. we stayed for two nights with full board and loved every moment. Its not a hotel and we really enjoyed that it was something different. We embraced it as a place for learning and enjoyed that everyone was there for the same reason.
