Fist of all: - They gave me a different room than that one I booked. - The bufet restaurant was dirty. - They don’t help with your luggage at all.

I can’t said much about this hotel. I arrived at 8:00 pm and I left at 10:00pm. ( I ask for a refund)

guests would leave garbage around the pool or fruit in the pool and it wasn't often cleaned up. We wished there were more chairs with opportunity for shade. The hammocks were not as comfortable as the recliners It wasn't an issue for us but I don't remember seeing it anywhere that the resort was situated on a very large hill which could pose issues getting around the resort if you have mobility issues. There is a shuttle that comes often that takes you all over the resort but also requires steps up and down to get in and out of. again this wasn't an issue for us but good to know for other guests.

view was incredible, staff at the beach were always helpful and would grab chairs for you if you asked. shuttles around the property were helpful since the resort was situated on a huge hill, and they came often. breakfast was always good and was replenished often as was the rest of the food. other meals were okay. excursion staff were so helpful in assisting my husband and I book our excursion that we did last minute.

The food was absolutely terrible and repetitive. I saw the reviews about it but we're not picky people and have stayed at many budget friendly resorts. So wasn't really worried about it. But we were very unprepared for how bad it really was. Even at the specialty Italian restaurant they served buffet style with several of the dishes being the same as the buffet. We actually went out to eat several times because it was really bad. If they improved the food the place would be GREAT!!

The location, room size, and staff . The views, pools, and the beach was amazing!!

Food was just ok. The two restaurants, which you need reservations for, are just buffet style. You are better off just eating at the buffet. The alcohol options are terrible- white or red wine, off brand liquor with one option for each of the staple liquors - vodka, gin, tequila, etc. They have bottled soda for mixers. No aperitif’s or other liqueurs for cocktails. No sparkling wine. Drinks only available from 11am - 9pm. No food/drink service on the beach. No one to help with your luggage. Lots of stairs so be prepared to carry your own bags to the shuttle pick up points. Front desk is poor at communicating. Messages through what’s app do not get replied to in a timely manner.

Beautiful views from the pool, buffet area. Good AC in the room and the shuttle service ran frequently to get you to the beach and pool/restaurant area. Room was dated, but comfortable. Nice beach area, but limited chairs. Wait staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

The rooms and the food were NASTY. The same crappy food and snack everyday. we ended up eating just French fries and old chips almost everyday. We were treated very badly the whole time. We had to change rooms 3 times before we were left with no other options but to upgrade to their “platinum” rooms which were just regular rooms after all. NOTHING extra came with the upgrade that they made us pay $80/night for. first the clerk said it was $60 then he called someone and told us it was $100/night to upgrade. There were a lot more issues during our stay (including the fact that NOBODY helped us to our rooms with our bags) I don’t have time to list them all.

The pools and the view were nice.

    - Very poor information on what we needed to do with the car, check-in, etc. upon arriving. - The pool and restaurant had very loud music which made it unpleasant to eat or drink there. All the pools were filled with children. We never did find the “adult only” pool. - The majority of the staff were pleasant, but a couple were very rude and overall they seemed poorly trained. - Instructions regarding the shuttle service around the hotel were unclear. We were never told there were 2 different shuttles to different resorts. Also, at certain times we had to wait for 3-5 shuttles to pass before we could catch one as they were all full. - The explanation of the different amenities was unclear. We found the bar by the beach by luck. - The food overall was horrible.

    - The room was nice but missing simple items like sugar and cream for the coffee or Kleenex.

The food is terrible and unsanitary. None of the staff used gloves or face coverings to serve food. Their sweat and hands touched the inside of the beverage containers and they refilled the beverage dispensers with buckets (like laundry buckets). It is buffet style with the same items offered all 3 days we stayed, food was simply reheated. We chose to eat in town instead and recommend Aqua and Green restaurants nearby. The kids activities were broken and not available. The bumper cars only had two working units. The pizza restaurant did not allow us to order and take out. All family members had to be physically present and don’t understand the policy if it’s allegedly ALL INCLUSIVE. The rooms were clean but very outdated. The parking lot is far from amenities and they offered a pick up truck shuttle that was dirty to get to your room and parking lot. They do not provide clean towels on demand. You have to leave them outside and then they replace them when convenient for staff. The beach club store is overpriced and the beach itself did not offer shade nor chairs nor clean amenities.

The only good thing about this property is its proximity to neighboring beaches we explored, which are all hard to get to and had turbulent waters, not ideal for kids.

Disappointing Xmas. Such a shame for my children

Staff are indifferent and rude - they don't care about your stay or make the children feel excited or included. One young, male member of staff laughed at me whilst I was crying in despair about the accommodation and the other issues/complaints. The food is repetitive and has hardly any taste. They reheat yesterday's food. The staff are rude, they don't smile and act as though you're an annoyance, even when my children were getting an ice cream or something from the candy floss stand, I saw their blank/indifferent expressions - it made my children uncomfortable to go back to them One staff member - Lewis, the barman, was absolutely brilliant and they don't deserve him! There's no pool table, as advertised. No customer care. They did nothing special for Xmas day. No entertainment. This place's saving grace is its view. The pools are nice. Upon check-out, the scissors were straight out to remove my all inclusive wrist band - no question as to whether I enjoyed my stay or a gesture to say we could stay and have some lunch whilst waiting for our transport to the airport. I had asked a driver we'd had the previous day, what the cost would be for airport transfer - apparently he'd been in reception for an hour waiting for us just before we left our room - as I didn't have wifi in my room, he couldn't get hold of me. Why didn't reception call the phone in my room or come and tell me?! So rude and incompetent. I then had to get the tour organizer, Javier, to get a taxi for me - we waited an hour and paid $60 - despite being told there was a free airport transfer in our booking details So much false advertising - no pool table, no transfer, no wifi, no smart tv, no Christmas meal or celebrations. Despite the 35* degree heat, the atmosphere was subzero.

It was awful Upon check-in it's all about money straight away - their main concern. No warmth and excitement, which you expect in a holiday resort. No wifi in rooms - which they clearly haven't had for a long time, as I can see from previous reviews - I was given no explanation or solution and couldn't work from my room. I asked about the Christmas meal and Victor, the assistant manager said that they didn't do anything specific (despite messages I have to the contrary, saying that they did) and that I would need to come to reception at 8.30am - to queue and get reservation for one of the 3 restaurants - just what you want to do on vacation. Hand over around $1400 for 3 nights and set an alarm to get a dinner reservation. Where is the sense in this? Why not allow guests to reserve a table upon check-in or between 11-12? Just another inconvenience, that makes you feel as though you're of no importance to them. The 2 bed / one bedroom apartments are hostel- like in their appearance and vibe - I felt as though I had stepped back in time, to the 1940's. Double beds are tiny - I don't carry a tape measure, but am pretty sure they're large singles. Sleeping with my 6'6" husband wasn't easy and it was extremely hot as the air-con kept breaking and leaking on and off, we had to have the maintenance people out a few times. When I told reception, I was told I should inform Booking.com! My daughter has an auto immune illness, so I had to set her up on the horrible excuse for a sofa bed as I was concerned about her over heating and inhaling AC coolant. My son was extremely uncomfortable and due to sensory issues that come with autism, he struggled with sleep (temp changes/noises/ which in turn affect us all. Broken sleep, subpar food, rude staff and a horrible sense of regret was all consuming and an extremely depressing end to our holiday. Very steep hill to get to the main part of hotel.

Most of it, the arrival was horrible. Nobody was helping. We are a family of 4 with a toddler and a newborn. It was complicated to transport our luggage to our room. No wifi in the room… that was unexpected and to get connection you have to take a shuttle to the reception. The food was the worst we had in a long time. No healthy options. There was mold in the bathroom also.

To be honest, leaving was the best part.

Pictures look nothing like the place. Check in process is painfully slow since it's done by hand . Found a bed bug infestacion coming from the deep layers of the bed. They served me a moldy blue breakfast . Problem being that the manager stated that he doesn't care so instead of a nice getaway I ended up with bed bug bites and a projectile ocean view vomit. The "buffet" is just one option so being at an all inclusive and hungry is ridiculous. Ended up eating at the next door restaurant therefore spending more. If you are trying to avoid a pest and food poisoning stick with the very clean RIU or Planet Hollywood, I paid more money here than at those other amazing places. THIS IS JUST A SCAM, a place with no management will be a nightmare for sure.

The property is rated 4* but it is more like a 2.5-3*. It is old & outdated. The buffet food is bland & not much variety. After spending 2 weeks here we ate out at the many restaurants on the beach. We were told we could order room service from a very limited menu at anytime, however, we were able to get it once & it took an hour to be delivered. The other times we tried, but it was not available. In order to reserve the 3 restaurants on site, you needed to line up at 1pm but you better get there an hour before if you wanted to get in. Also, you had to chose your menu on the spot which made it time consuming because many people couldn’t decide. If they had the menus posted on the desk, it would have made life easier! It would have been nice to have chairs to sit on while waiting instead of having to stand up for an hour or to sit on the dirty floor! This resort really caters to the Ticos! Most of the entertainment is in Spanish. The entertainment board is written in Spanish, room instructions are in Spanish. They said they don’t have English info at this moment but I believe they never do. Therefore, communication was difficult. The Ticos come on the weekends which makes it busier but the Saturday Buffet has more variety as a result. Around the pools, there are very limited loungers & shady areas. The loungers are old & uncomfortable & are on a first come basis. Some people hold their loungers for hours without being used. Sometimes, it can be very windy by the pools to the point that you can’t enjoy it because everything is flying around. The Olam Spa is outdated. I had several treatments there. The massages, facials & body scrubs were excellent. I had a mani & pedi. I wouldn’t recommend pedi because they don’t soak your feet in a bath. The staff is quite friendly there. There was a medical emergency when we were there in the evening. Someone came by with a medical kit until the ambulance arrived.

The views & Playa Hermosa Beach were spectacular. The Asian, Seafood & Italian Restaurants were very good. Ronald, Fernanda, Cesar & Edward were outstanding staff for hospitality. The pools were lovely. Enjoyed the popcorn/Churro truck & ice cream kiosk. The shuttle buses were convenient. The fire show is a must see! The A/C worked well & the shower had excellent pressure. There was a power outage for a short time.

Except for one bartender and two waiters, everyone else seemed to be having a bad day, had a bad attitude, or lied to our face. For example, allegedly only our condo had no hot water due to emergency work (but no one else we asked had any). And as we checked-out, they wanted us to pay for five cards for the pool when they only gave us two on arrival (we didn't even try the pool) and we returned them). The towels were rough and old, and felt like fine sandpaper. The room and bathroom were dirty and in need of some fresh paint/maintenance or upkeep. The kitchen smelled like old, burn frying oil. And all the food was disgusting except for the omelettes custom made on request. Christmas Day food looked and tasted like recycled leftovers from the night before (Christmas Eve). And that dinner on Christmas Eve was by far the worst we've had anywhere in Costa Rica. The photos, room description, and other info published by Condovac regarding Christmas meals and the like were all extreme misleading if not outright fraudulent in some cases (i.e. ocean views are photographic illusions). My wife and I have never written a poor review of any location we've visited in all the countries we've visited. But Condovac went so far out of their way to mislead us that we reluctantly decided.to write this review. Please seriously consider staying away from this place. You've been warned.

Location was alright. Playa Hermosa is worthwhile visiting.
