Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BulgariaThe cost of stay is pretty high, as well as anything you buy there, but it was worth it because the facilities were up to the standard.
The premises of the resort are pretty big and there's a lot of preserved nature, so that's really nice. The check-in was easy, the room was nice, we had the last little hut-room in the row of huts and our windows looked directly into the jungle/forest, so that was nice, too. The property has access to 2 beaches - Playa Mantas seems to be public, even though i'm not sure how anyone outside the resort would get there, but Playa Blanca is private and you have to show a resort bracelet (or pay, i assume) to get there. And i understand why - cause boy, is that a beautiful beach!!! We had a delicious meal in their restaurant, had drinks, had fun with all the monkeys that come and try to steal things and then watched the most beautiful sunset. All in all, we had a wonderful experience! We also liked that the resort is not far away from San Jose and we could go directly to the airport from here for our flight at noon instead of having to spend the night in the capital. It was about a 2-hr drive to the airport (that's about 1 hr 15 min the whole way and about an hour for the last 5 km bc of crazy traffic :D so keep that in mind)

Costa RicaNo information (labeling) to where the Carabela's Restaurant was relative to our rooms and we ended up in another restaurant that we had to pay (we had breakfast included). Luckily the restaurant staff as soon as they realized that, offer lunch for free.

CanadaThere was no written information as to how to contact the front desk 24/7. We ere given the reception number but it closed at a certain hour. For example—We had ‘key’ issues and physically had to drive to reception to resolve them.
The staff did their best to accommodate any issues we had promptly. They also compensated for glitches that came up in a very professional way.

Costa RicaService at the restaurant in front of Playa Blanca was deficient, we had to get our own menu, we ordered and it took like 30 minutes to get our food, I asked if there was cake because it was my daughter's birthday and the guy forgot my request. Roads are in bad shape. There was a bad smell in the dressing and bathroom area at the location in playa blanca.
The beach is beautiful

United StatesCommunication! As a family we struggled with knowing where things were located within the very large complex that is shared by many othere resorts and housing developments. We had asked for a map and list of activities on arrival and were only given a poor print out that was very difficult to use. We thought from the pictures that everything was clustered together and that once we got there we could walk to the pools and beaches, etc, but that was not the case. Everything is spread out with other houses and complexes inbetween the pools and the housing, and the beach, etc. It took us a day of driving around, getting lost and asking directions before we knew where things were located within this large area of densely packed housing communities. The last day we went to reception and asked about prices for things and they then gave us a print out of activities happening within the resort area. We asked why they didn't give us this when we arrived even tho we asked for information and they appologized.
The meals are great and the pools, once you find them are amazing.

United StatesShow more pictures of the community and perhaps a map of the property to show the layout. I would like a bit more character in the room and not the bare bones set up it now is: no decorations, a living room with only 2 chairs in it.
We did not know what to expect, and the pictures did not show an accurate view. It is an extensive gated property with a lot of what seem to be privately owned or time-share houses and apartments. The resort has 2 (semi) private beaches that are gorgeous, but the facilities feel a bit dated. We stayed in a 6-person apartment. All the bare necessities were there, but nothing more. We loved going to Playa Blanco, and the hotel pass gave us free access and parking. But the towel service is only valid at the pool at the main resort. We loved the overall experience, but it felt more like a community of regular visitors than a hotel/resort.

Costa RicaAll the facilities are too far from each other, you literally need a car to move from one place to the other (for example your room, restaurants, the pool area) or to go to playa blanca, there is a transportation service but you have to wait for it every 30 minutes if am not mistaken, I would not recommend the place to someone who doesn't have a vehicle. The private street to reach the hotel is not in very good condition and there is another route that is public but that route is even worse. Beds were not very confortable.
Staff was great, very clean rooms and area. The restaurant was great and the pizza was delicious. The gourmet breakfast was great also. Playa blanca was very nice and super clean. The pool was also pretty nice and we were able to see many animals. There are small stores wre you can buy snacks or essentials. The hotel is far away from the main street or any other rural areas so is very quiet and relaxing.

United StatesThe beds were not comfortable in the apartment we stayed in 7204. There were only 3 chairs with cushions for 5 people in our group in the living area.
The pools were amazing. The property was much much bigger than anticipated and I was surprised how far the 6 person apartment was away from the facilities like the pools and beach, etc. Playa Blanca was beautiful, tables and chairs were available but we brought our own beach chairs because previous reviews mentioned beach chairs were not available. There was a rip tide so need to be careful. Lifeguards were on duty at both the pools and the beach.Didn't get a chance to play mini golf due to rain. A fallen tree knocked out a pole and internet but it was fixed within a day. Plenty of towels were available in the apartment and cards were given to get towels at the pool.

United StatesHad to wear a wrist band the entire time (cut off when departed). All the gate accesses felt elitest. I could see a gate for resort specific stuff, but did not like the gate for the road to the area and anorher road gate near the second beach. Maybe I am just not a resort person.
Resort place near two pretty, small beaches. Have to drive or resort shuttle to beaches or long walk. Saw number of scarlet macaws with morning walk on first beach. Enjoyed the butterfly garden. Excellent breakfast buffet - and monkeys came to the area while we ate.
