Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Property sits on top of mountain with wonderful views and good restaurant. Car ride up hill is necessary due to steepness.

New ZealandLighting in the apartment could have been better. But that’s being really picky.
Great location, friendly staff. Very relaxed, beers and food on the deck with a view of the wall!

ChinaThe drive up the steep hill is not easy and you cannot walk up and down it without great effort. Some Didi drivers refused to go up all the way. Also, know your prices because the staff tried to price gouge me and charge 100 yuan for 10 small bottles of water and 100 yuan for a 30 yuan Didi ride.
The view from the property is really great and there are cool viewing platforms near the restaurant and coffee shop.

GermanyThe view is wonderful, the room spacious with a great terrace. However it looks like the staff is running the hotel by themselves without a professional management team. Also you need a car because the hotel is on the top of a hill. We still had a nice time but it is too expensive for what it is. The staff was very friendly & kind.

ChinaThe staff was very helpful but cannot speak English so that complicated things slightly when some support was needed and there is no room cleaning during the stay
Very nice place with a very good view of the great wall, the room is very spacey and well equipped, a good place to have a "city d-tox" with good privacy

China- no hot shower. - the room is cold (no central heating). - slippery trails (no stairs from one room to the next). - pricey food. - sheer almost-see-through curtains.
- secluded modern and chic cabin. - friendly and helpful local staff and receptionists. - a breathtaking view. - balcony surrounded with greenery. - pet friendly room. - room interior design.

China- Reception area looks not maintained & generally ugly compared to the rooms - rooms have plenty of small-ish stuff which are in need of repairs (broken window, lights not holding properly) - dirty windows in the room - staff is mixed story - feeling wise like village home stay - will all good and bad it comes with. People are smiling, trying to help - but chaotic, not talking to each other, noisy,..). - overall place would benefit from some professional touch/management - it has a big potential to be a luxury place, but at this point it’s a luxury wannabe … still worth to stay for the view though.
- Location on the mountain is nice - we got bad luck with pollution & limited visibility, but if you get clear sky day - view from this place will be great. - fun road to the hotel - very steep; make sure you go there with car; I’d not want to walk that with luggage - interior of the room was quite modern looking & nice + clean; even though lacked some basic maintenance - restaurant is good (Chinese local oily & salty food, but good)…if you’re in location longer, you’ll probably want to run away for some foreign food (+ expensive beer, get some in convenience stores along the road)

ChinaInformation on transportation both to and from Beijing and to the Wall itself. We paid 500 Y for the taxi to the hotel because the Didi App couldn't locate the hotel. It only cost 125 Y coming back by Didi which worked fine when we were there. Perhaps the hotel could do something to provide cheaper transportation and particularly support drivers who don't mind tackling the formidable driveway, which is both steep and long.
While the price was a little high compared to other places of this standard, you cannot beat it for its location and the serenity of the environment that it is situated within. The staff are great and do their best to make sure that you have what you need and when you need it. The views from the room, if it isn't foggy, are simply stunning and time seems to stand still when you are staying there. Stan kindly provided us with transport to and from the Great Wall and this helped to set up a wonderful day for us.

ChinaRoom was very, very moldy. Bed clothes and towels smelt of mold, also all the windows didn't open so it was impossible to move the smell of mold. They at first refused to move us saying that we needed to pay more. They also said that the mold was due to the weather, but the truth is the room just should not have been up for rent. After quite a lot of back and forth we got moved to different room and left a day early. The communication between the staff was very poor, they didn't seem to communicate at all which added to the stress of the situation. Breakfast is cheap, but there isn't much options.
Great location, right beside Mutianyu.
