Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandThe food in the restaurant wasn’t the nicest
Perfect location, great staff and amenities. They have daily activities you can join in on e.g. fish feeding, kayak tours. You get kayaks, bicycles, hammocks and snorkel equipment. There is a pool table and table tennis. Really nice pool area with day beds. Outdoor shower was fantastic. Yum cocktails and cheap with happy hour. We really enjoyed our stay and the views were amazing.

AustraliaA couple of first world problems. Firstly, the price of the accommodation demands free wif-fi. I know you are on holidays, but you still want to interact with the outside world. Secondly, it was strange that the resort ran out of bottled water on the first day, as it did with a number of wines. If almost felt like they were like on stop credit with their suppliers. Thirdly, the menu was repetitive. A chef's daily special would have been nice.
World class location that takes your breath away. The staff were excellent and called you by your first name! The lagoon is a bucket list item for sure.

My recent stay at Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort was an unforgettable tropical paradise experience. From the moment I arrived, the attentive and friendly staff made me feel like royalty. They went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my stay was perfect, from accommodating special requests to providing excellent recommendations for local activities and excursions. The culinary offerings at the resort were nothing short of exceptional. Each meal was a delightful feast for the senses, featuring a fusion of local flavors and international cuisine. The chefs truly outdid themselves, and I found myself eagerly anticipating each meal. Dining amidst the stunning backdrop of the lagoon and the lush greenery only added to the overall experience, making it a truly unforgettable gastronomic journey. The view and nature at Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort were simply breathtaking. The crystal-clear turquoise waters of the lagoon, dotted with overwater bungalows, created a mesmerizing panorama. The resort's location on a private island ensured a peaceful and serene atmosphere, providing ample opportunities to immerse myself in the beauty of nature. Whether it was lounging on the beach or exploring the island's tropical foliage, every moment was an escape into paradise. Above all, the resort offered the perfect environment to relax and unwind. I spent my days lounging by the pool, indulging in spa treatments, and taking leisurely strolls along the shore. It was an oasis of tranquility where I could forget about the outside world and simply revel in the beauty and luxury that surrounded me. Without a doubt, Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort is a slice of heaven on earth, and I can't wait to return for another rejuvenating and blissful getaway.

New ZealandUmmm… nothing. Not one single issue whatsoever. Like others have said, leaving was bad!
The location is the best in Aitutaki for swimming and snorkelling. It seems to be the only resort that has deeper water for swimming. The snorkelling is ok but the best snorkelling in aitutaki is a boat trip away. I loved that we had our own bikes and stand up paddle boards and kayaks. The food was excellent and for variety it’s easy to go to other food outlets. The menu has some variation each day. Prices are so reasonable compared to other pacific locations. You can paddle over to a private island for a picnic. The scooter rental is walking distance. Honestly you couldn’t ask for more. We stayed in the overwater bungalow as it was a special occasion for us but the beachfront bungalows are brilliant too. One thing that was amazing is we had a family issue at home that required some support, the staff made us feel like whanau and went above and beyond.

New ZealandThere was a lot of work going on during our stay with the alterations and additions which turned the facility into a bit of dis organisation's and I don't mean the staff, they were excellent. Once the upgrades are complete I imagine this will be an exceptional world class resort, the location speaks for itself. Look forward to returning to see the resort complete and in full glory. Just hope it is not priced out of reach as a result.
Stunning location on the lagoon. Upgraded to beachfront room with top shelf view through the palms and over the lagoon.
