Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandVery dated, a stairwell had broke during our stay so concerned about the health and safety of the accommodation, food not great and entertainment at night on adult side poor.
Most of the staff very friendly and helpful, location if booking seaside, and the cocktails.

New ZealandCheck-in was disappointing, being told to wait in one place then another, 2 hrs later before room available and we had been up since 3am. The electric jug in the room didn't work, linen was short, the housekeepers came at odd hours so we chose to tidy our room and just get linen. As they were short staffed the resort offered $10 daily credit for no housekeeping, but you need to make sure this taken off the account on checkout. After the 2nd night of waiting for 2 hrs for dinner, we ate out for the remainder of our stay. My disappointment, 3 weeks prior to our arrival I asked if the resort was back up and running after the storm hit and assured everything was fine, which was not the case. The resort was full and they did not have the staff to cope. We sincerely hope they get back to norm soon.
We enjoyed the area on the resort we booked, as this was adults only (apart from the baby on the adults beach one afternoon) Breakfast was adequate, a reasonable selection for continental breakfast. The room was spacious for two and lovely outlook to the ocean.

New ZealandLack of music at times, sometimes there were no staff attending the bar and facilities. Food took ages and the quality of the food was lacking at times. Took ages to check in as there was only 1 person on reception
Breakfast had variety but sometimes ran out of some of the foods. Room was clean and had everything. Beach was great except for when there were bulldozers doing work

New ZealandHaving to share the reception with next doors Rarotongan means check in is super slow at busy times. Same goes for meals but we planned ahead so wasn’t a big deal.
Loved being steps away from the marine reserve and incredible snorkelling! The rooms were bigger than they looked in the pictures and were nice and quiet. The pool area was super chill being an adults only resort and even used the tennis equipment for quick hit which worked well. All team members were friendly and respectful!

New Zealandnothing
prior to our arrival, Rarotonga had had king tides and winds that caused substantial flooding and damage to the Rarotongan Resort. the Sanctuary side of the resort was okay and although we weren’t affected directly we appreciated the ongoing reassuring communication we received from the management. the staff were amazing and although people had cancelled, the positivity and attitude made our stay very enjoyable. the buses arrive/depart at the front door, always a experience to travel on😂 although it sounds selfish the fact it was adults only made for a calming experience after the 2+ years of Covid chaos

New ZealandBreakfast not up to standard for four star resort. Path outside water filtration room constantly wet and potentially a slipping danger. We were there 10 days after major sea surge and staff were working hard to prevent disruption to beach and facilities. Pool cloudy and not inviting.
Superb location (saw whales from our room). Staff fantastic, friendly and efficient. Generally comfortable although pillows like rocks. Evening meal adequate. Generally, a pleasant stay. Transport (we rented a car) essential in order to fully enjoy the island, although bus stop just outside resort.

New ZealandThere was no cleaning done by the pool table area and the state of the pool table in genral was in poor condition, with no chalk for the pool cues, there was no ping pong balls most of the time to play table tennis. As well the check in was slow and took a long time to get checked in.
The room was good as well the views, the beach was close to the room and in general we had a great holiday. Cocktails was done great by Gwen, she really knows her cocktails

New ZealandNo GF bread and ran out of GF cereal after day two. Service at dinner was very slow.
Breakfast was satisfactory, buffet style. Gluten free pancakes were made fresh for me each day. Staff were friendly and one of the managers went out of his way to find a hire car for our group of four. Room was satisfactory overlooking the beach. Large comfortable bed and a good sized bathroom. Room had ceiling fan and ac unit. The pool was clean and was protected from the wind. Beach had plenty of sun beds. Food was very good and plenty of options for cocktails. Hotel was in lovely surroundings and would describe as rustic.
