Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaInternet was very expensive, ideal hotel for families but sometimes overrun with children...noisy in the pool and hard for adults to swim without interruption. May not suit all solo adult travellers for this reason. Unfortunately the weather turned bad mid way through my stay which meant swimming in the beach was stopped. Reception staff lacked knowledge of local activities and tours, no brochures at reception nor of bus details. However, this was on full display at the sister hotel Club Raro. Really needed to do the orientation for all this information. Has to purchase bottled water with meals rather than glasses offered.
Double superior room with a beach view on the top floor was a bonus...think this was an upgrade, so an updated bathroom and very spacious room with comfortable bed and pillows. Continental breakfast had a good selection of food but would have loved cooked items included. Hard-working restaurant staff, food arrived quickly and was of generous portions and good quality. Good value drinks and a nice pour for the wines, house wines very nice.

New ZealandWe did have a not so nice experience at the spaghetti house unfortunately. I can’t complain about the food as that was delicious but the service was very poor. It was a busy night so I would have anticipated more floor staff. A shame to be fair because I have always looked forward to dining there but this time our group were underwhelmed.
Very friendly house and mals restaurant staff. To be honest I found all the staff throughout the resort lovely. Spaghetti house not so much.

New ZealandThe dining area needs updating. The tiles in the dining room were very slippery when wet. Decor is very tired. The food was very average. We had dinner one night and decided not to eat there again. The food was warm and seemed heated in a microwave. It was expensive and not tasty. Wouldn’t recommend eating there. Breakfast was average as well.
Clean and tidy. Easy to access

New ZealandBeing a member of the Coral Club (Gardenia member) after 9 visits to the Edgewater, I received none of the benefits mentioned in the Club brochure. Just checked in, handed a room key and told your room is in that block there, pointing to Pukapuka Block. All rooms could have a tea towel as well for drying cups and plates.
Clean and tidy and relaxing. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location was great, just a quick trip into the town

New ZealandThe only negative was the attitude of some of the staff. Some staff did not appear kind and helpful which was a shame.
We stayed in a 3 bedroom beachfront villa (family of 5, 2 adults and 3 teenagers) and this accommodation was perfect for our family! We absolutely loved it. The villa was clean and spacious. The main bedroom had an ensuite bathroom and a dressing/luggage room. The bedrooms were huge and the kids had a bathroom to share. We didn’t use the kitchen but it was well kitted out if you needed to cook, including a dishwasher. The lounge area was also spacious and the villa had a large covered deck at each end. The location was outstanding everything we wished for and more. The beach outside our villa was perfect for swimming and snorkelling. We couldn’t believe how secluded and quiet it was. At times it felt like we were the only ones staying there. Black rock is only a short walk away. We also found that this side of the island was pretty sheltered from the wind. We spent a lot of time in the water and relaxing on the deck chairs. We loved the daily tropical breakfast. We always dined pretty early when it was fresh and well stocked. We loved the daily happy hour and also enjoyed some of the food from the menu. Some of the staff at the restaurant and bar and were lovely and friendly but there were a few who really didn’t seem to enjoy their job which is a shame because they made the experience a little less enjoyable and I didn’t feel I could ask for assistance. The beauty salon was amazing and every staff member there was so warm and friendly. I felt really spoilt and looked after. I absolutely loved my massage and facial. Such a special treat. We didn’t use the pool as the sea was spectacular and we had no need to swim there. It seemed to be mainly used by young children. We had a wonderful stay at the Edgewater and would definitely stay in a villa again. Thank you.

New ZealandThe facilities were dated with obvious wear and tear in some places. There was strong sewer smell and rhe entrance to our stairwell was beside the rubbish bins which also smelled. The tennis court and games room need to be renewed.
Breakfast was adequate. The staff were excellent. The evening meal was fabulous. The snorkeling gear was in good condition and clean. The grounds were clean and under continuous maintenance.
