Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesJust a little too quiet, how about some music at the pool?
Beautiful place to stay, secluded enough to feel you are living in the jungle, but 15 minute walk to San Ignacio. We stayed in a quiet bungalow, with a full screened in kitchen. If you wanted to cook all your meals, everything you needed was there for you. There also was a delicious, affordable restaurant on site. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool area was beautiful and open 24 hrs.

United StatesThe traffic on the road in front of the property can get a little annoying but there are countless ways to escape it. The cabin I stayed in called Trogon was the one closest to the road, I expect it's quieter in the othe cabins.
Beautiful, well maintained property. I mostly appreciate that they have left most of the natural environment in place. You will hear and see so many different types of birds. My cabin was immaculately clean and everything worked. Having the kitchenette area with pots, pans, utensils, fresh filtered water was a bonus. Being able to explore the farmers market in San Ignacio and bring your goodies back to prepare is a big plus and saves you money. They have a really nice hiking trail on the property and it's totally worth doing at least once. The staff was always there to help, no matter if you're thinking about a tour or local exploration they have the answers and work with trustworthy, reputable tour companies, taxi/shuttle operators, etc. I would definitely recommend staying at Maya Mountain and when I return to the area it would be my first choice. Thank you all for making my vacation a cherished event!

AustraliaThe furniture is very dated. Although the staff are very helpful you should book the tours yourself with a reputable company.
The huge apartment we had with a full kitchen at the back of the property, very quiet with a view of the jungle. Also the hammocks around the pool and in the shade.

CanadaHard to get to town on foot on hot (35°C+) days. Kind of the hotel to offer delivery menus and the food at the restaurant attached to the hotel is quite the convenience that's worth paying for when you are exhausted from a day of exploring.
The whole setting let's you escape. Though it's still close to town, in the heat of end of March weather, you will not walk to town. At that time, the pool is such a luxury - and a great way to meet fellow travelers. The staff and the restaurant owners are exceptionally lovely and ready to help/accommodate in any way.

CanadaWe liked everything.
We’re a group of 6 friends and we stayed in the guest house. It was perfect. We loved the location - only a 20 minute walk to town or a short cab ride. The property is a garden oasis - the grounds are beautiful and such a contrast to the hustle bustle of San Ignacio. The staff is friendly and helpful. We enjoyed cool dips in the pool.

United StatesIt was too far to walk any where. There were dog & cat noises during the night & construction sounds. Strong odor in the bathroom probably from the plumbing/pipes.
Staff was very helpful and friendly. Grounds were beautiful & many birds in the area.

CanadaHonestly, there is nothing that comes to mind. Everything I needed was right there so I felt so comfortable as a solo-traveller.
The quiet community, the sounds of nature, the fully equipped kitchen, the view from my room, the signs for all the flora, the morning hike around the property, the immaculate surroundings, the helpful and extremely helpful staff. Perfection.

United StatesThe little restaurant attached was very adequate but after the first night, we ventured out in to the town. With a vegetarian and a gluten-intolerant person we didn't make it easy on the chef.
The cabin was in a beautiful setting. The full kitchen was a wonderful bonus and had everything we needed. The staff was helpful, friendly and kind enough to alert us when toucans were in the area. Especially thrilling for us as bird watchers!

CanadaThe Hummingbird cottage, while has 3 bedrooms, does face the parking lot and the main road. So you can hear noises from the road late in the night and early in the morning—found that it woke me up a few times. But it is still a very quiet place, overall.
Gorgeous property within the jungle. Walking around the grounds here is such an experience & you will never want to leave, the tall trees, the nighttime outdoor fire, the bird calls, the insect noises surrounding you…WOW! The hummingbird cottage itself is also a large 3 bedroom cottage with a full kitchen and living room, dining area. Very clean and comfortable! I also loved the handwoven and colourful bedspreads. The staff were very kind, accommodating, helpful and willing to chat. The food at Tio’s Mayan Kitchen, particularly the rice and beans, were so tasty and filling. Also, if you love cats, you’ll LOVE this place as there are 5 resident kitties here and our family followed the cats around and made friends with them! My kids said

United KingdomRooms are quite tired & rustic. No full wall to bathroom.
Lovely jungle spot. Friendly staff, nice fire pit & good restaurant. Well equiped kitchen. You can rent scooters from Yellowbelly backpackers - a ride in the mountain pine ridge is great. Rent canoes from Davids Adventure Tours in town (or go to Barton Creek cave with him). The Green Hills Butterfly (and hummingbird) ranch is fascinating.

United StatesIf I had to pick on it, I would say the pool area needs a little work. It’s just a bit dated. The pool itself was beautiful and clean and we swam several times. Once in a midnight downpour which was invigorating!
Nestled in the side of a lushly forested hillside just outside of San Ignacio, this hidden gem is and will always be my choice in this area. The highlight for me was the location and gardens as well as the wonderful husband and wife duo that run the onsite restaurant. The food is wholesome and delicious and they are amazing people. They and the staff at MML made our trip so wonderful. Oh they also organize all your tours and get better pricing that just booking it yourself. Bring Belizean dollars because a lot of the tour operators don’t take cards.

AustraliaThe lodge was too far from the centre to walk in the heat so we needed a taxi (easy to get). Being out of the centre made it more peaceful and closer to nature, so we were happy to take the taxi ride.
Friendly staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome, very clean and spacious apartment with little touches such as fresh flowers, beautiful gardens with wildlife, nice pool to relax in at the end of the day. We ate at the on site restaurant and enjoyed a good local meal.

United StatesAs mentioned in other reviews rooms were a little worn.
Fantastic property especially if you enjoy birds. We saw numerous gorgeous specimens from the porch, including a pair of toucans. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The Lodge boasts a unique walking trail on-site through a jungle environment. Close enough to walk to town, but onsite restaurant (cash only) was very tasty, friendly and accommodating of vegetarians. Rooms were large, comfortable with split AC units. Would definitely return.
