Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandThe guidance to the hotel parking lot was completely disappointing as it did not take into account customers who were visiting Ghent for the first time. I made a reservation a month ago and was very disappointed that I was assigned a room with a view of the emergency stairs.

PortugalThe room was a little noisy, with noise coming from outside through the thin windows, but the hotel provided free earplugs.
Excellent location a stone's throw from the castle and five minutes from the center. Clean, bright room with all necessary amenities. Excellent breakfast in a spacious, bright room.

AustraliaVery nice place right next to Gravensteen castle and walking distance to the old part of the town. Beds were comfortable, we only stayed one night - we were happy with it. We parked at Ramen which is only 5 minute walking distance.

GermanySauna itself was OK, but with nowhere to relax and you had to walk through the gym to get to the shower! The shower had no door or curtain and didn't get properly cold or hot. Breakfast gave a lot of choice, but was far from sustainable, with jams, spreads, cheese, salt, pepper and sugar all packaged. No oat milk was available.
The location was convenient. Very good, big and comfortable bed! Staff were friendly and helpful. Impressive old building with reception, bar and some rooms - we stayed in the "newer" building.

United KingdomLovely hotel a few minutes walk from Gravensteen Castle. We arrived a few hours before check-in and asked the hotel if we could leave our luggage whilst we went off to explore. They instantly gave us a room upgrade and an early check-in instead! Very helpful staff! Would recommend.

United KingdomWe had two rooms of different standard. The 'standard' room was fine and the 'de luxe' room was beautiful, , spacious with a fine view across the city. The whole place was very stylish and traditional and was the perfect location in the centre. The hotel also sorted the charging of our EV.

United KingdomThe male on reception with long hair was a bit rude. Also reluctant to replenish tea/coffee/milk for our room each day.
Location was perfect. Short walk to castle and cathedrals. Also near some excellent restaurants, bars and photogenic scenery. Hotel room located in the building at the back of the courtyard on floor 3 with elevator access. Mostly clean room, good shower facilities and hairdryer. The lady with the short hair who checked us in was super friendly and welcoming. Huge thanks for her welcome to Ghent unfortunately I did not get her name.

United KingdomOnly small things like once you use the teabags in the room they didn’t replenish them. Also it says if you don’t need a fresh towel hang it up but there is no rail or hooks in the bathroom to hang them..

United StatesThe only thing I did not like was the sound-proofing for the outside noise. The room was located at the street side, and there was a non-stop noisy ambiance all through the night till early morning. Either people screaming at each other, sigaret smokers using the bench below the window to have a smoke and a conversation, or the garbage collections(for bars and business) at the corner. As well as the 6.00am deliveries (trucks running, doors and gates slamming) to the business in the alleys. Basically: don't get a room in the front, if you are a light sleeper.
The Room itself was cosy, spacious for 2 people and clean, the Hotel location was very good, right in the middle of all historical and sightseeing places. No breakfast was used in the hotel.

JordanThere were no towels in the room....we had to go searching for towels in our pajamas in the morning. We arrived in an electric car but couldn't charge as petrol cars were occupying the charging bays (although to be fair the hotel makes it very clear that parking is first come-first served basis)
Location is fantastic, right in the centre of Antwerp. Room was clean and had all facilities that we needed. The evening staff were extremely helpful in finding us a place to eat on new years eve.
