Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Sea Symphony Villa is a large, comfortable home with great views close to a small, virtually private beach. The staff was excellent. Dorious, the housekeeper, kept everything clean. Lindrey, the chef, prepared superb meals, including local dishes. Dorothy, the house manager, was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were spacious along with several inviting common areas and a refreshing pool. It is very quiet, in a fairly remote part of the island.

United KingdomWe managed perfectly well without a car, but if you want to go sightseeing or eat further afield, a car might be useful. However, Chris, the tame taxi driver, gets you to and from the airport and is also available for tours or visits to other areas of Barbados. Much more relaxing than driving yourself.
We really appreciate that you can book the whole villa at a very good rate for just 2 people. We planned to eat out and sightseeing but ended up not straying very far at all. Dorothy and her excellent staff look after you very well indeed. Never had a chef in the past, so was a bit nervous of how it would work out, but Lindrey was brilliant. Told him what we liked and what we didn't. Gave him some cash, and he stocked up the fridge, then served up some of the best dinners and breakfasts we have eaten. Puddings seemed to be a speciality, and we just ate whatever he had decided on that night. Never disappointed us. I brought my fishing gear and managed to provide dinner one evening. Speightstown is only a few minutes by bus or taxi and has a supermarket if you want to shop for food and drinks yourselves. Whatever you fancy, Lindrey can probably serve it up, but we gave him some leeway, so he used a lot of local ingredients. We fancied chicken Kiev one night (sad i know), and he said he could probably remember the recipe from doing it in the 70's :-) Mornings were spent snorkeling and on the beach, which is 30 steps away and does have some shade. Afternoons around the pool and evenings on the balcony. Our lovely maid Dorius kept everywhere spotless, supplied fresh towels daily, did some washing, and always had a smile on her face. She showed us a shortcut to the main road where you could catch a bus or walk 10 minutes down to The Fish Pot restaurant and some small beaches. The views from our master bedroom were lovely, and it had its own balcony. Humming birds flit around the pool, and a large family of monkeys often used the garden as a shortcut, which was great to watch. They are a bit shy and keep their distance so cause no problems at all.

United StatesNothing. I wish I could have stayed longer!
The meals were wonderful and elegant. The host was gracious and meted me when I arrived with a lovely tour of the Villa. Dorothy and her staff were excellent hosts and very helpful, kind, and a delight to be around. Thank you for making my stay absolutely wonderful and amazing. The pool was great along with very tailored and neatly kept grounds. The bedrooms are very comfortable with each room having a different theme with their own individual bathrooms. Thank you for the beautiful flowers and being able to have a personalized stay. A book was there to assist with tours and other fun things to do in Barbados. The Villa really felt like home away from home.

United StatesNothing. Everything was amazing.
Everything. The villa was the most luxurious and beautiful place I've stayed. The staff is phenomenal and professional. It's literally an oasis. I love that you are away from the tourist area because you get the real feel of how beautiful Barbados actually is. The Chef is amazing and his food was delicious everyday. The housekeeper cleans and does laundry without you feeling like she is even there. The Villa is massive and the common spaces are so perfect to socialize with friends and family. The views are breathtaking every morning. We were all so sad to be leaving but we will definitely be back again.

CanadaIt’s quite secluded. You’ll require a car to get anywhere. There’s a tiny beach across the street but you can’t really hang out there because of the massive crushing waves.
Really beautiful property. Lots of rooms and very spacious. The pool is great for hot sunny days in Barbados. The villa comes with a chef and daily housekeeping which felt very luxurious! The staff had great communication throughout our stay. We felt very spoiled.

United StatesThe Barbados roads can be challenging. If you rent a car, make sure to buy insurance for the bumps in the road. Also -- the world-class waterfront restaurants in Holetown (e.g., The Tides) can be expensive, but the cuisine and the sunset views are worth it.
We were very grateful for the support from the Sea Symphony Villa team. The house is owned and run by a local doctor and her husband (also a doctor); Dorothy will exchange informational emails with you before your arrival and greet you with the staff (Lindrey (chef) and Beatrice (housekeeper)) on your arrival. Dorothy keeps a careful eye on the house's operation. Lindrey, who is a gifted cook, will recommend excellent dishes for breakfast, lunch or dinner (you set the times for meals, and can of course eat out instead). Lindrey has cooked professionally all over the Caribbean, as well as on cruise lines, and can prepare classic international dishes as well as Caribbean specialties (from Barbados, Jamaica, Grenada, etc.). Beatrice does the laundry daily and keeps the house absolutely spotless, and is a cheerful voice every morning. Finding the villa is relatively easy, as "Sea Symphony Villa" shows up on maps on your phone, and if needed you can ask for directions once you're close. St Lucy Parish, where the villa is located, is the northernmost in Barbados, and so a 40-minute drive from the airport. The west coast beaches are 10-25 minutes down the coast, the northern coast (remarkable cliffs at the Animal Flower Cave) 15 minutes away, the east coast (en route, a beautifully restored mansion and miniature railway to overlook point at St Nicholas Abbey, and then the Andromeda gardens and lunch at the Atlantis Hotel) about 30 minutes away, and Bridgetown and the south coast beaches about 30-40 minutes away. It is very useful to have a car, and a driver who is comfortable driving on the left-hand side (UK rules) on sometimes poorly maintained roads with lots of roundabouts.

United KingdomThe only slight downside is location, think you would benefit from having a car which we hadn’t booked until day three as when we booked this you had to self isolate until on arrival test results came through. This requirement was dropped pretty much day we left home so too late to change car arrangements.
Massive property decorated in typical Caribbean style, really airy and everything worked as it should. Lindry ( hope I have spelt that right) the chef was nice friendly relaxed guy and very accommodating. Beatrice (housekeeping) again lovely and couldn’t do enough for you on arrival we were met and shown round by the owner Dorothy, again a really nice warm friendly person. Property really close to beach too.
