Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThey did not notify me that the driver would be unable to pick me up from the airport, only when I followed-up and called them that they mentioned that the driver would be unable to make it and I would have to take a taxi. Cigarette smoke can be smelt in the room in the morning, even with windows closed.
Great location and walking distance into the old town. Hotel is clean. Breakfast is plentiful. The hotel reception is 24/7. The aircon and Wi-Fi are functional. There is a grocery and bakery close by.

This is a characterful and good value hotel The hotel is quietly located across the River Miljacka from the old city The bus from the airport stops nearby The welcome was friendly and helpful with recommendations The hotel was clean My room was well equipped with everything you'd expect at a budget pricepoint Breakfast was good Attractions such as the Zicara Cable Car, Latin Bridge and the Ratni Muzej (1992 War Museum) are nearby. FinlandBosnians are very hospitable people and this bed and breakfast/hotel is no exception. Everyone from Kerim the receptionist to the breakfast lady are very helpful. Rooms are spacious, Bosnian coffee at breakfast is tasty, and location is great since it’s only a short walk from the old town. I also appreciated that they were able to arrange taxis for me. Thanks!

MontenegroI didn't like that I had to pay additional 10€/day for parking, but to be perfectly fair it is written on their page and it is my fault not checking the booking page with more attention. :) Writing it just for a heads up if someone misses it :) I also wanted to point out that even though I didn't reserve parking, staff from the hotel allowed usage of the parking.
Breakfast was nice. The ladies tending the bufet and taking additional requests for breakfast were very polite and happy to accomodate every request.

Bosnia and HerzegovinaAll in all, everything was great, but if I were to nitpick... the rooms are not large and the stairwell is a bit on the narrow side (but those are just small details... nothing major).
A lovely hotel located in a part of Sarajevo called Bistrik near the Baščaršija (you just need to cross the Latin Bridge to get there). The rooms (and the hotel) feature a traditional style and provide a cozy place to rest while visiting Sarajevo. The staff is friendly and helpful, and breakfast served there is more than enough to fill you up for the start of the day. Hotel Kandilj also features a paid parking located just a few steps away from the hotel.

TurkeyEverything was super good.
I liked overall vibe, breakfast is okey, but most important part is people: Rafa and Ise (young jesus :D). Rafa prepares breakfast for you, and you can talk by using translator with her. Everyone in reception was super kind and helped for everything. Also if you can catch Ise, you should talk with him about life & bosnia & culture & history, so I mean you can talk with him about literally everything :D

United KingdomEverything was good- no complaints.
We had a lovely three night stay at the Hotel Kandilj. The staff - Hannah, Isa and team - were all very helpful and friendly, the rooms were pleasant, bright and clean. A very enjoyable breakfast each day. The hotel is very homely and set in a great spot, close to the old town and river. Thank you, hope to see you again. Danny and Lesley.
