Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere was a funky smell in the room which I put down to the tropics and the inevitable damp. Limited room service menu but appreciated that there was one! Corridors were not air conditioned and were open to the elements at both ends but I understand the particular issues of building in the tropics. Hand-held shower would not stay up on it's own but was perfectly functional.
Stunned by the view of Darwin and the horizon upon entry to this corner one bedroom apartment! The bed was amazingly comfortable. I wanted/needed an in-room laundry which worked well and was unobtrusive. The kitchen was well-equipped with a full-sized refrigerator. I had most evening meals in-room so appreciated the small dining table. TV was large and well positioned. Secondary TV in bedroom was appreciated. Location was good - walkable to grocery stores. Close enough to most sights to enable cheap Uber rates. Restaurant with included breakfast was a bonus. Hotel rates were very competitive and I got excellent value for money.

New ZealandThe pool was cold and could of been a bit more inviting.
Room was clean, spacious, great shower, great location. We left early for day trips and had a fabulous breakfast packed on the go from the cafe instead of the buffet breakfast.

AustraliaLifts were a bit slow and dated. Breakfast was pretty basic.
View was fantastic from 25th floor. Every amenity I needed was thought of, and very handy having a washing machine and dryer. Very comfy bed. Great stay for business (I stayed close to a week) friendly staff, I would stay again.

AustraliaAlthough it says one bedroom, it is more a studio with a partitioned bedroom., no door or window in "bedroom area". A little misleading perhaps as we expected 2 rooms- a sitting area and a bedroom. Worked ok for 3 nights, just not what I call a one bed apt.
Location and facilities were great.

AustraliaFor the price n heat of Darwin we should have been given 2 bottles of water each day. Staff did not know re our breakfast booking tried to confirm in check in however when we went for breakfast it had been paid for. Missed 2 breakfasts. Asked about public transport had no idea.
Breakfast was great. Meals were very reasonably priced. Room was great roomy, comfortable king bed. Easy to walk to waterfront.

AustraliaThe pool was not circulating and the water was very cold.
We had had an excellent room on 25th level, with sweeping views of Darwin Harbour. Complimentary continental breakfast was excellent, which set us up for the day. Restaurant staff were very friendly and efficient in their jobs. Front desk staff were extremely polite and very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay at Oaks Elan and are happy to recomend this hotel to anyone visiting Darwin. Regards Robyn and Ian Sydney-Smith

AustraliaBooking.com said Oakes Elan provided car parking. Yes, they do, at $15 per day. FYI street parking is free on weekends and on public holidays in Darwin. There are ample car spots outside the hotel foyer and on nearby streets. Otherwise, it's payable by parking meters situated everywhere.
I loved our high level corner 1 bedroom apartment with expansive harbour views and lots of natural light. The apartment was spacious with a large size balcony containing a table and three chairs. The inside lounge area had a coffee table and a lounge suite, with a big wall mounted TV plus a good size desk to work on and charge devices, and a round dining table with three chairs. The kitchenette had a full size fridge, microwave, mini standalone oven, dishwasher, Nespresso machine, and was fully self contained with saucepans, frying pans, bowls, crockery, glassware and cutlery. The bed and pillows were very comfortable with the bedroom at the back of the apartment. The bathroom was on the small side, however very practical with a full size washing machine and clothes dryer. The location was fabulous. Not far to Zen Rooftop Bar, cafes, bars, restaurants, Coles, bottle shops, post office, banks, the Stokes Hill Wharf, convention centre precinct and Darwin's WWII Oil Storage Tunnels were a 10-15 minute walk away. A continental breakfast (which included hard boiled eggs, baked beans and potato gems) was also included in our accommodation price. It was $10 per person to upgrade to a hot breakfast.
