Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThere was no specific parking near the hostel. It was difficult to find street parking nearby.
The location was great for walking around Shkoder! We traveled to Theth National Park with our own rental car from the hostel and it worked perfectly. The dogs were cute.

United KingdomAfter a long travel day, walking through the hostel gates felt like entering another world - and we quickly began calling it our safe haven. The colourful walls, hammocks, tortoises and kind staff made us feel immediately at home. With both the hostel's organisation of our transportation to Theth and the delicious traditional breakfast, we felt well looked after. A day here was as joyful as a day in the city and we couldn't recommend more.

North MacedoniaThe main problem I had was that the bunk bed was quite shaky and squeaky. I was sleeping on the bottom bunk, while the guest on the top bunk was tossing and turning during the night. Also, there was no shelf where I could put my phone while it was charging, so I had to either put it on the floor or on my bed next to the mattress. The WiFi signal was weak in my room, but I was OK because I had data. A deposit is required to borrow a lock (for the locker), but the reception isn't open during the night, so if you leave very early in the morning, you can't get the deposit back unless you return the lock the night before. (I suppose another alternative is to keep the lock in this case.)
This hostel is in an excellent location near restaurants, a money exchange shop, and a museum. It's a great value no matter which room option you choose. The vibe at the hostel is laid-back and friendly, and the staff are professional and helpful. I appreciate that we have to take off our shoes at the entrance and wear slippers inside. The hostel offers bike rental and has useful information about intercity transportation and activities. There is a sufficient number of toilets, showers, and sinks.

AlbaniaSince the beginning we have immediately felt super welcoming. The guy in the reception, Sam, is an incredible soul, really patient. In fact he showed us around all the hostel, because we didn't really know where we wanted to sleep. The room where we decided to stay was the Suite 1 and we were so impressed of how beautiful it was! Clean, with a private bathroom and an incredible bohemien atmosphere. We stayed there for the new year and Christmas, without really a plan and far away from home. But was a surprise to see that the hostel organized and incredible dinner all together, where every kind of guest could take something to offer and to share! Really like a big family! In the morning we decided to try the amazing Albanian breakfast for a affordable cost of 5 €/person and was really worth it! We tried homemade Petula, which are like tradition Albanian pancake and a lot of other local stuff. Super, what can we say! Thank you for everything!

GermanyIt’s a wonderful Hostel with a beautiful atmosphere. The employees are very friendly und bring a good energy in this place. At the check in you become very good Information about the city and Albania, so you have many options for activities and a free Raki (: The three dogs and one cat are so cute and relax. If you want, you can socialising with other people, play with the instruments or take time for yourself in a quiet area. The Hostel is very clean and inviting. The breakfast is very cheap, but so delicious. You can rent Mountainbikes to explore the wonderful area. You need 10 min with the Bike and you are in the nature, with mountains and a beautiful view. Maybe, this Hostel is the best in Albania - you have to visit it when you in this country. Thank you for the great stay in this amazing Hostel.

AustraliaVery clean and comfortable room with private bathroom. The hostel is also very conveniently located and staff are very knowledgeable about places to eat in Shkoder and provided many recommendations on things to see and do. They are super friendly and easy going as were many of the people who also stayed. The building (interior and exterior) and surrounding garden is also really beautiful + the common areas inside and out are very comfortable. There is access to a bar with raki, beer and wine and also bicycle hire available. Staff were also extremely helpful in organising our trip to Valbona/Theth from Shkoder - they organised ferry and bus tickets for us. Best hostel we have stayed in.
