Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LebanonNothing special but the parking is a bit tight better to have more parking places
What I did like is the big Pool with nice and quick access to the clean sand beach, also the option to have two places to have your food, Arabic or international cuisine. Next to that, all the interesting places are around the area

Great location. Excellent staff. Anastasia Fadeeva, the Guest Relations Executive at the Occidental Grand Hotel Sharjah: An Exceptional Experience with Anastasia Fadeeva I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Occidental Grand Hotel Sharjah, and I must say that my experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Throughout my stay, I encountered Anastasia Fadeeva, the Guest Relations Director, who left an indelible mark on my memory. Anastasia’s genuine gratitude and warmth were evident from the moment I stepped into the hotel. Her welcoming smile and sincere appreciation for choosing the Occidental Grand made me feel valued as a guest. Anastasia’s poise and passion were unmatched. She handled every situation with grace and tact, ensuring that I felt comfortable and well-cared-for. Her attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile were truly commendable. During my stay, I faced a minor health issue, and Anastasia’s compassion touched my heart. She not only ensured that I received prompt medical attention but also followed up to check on my well-being. Her kindness made a significant difference during a challenging time. Anastasia’s dedication to her role is evident in every interaction. She embodies the spirit of hospitality, making guests feel like cherished friends rather than mere visitors. Her commitment to excellence sets a high standard for the entire hotel staff. In summary, my stay at the Occidental Grand Hotel Sharjah was made memorable by Anastasia Fadeeva’s exceptional service. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a delightful and enriching experience. Thank you, Anastasia, for making my stay truly special. Your professionalism, warmth, and genuine care are a credit to the hospitality industry.

SerbiaI booked a room close to the airport on our way to Thailand and asked for a late checkout since our flight was leaving at night. Was told I had to pay for an extra night which I did but considering the hotel was half empty I def think they could have charged a bit extra for a few hours more or nothing at all.
Everything was OK.

United StatesThe room had broken soap dispenser and was not maintained well. I had to call for maintenance multiple times because the ceiling was leaking water. Overall the hotel hadn't been maintained. And the beach area was very small and was not maintained as well as could be.
The hotel was off of the beach. The staff was nice. They came through everyday to clean the room. The breakfast was very good. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and nice view. The pool was nice they also had an area where you could spray your feet off after leaving the beach. Everyone seemed to be kind that worked there.

PolandLocation is quite remote from Dubai; taxis are necessary. Soundproofing is very poor. We encountered issues with staff accessing our room when we were not present. They often knocked on the door in the evening, asking if they could clean the room or provide any services, which was a bit strange. The view from the beach is somewhat industrial, and the air can be smoggy, as a result the Burj Khalifa is hidden most of the time. The food could be better considering the price, and drinks could be provided for free. The hotel is often crowded, requiring early rising to secure a good spot on the beach.
Good beach with clean water and sand. The room was renovated and better than presented in photos, quite spacious. The pool is convenient, deep, and warmer than the sea in March. The entire area is consistently cleaned by the staff. If you want to use public transport, a ferry is available not far from the hotel, providing connections to the metro.

NetherlandsFood quality can be better. For orthodox Christmas they closed the pool after 12pm. They used the area for Christmas dinner. It was better if they invited all customers to this event instead of only full or half board customers as compensation of stealing pool time :) Half of the tables were empty at the end and it’s not sync with the Christmas value. Last thing, there can be more animation for young and old.
Atmosphere, location, sea side with own beach, nice pool, easy to reach from airport’s

GermanyQuite old building - you can really feel it. Nothing really nearby (take into account when deciding if you want to eat in the hotel or outside). There are no restaurants in the proximity of the hotel. Also it’s quite hard and expensive to get to Dubai. A lot of traffic jams. For instance, it took us 2 hours to get back from the Aquapark (Atlantis Aquaventure) On Thursday at 19:00. On average you would spent from 50-150 AED to get to Dubai… Not a pleasant smell on the 5th floor and in the room, more like a mold smell. Food on breakfast/lunch/dinner is tasty but lacking the diversity from day to day it’s the same food but with different sauces. Deserts are pretty nice and versatile though.
Staff was really helpful and nice, food and the proximity to the beach. Beach was super nice as well with still and clean water. It’s really clean in the rooms. Taxi is available on the reception.

IndiaThey are highly understaffed. Housekeeping does not answer the call at all. Just 0.5 litre x 2 water bottles provided in room for 2 adults and 1 child. It's just 1 aed or less per bottle. Management should not be stingy on basic things like water & must provide atleast 2 litres of water per day in room. We had to call to in house restaurant after multiple failed attempts to reach housekeeping/room service and request them bring extra water and then they send just 2 small bottles again even after requesting to send 4 bottles. Drainage was clogged in bathroom, but it's understandable as building is quite old. But the entire hotel was fully booked during our stay so they must increase staff count atleast on holidays to improve on SERVICE. There was no Porter guy, the receptionist guy was kind enough to bring our trolley bag to room. There was no valet available when we reached hotel.
