Capital of the Republic of China (commonly known as Taiwan), huge Taipei is surrounded by mountains. Taipei 101, once the world’s tallest building, dominates its skyline from Xinyi, an area known for the most active nightlife.
At Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall the national flag is raised every morning and the guard changed every hour. Less known for tourists is National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, containing a tall bronze statue of the country’s founding father.
Taipei has tons of museums, but the best are Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines and the National Palace Museum – one of world’s largest collections of Chinese artifacts. Even more numerous are the temples dedicated to Buddhist, Taoist and Chinese folk religions. Xinsheng South Road is nicknamed "Road to Heaven" for its sheer number, but most famous is Longshan Temple in Wanhua, the oldest district.
Taipei shopping is fantastic and includes Core Pacific Living Mall, supposedly Asia’s largest. The Ximending area has lots of shops (and karaoke), while the Shilin Night Market should not be missed. For a break from the bustle head to central Daan Forest Park, the botanical gardens with its lotus ponds,or Yangmingshan National Park, known for hot spring baths and spring cherry blossom.
Whether you fly into Songshan or Taiwan Taoyuan Airport, the well connected public transportation system can take you to any Taipei hotel on Booking.com.

City roads and stations are cleaned.
Only food, perhaps it's not suitable for someone like the healthy style because a majority of them are oily.

Several times during my short stay people went well out of their way to help me. One on occasion, an older lady who was getting her hair done in the salon where I got a hair cut left her chair walked me down the steps of the shop and out into the street and about 20 yards to an intersection to ensure I did not get lost and found my destination. Taipei Taiwanese during the days I spent there seemed to be a fine people, their city clean and safer than many US large cities. I don't think they will like mainland China coming in and taking over. I visited a couple of great temples and had great suppers.

Taipei is one of my favourite cities in Asia - relatively low cost, good food and excellent nightlife.
It's a great place for a few days getaway - if you're based in Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong or Singapore, Taipei is a perfect getaway destination.

The transportation and hotel bookings are excellent, and the food is reasonably cheap. Taiwan is generally clean but some areas have a sewer smell problem due to an old system. People are friendly and helpful. Nobody rejects you if you ask for the road direction. Taipei is modern, but smaller villages are old. The scooters pile up full on the pedestrian walk, and we have no way to walk around. By all means, it is a beautiful place to visit.

Where to start . .
Where to start . . Petrol scooters everywhere and the fumes are choking the city. It is impossible to use sidewalks for the scooters parked everywhere. The country has a huge mosquito plague and only one hotel we stayed at had a fly screen on the window - even with insect repellent expect to be covered in bites during your stay. Taiwan in general does not demonstrate environmental awareness, plastic and single use packaging is everywhere and ironically, you will struggle to find any garbage bins on the street, at bus stops, train stations or on malls. Eating choices usually involve businesses with poor food handling procedures - did not see one single salad in the 5 cities I visited. The quality of fruit is outstanding which may be associated with the number of temples across the country. I could not find maps or attraction brochures in English at any of the 5 hotels I stayed in or at 2 government information centres I visited. There is no discount shopping, only premium prices. Overall I found the locals to be quite racist and wilfully unfriendly. Taiwan is not ready to welcome international tourists, check back in 10 years to see if anything has improved.
The only thing Iike in this hotel is the location, it is near Taipei 101 and Embassy of Netherlands which we had an appointment the next day.
Even the staff were helpful in providing an electric fan as an alternative solution due to malfunctioning aircondition, still I did not had a good sleep. They told us that we can transfer to another room but its too late at night and it’s hassle and troublesome.
The room is clean, the toilet, and water pressure from shower is fine.
If you have a car, a parking space is also available.
The location was great, right next to their famous event stadium in Taipei. On the right side of the main entrance is connected to a mall that has everything from clothing to snacks and food. it was pretty close to everything that we needed to get to. There are parks and other food courts around the area within 15 minutes of walking distance. bus stop is 3 to 4 mins of walking. The concierge was super helpful. There's also a 7/11 behind the hotel, it's tuck away, so ask the front desk.
Good location. Very close to MRT station of two lines, convenient to move to city sightseeing places. Also, it is located in city main area, so that casual or deluxe restaurants, convenient stores, and various shops are here and there.
We asked a room with Taipei 101 tower view, and it was. We could see the tower in the morning, the illuminated tower in the evening. Also, the scenery changed by weather. It was fun to see the tower.
Hotel staff was well organized and friendly.
The location is great! It's close to public transportations as well as surrounded by shops and restaurants. The decor in the entire hotel is unique and nice. Staff is very professional and friendly. There is free laundry on the first floor. The entire second floor is like a huge living room with chairs and free tea/coffee/snacks/ramen noodles. The room is very very quiet. I've stayed at this hotel many times this year and it's becoming my 2nd home!
Location is very good , room good size for taipei , public and personal pick transport very good, some people will complain about this hotel being old , yes but it’s fine especially if you have tried others hotels which are small , dirty, not facilities, cosmos has in house restaurant and gym bonus parking too but need to organise with hotel as space is limited
Overall if you not tried other hotels and not sure you won’t go wrong with cosmos .
Great location. Just opposite the Taipei Main station and connected by the underground. You can use the underground all the way to HSR, airport mrt train and mrt. Look for exit M6 and you will connect to Ceasar park B1, follow the row of japanese eateries and take the lift to Lobby 1 of the hotel. Rooms are spacious and clean. Staff speaks English and are helpful. Plenty of eateries and cafes in the underground.
It’s the perfect first Hotel to enjoy and explore the City of Taipei! The location is great. Many historical sights are only 15 min by foot! The Hotel offers great snack and dring choices for free! It was amazing to try out so many snacks for the first time. Now I have a good idea of what to take home with me. The rooms are on the smaller side, but still cozy and well designed.
The hotel is really close to Taipei Central Station, Taipei City Mall exit 15 and Ningxia Night Market. The rooms (I experienced two of them) were clean and with all amenities you would usually need for a stay in a low-budget city hotel. A safe, blowdryer and bathroom accessories for instance.
The staff was very friendly and they kindly accepted to store my luggage for me.
We stayed at the hotel one night before dropping our rental car at Taipei Airport. The room was small but well-designed. Reception at the front desk was excellent, and they physically showed us where the car parking was. The beakfeast was also very good, and we appreciated the in-room bath. We found a lot of opportunities for eating in a major street nearby.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, helped us move to a different room for free when there was a smell of smoke in the room
The hotel is also proximal to Zhongshan, Taipei MRT, Songshan-Nanjing and quite well connected everywhere by bus
There is good food near Zhongshan MRT and many surrounding cafes
There is a small but nice park nearby
everything is so great and perfect , the location is superb ! very near to MRT station and the huashan park opposite is sooooo fun ! we even got to book the delivery of famous soybean breakfast by hotel ( with charges ) we enjoyed the stay a lot ! thank you Wallsun , will definitely come back again!
The hotel is a bid tricky to find, as it is inside a corporate building shared with other companies, but super central and next to Taipei Main Station. The room was very spacious and clean. The cleaner that helped me during my stay was absolutely lovely.
People working at the hotel are amazing! So friendly and helpful I felt like at hone. The location close to a small park with a pond with fish and birds. Close to everything you need. The restaurant is fantastic, great breakfast and dinner.
We chose this hotel because it's close to a park and conveniently located with the subway and night markets. Quiet location but the busy part of town is close. A big room with a huge bathroom with a jacuzzi tub.
As always, my favourite hotel when I come to Taipei.
Fantastic location, staff, facilities etc.
Love that there's an ice machine on every floor, and a diy laundry area. No need to go home with dirty clothes!
Staying in Grand Hotel for at least a few days should be in your itinerary. This is a landmark in Taipei, very beautiful. Their lunch or dinner buffet is very good too. Don’t miss it.
Location is very good. The entrance of the hotel is grand and luxurious. Facilities are top notch with access to swimming pool, multiple restaurants and a small shopping area.
My ultimate favourite hotel to stay every visit to Taipei. Already familiar with the surroundings and the staff are always friendly. Make me feel so homely.
