The location is exceptional, everything is in the walking distance from the hotel. The only thing which may more far is a beach where you can swim, but it is no problem with all transport facilities. The personnel is welcoming and always ready to help.

Great communication with the team before arrival. Jane offered to set me up with tours etc. upon arrival, even trying to connect travellers to share excursions. The room was comfortable and had a good size. Air-con worked without a hitch, but insulation/ventilation was quite good, so I actually didn't need it much. The pool is a bonus, but the beach opposite is actually is nice for a city beach. It's a little far from shops/supermarkets, but close to the nicer restaurants in town. Unlike other places in São Tomé, I felt the staff genuinely enjoys working at Emoyeni Gardens and was always friendly and courteous.

The most remarkable thing about The hotel was the receptionists (Vania, Jerseley and Isaias). They were very professional, friendly and supportive. I wish I could remember the names of all the staff who worked at the restaurant throughout the week. They handle well a few rude customers. They always remained calm and respected them. I think you should place a notice board at your hotel stating that you won’t tolerate racism or any discrimination against your staff.

An unknown jewel!
An unknown jewel! We visited idyllic places, saw the most amazing sunsets over tropical beaches & saw very few tourists.
Most of the locals were very friendly and helpful. It is a photographic paradise.

They have a lot of historical sites and great beaches and islands with friendly people and lots of local cuisines. The city is in bad shape and bad roads and they need to develop the tourism sector particularly their tourist sites . The airport is bad for a tourism country like that and the hotels needs to up their services to meet a value for money and they need to learn English language which is an international language especially the staff of the various hotels and all tour guides. It’s a great place to visit at most for 5days.

Sao Tome is a fantastic destination.
Sao Tome is a fantastic destination. A safe tropical Island almost untuched from the outside world. It is not for unseasoned travellers or the ones who want a lot of service and/or Diesney like conditions. It can be a bit costly and you have to bring cash in form of smaller Euro banknote denominations.
Crime, political instability and diseases are much less than in surrounding countries, wich makes travelling here hazzelfree.
The climate in the dry season (june-august) feels comfortable, especialy considering that it is tropical Africa. The islands abound with green lush tropical forrest with a lot of exotic fruits, fantastic beaches and some interesting sights.
The food is good especially the fresh fish and shellfish, as well as the multitude of excotic fruits and vegetables.
In Sao tomé Town I especially recomend the following restaurants/cafees : Papa figo, Camoes and Pastelaria Central,
You get much more from your visit if you can speak portuguese.
No Visa for 14 Days travel for EU citizens, no need for yellow fever vaccination certficate if travelling from Europe. There is four flights a week with TAP (portuguese) and one flight a week with STP (Sao tome air company)

Language barrier is too problematic.
Language barrier is too problematic. English is something that even restaurants have difficulty to understand.
Beaches are good. Can spend some lonely time at night without much trouble.
Brush up on Portuguese language very well or one may end up not having a good meal!
Loved to see the Boca De Inferno. The water gushing the rocks is awesome. Smooth roads give you the enjoyable drive towards the south of the island. The Great Dog Peak was worth a view!
Loved to eat seafood at the Ilyang Ilyang Restaurant with a peaceful ambience and English understanding staff.

The climate, the forest and the scenic tropical views were unmatched.
There are two main phenomenons regarding STome people: leve-leve and doce-doce.
The first is very welcome when on holiday but can become a problem when you want to get things going.
The second is more of a bittersweet feeling. It can be sweet when seeing it for the first time especially with children, but this turns to harrassment pretty quickly.
The owner, Nilda, is a genuinely nice and friendly lady who is very helpful. She coordinated with a money changer for our Euros to Dobras at a better exchange rate than anyone else. Our room was simple but clean and comfortable. The shared bathroom was also very clean. Free street parking and strong Wifi are two pluses. We used this casa as our base to explore São Tomé and it was perfect. Lots of great restaurants in town and easy to explore the north, central and southern sections of the island from here.
Miramar is a hotel with an intersting history, where dignitaries and international consultants stayed. The hotel rooms have since been renovated and are well kept, clean, comfortable with new AC, modern bathrooms and TV. The staff are professional, kind and helpful. The hotel building is beautiful, the garden is large och has a very large pool and plants and flowers. The hotel is beautifully situated by the water in a calm area of the city. The breakfast is tasty with fresh fruit and homemade pastries.
The location is great on the side of the town, you can walk to restaurants and markets easily. There is a rental car company on the side of the hotel that is very convenient. The front desk staff are very kind and helpful. The room was a good size. The central garden and pool are a good size and surrounded by mature trees and lots of birds. It's a nice space that the rooms overlook. We could walk directly out to the pool from the room.
The staff were accommodating and helpful. They arranged a rental car and driver for us, making our visit stress-free and enjoyable.
The hotel is only five minutes drive from the airport and within easy walking distance from the town, several good restaurants, and the beach.
We also found the local people helpful and friendly throughout our trip. Sao Tome is truly a paradise. We could have easily spent more time there.
Super clean, friendly and helpful staff, central but quiet location, hot water in the shower, very good breakfast, water/softdrinks available for purchase across the street, reasonable price for airport transfer, and last but not least they have a generator for power cuts (much needed in this place). A good place to stay in São Tomé city when travelling alone. Returned for a few more nights at the end of my trip.
The owner Celia is super nice and helpful, and cooks delicious food. Very good breakfast with fresh juices, fruits, coffee, bread, omelet, etc. The self-made Marmalade is so yummy, I personally love the passion fruit one ( I normally do not eat any Marmalade).
If you would like to experience the real Sao tome local life with a beautifully decorated room facing the sea, here is exactly your place to stay.
Emoyeni Gardens is best possible choice in town. Hotel is located by the beach and walking distance to city center. They have beautiful and well maintained garden and pool side, rooms are comfortable and really clean. Breakfast is great and stuff is kind and helpful. Alexa, the manager, will be more than glad to help you with car rental, island tours… she is simply the best!
This hotel is at a great location which is right across from the beach and walking distance from town. The owner and staff were very welcoming to us. On our last day it had rained heavily the previous night which caused floods so we were unable to go tour the southern part of São Tomé. The owner let us stay in our room for free until late evening to catch our flight!
The staff were sweet and the management is trying hard to bring positive influence such that the hotel staff could be come competent at service. Wifi works most time, though it was out for a few hours during my stay. I was upgraded which was appreciated, but was also only because thee were no other rooms with functioning AC, fans, in the category I booked.
Everything is new and designed with great taste. Clean, modern and 100% functional. Excellent customer service. Always a yes and a smile. Found friends you can rely upon at Kenito Hotel! And special thanks to Kenito himself, for being such a great host and taking a special interest in all of his guests. We really felt at home!!! We’ll be back soon.
The breakfast was simple, but one of the better ones we had in Sao Tome. It is close to downtown so it's easy to get markets, fresh bread, and groceries nearby. This is a budget hotel and it is Africa so the wife and power go out sometimes, but the AC worked well; that was a huge plus.
The hotel is on a quiet side street so not much noise. Most places in Sao Tome were in walkable distance but you can easily get a taxi or moto from the hotel. I liked the design of the room and it had good AC. The staff were very helpful even when there was a language barrier.
The hotel seems to be the best choice for the centre of Sao Tome.
Clean, with working air conditioning (especially when it the electricity is supplied).
Breakfast was rather OK.
The owner was very helpful when it came to cashing out the money.
Waldimiro is the man, he picked me up from the airport, helped me trade money, and basically took care of everything for my trip. Great budget location in São Tomé and the staff really goes above and beyond to help you.
Beautiful hotel with many and varied communal spaces. Our room was large with all the amenities. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant and bar were well done. It is close to the airport.
A really excellent hotel, well run, well appointed and very friendly. Breakfast was good but the lunch & dinner menus were excellennt, I can strongly recommend the crab soup!
the manager gentleman, and other hotel staff (two ladies - and the lovely girl) were all very kind, ready to do their best to help us. we appreciated their kindness a lot.
Amazing property, helpful hosts, nice pool. We were met at the airport, so fully recommend this hotel to other guests. Pleasant breakfast for additional price.
