Great town and central to day trips all over the Netherlands...
Great town and central to day trips all over the Netherlands. Much more pleasant than staying in Amsterdam and only a short 20 minute train ride directly to Schiphol Airport. Could not be more convenient and relaxing.

Leiden is a great place to stay.
Leiden is a great place to stay. It’s like staying in a mini Amsterdam without as many people. Lovely canals to walk around and lots of small individual places to eat. Very peaceful to stroll around with a lovely market held on Saturday and Wednesdays. We took one of the walking tours around the town which you can buy at the local tourist information office. Also enjoyed going up the Windmill, but be prepared for a steep climb down. Well worth a visit!

Lovely city to walk in.
Lovely city to walk in.
All the people we met and staff in bars and hotel were helpful and friendly.
Sadly only had time for one visit - to Hortus Botanicus- which was well worth the time.
Would plan to visit again.

Leiden and its surrounding offers you a lot if you like...
Leiden and its surrounding offers you a lot if you like walking in beautiful old cities alongside canals. A windmill that is seemingly so simple can explain Dutch social history but there are many other interesting museums as well, and a very special botanical garden. Public transport is well organised (except on special days) and you can reach gems outside the city like Spinoza house or lakeside restaurant. The sea is not far away either.

Leiden is a wonderful historical town full of amazing...
Leiden is a wonderful historical town full of amazing buildings and canals with little streets, mews and squares to explore.
It has it all! Romantic, easy to get around, fascinating streets, lots of cafes, shops and restaurants, great museums, a windmill and a market day.
Wear comfortable shoes and just wander around.
The people are very friendly and it is a young town, as there is a university right in the centre.
Rembrandt was born here and you can see his old School and the studio of his artist mentor.
I soend three days and could have stayed longer.
The public transport system is amazing and it took 16 minutes from the main airport Schiphol into the centre of town by train.
You can use this to visit other towns and the beach nearby.
This hotel is very clean and inviting. The hotel is close to the train station (six minute walk) but also very close to all the sites in town. This close access to the train station was great being able to travel quickly around the country. The hotel is an old army barracks and sits in a small park. We had a lovely windmill out our window. Loved watching families and children play and enjoy the spring. The staff here are super friendly and helpful. They make you feel at home and are knowledgeable and proud of their great town.
The staff are outstanding! The room was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable. I truly enjoyed the breakfasts at TED's All Day Brunch which is where breakfast is served if you purchased the room including breakfast. Worth the extra costs for sure. The hotel is about 800 meters from Leiden Centraal an easily walkable distance but a taxi is also reasonable at 12.50 Euro. There is a shuttle bus from the hotel to central parking area where you can walk to everywhere and it is FREE.
I really enjoyed staying at De Doelen. It is an old hotel and does not have elevators. I was met by Frans who kindly carried my suitcase up the stairs to the fourth floor. Every time I left or arrived, Frans was always there with great friendliness. It is a simple and cozy hotel, I felt very good. The location is exceptional, right in the historic center of Leiden, just a few blocks from where Rembrandt was born. It is possible to walk to Leiden Central station, about 10 minutes.
Absolutely beautiful and very generous room (I booked the Royal Suite). Everything about it was lovely, from the view over the canal from the windows, to the decor and the very, very comfortable bed. Good coffee maker in the room, plenty of storage, great lighting and well placed in the historic centre of Leiden. You can get breakfast, you just need to tell the staff ahead of time, but we walked down the road to a great little cafe instead. Highly recommended hotel.
The hotel has a great location, right in the centre of Leiden and across the road from the train station, supermarket next door open 07.00 daily. Hotel was clean and comfortable and good value for money overall. shower was good and air con worked perfectly. Also had coffee and tea in the room, which is a real essential for me to have coffee before facing the world in the morning.
The hotel has a lot of character. Staff were pleasant. Our room had a beautiful water view. The hotel is conveniently located in the center of Leiden, with many restaurants and shops nearby. It's about a fifteen minute walk from the train/bus station. The bed was large and comfortable.
The hotel is a traditional Dutch house, ideally located in the old city centre of Leiden, almost on Pieterskerk square. The train station is 15 minutes walking distance. Rooms are nicely decorated and spacious. There is a self check-in procedure which makes your arrival very easy.
Nice hotel at the very center (across city hall) of Leiden. We had the Hemingway suite which was huge and wonderfully decorated. Everything was clean, orderly and very confortable. Airco was very silent but worked great, nice big shower and decent pillows and blankets.
We had a really lovely stay at the Tulip Inn for our anniversary. The room was extremely clean and beautiful, and the staff were really lovely. The location is amazing - just a 2-minute walk from the train station, and a 5-minute walk from the centre of Leiden.
Nice hotel in a traditional building, a lot of daylight came through the room so it made it very pleasant. There is a fridge and a small table in the room so we could use them during our stay. The hotel was not too far from Leiden train station too by walking.
The location is close to Leiden Central train station, many restaurants and bars, and a bus stop making it super easy to explore Leiden. The staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions and needs. The bed was soft and comfortable. It also has an elevator!
Fantastic location, beautiful building. Stylish room. Leiden is very beautiful and this hotel is very close to the botannical gardens and a short walk to the main shopping areas. There is a fantastic farmers market on Saturday and loads of lovely cafes.
Location is great, just outside of the city center. City center at walking distance (5-10 minutes) but in the direct neighbourhoud also places to eat or drink. Hotel is just accross Leiden central station. Room was small but clean.
The staff was friendly and the check-in and check-out procedure was straightforward.
The room was clean and had air conditioning. I needed an uncomplicated stay for one night and that is why I chose Ibis.
Location is very effective: the hotel is located in the main square and just a few steps from the railway station of Leiden Centraal. Furthermore the hospitality has been very friendly.
Nice hotel right in central Leiden, with a channel road in front. Very nice view from the rooms to the road and channel, quite enjoyable place. Good breakfast and nice people.
The hotel is nice and clean. We did not use them, but they offer a wide list of wellness services. The location was great: right next to the city's central station.
