Great place to stay for two nights, especially if you’re doing the sunrise tour to Tikal. The eating area outside with the Toucan Express Service was nice, the room was large with good A/C, and staff were helpful.

The owner/manager Umberto was so kind and helpful. We were able to organise all our shuttles and tours with him. Great central but quiet location on the lake, next to local swimming spot. Kitchen and filtered water supplied. Nice and close to Tikal so you don’t have to wake up as early as those coming from Flores. Good aircon, had excellent sleeps despite the heatwave.

I had the cheapest room and still the matterece was great quality and so comfortable.
The bathroom is like from a fairy tale, so speciouse and magical.
No plastic around and free drinking water added lots of value too.

Clean, comfortable, very peaceful, staff were lovely, very safe, food and service were brilliant. The gentleman cooked us beautiful fresh soups and salads when we arrived. We also stayed at Alice's guesthouse for a few nights, which was fully booked but this place was empty, we don't know why!! Both are beautiful places but this is cheaper and the rooms are bigger and cooler, book here!! They deserve the business, Alices is v good too tho
This charming hotel is located in northern Guatemala’s Petén Jungle, on the shores of Lake Petén. It offers fantastic trips to the Mayan Ruins of the Tikal National Park.

It is very cheap, so some other things are not so important. The location is good, on the way to Tikal, not a lot of things to do, the lake is only good spot here. People are great and service is good.
Much more relaxing here than Flores or Santa Elena.
Much more relaxing here than Flores or Santa Elena. You can easily get the colectivo for 25 QTZ to flores, and it drops you back in centre of El Remate. Sometimes they even go to your hostel along the main road if you ask nicely. A few restaurants and shops but the highlight is definitely the views of the lake, sunset over the water, sitting on the dock!

El Remate is a small relaxed village near Flores but with a very different vibe. The lake is amazing to swim in and to be around and the howler monkeys place in the trees above the streets. Beautiful hidden location

Amazing experience!
Amazing experience! Real nature immersive experience but only a half hour away from town. Definitely consider all options (and reviews!!) when choosing accommodation.. the range is large and a little bit of a splurge goes a loooong way.
The lake is peaceful and truly picture perfect, well worth the trip for sunrise and sunset alone. Pick a place with kayaks/paddleboards included!

I liked the comidors tipico. Authentic local food.
I liked the comidors tipico. Authentic local food. Everything is within walking distance. Small town. The sunsets and stargazing here are top notch. I would avoid Tienda El Remate. The guy charged me more for the same product 3 days in a row. When I told him the price was higher than the day before, he shrugged me off and walked away. There are plenty of other tiendas in town. Great location for visiting Tikal- only about a 40 minute shuttle. If you plan to do a sunrise tour of Tikal, you should consider getting your ticket at a Banrural before arriving here.

El Remate is a small lake side town.
El Remate is a small lake side town. We thought it was perfect on our trip to Tikal. After visiting the ruins you can enjoy the view on the lake or jump in and cool off. in comparison to Flores it is not very touristy and if you visit a restaurant you will be treated as a friend. It is for sure a fun place to relax.
The staff were so attentive right from the beginning and they knew us by name from arrival. We were upgraded to a suite as we were on our honeymoon which was extra special. It was a huge and very comfortable room, a bit more hidden from the rest of the complex. Unfortunately my husband was sick during our stay - Noé and Ana Lucia were so helpful in suggesting medications and had a special local tea remedy sent to our suite which was a nice touch. There is a lovely vibe to the hotel and it feels very relaxed.
All the food from the restaurant was delicious! The rooms were spacious. The property had many different spaces for relaxing and lounging. We loved the coffee on the patio every morning and the staff was outstanding! We hired Luis for guiding us in Tikal and he was a superb birder! My husband is a birder and he was the perfect match for us! We hired him to guide us on 2 additional trips while we were there. So glad the hotel connected us with him. Thanks so much!
It's absolutely fantastic we booked 2 days but stayed 4 and didn't really want to go.
The hotel is so beautiful, the rooms are perfect, comfortable and you have pricacy.
Personel are really kind, funny, relaxed and helpful. They are happy to show you the animals who live close by..
The view over the lake is unbeatable.
The area and the lake are clean, because of the awareness of the importance of the nature.
Just visit, you will love it here! .
This family-run hotel is a great choice. The host is so friendly and speaks very good English. Check in is very fast and easy. The room is very clean and air-conditioning is very powerful.
We parked the car in the courtyard inside the hotel with gates, very safe.
It is a wonderful stay after visiting Tikal.
We booked very early so we had a great price. The host honored the price, unlike some other hotels on this trip, asking us to pay more.
Like a great Adirondack camp from the late 19th/early 20th century, the kind the Rockefellers and Whitneys built. But transported to Guatemala. The lakefront is fabulous, the common areas are impressive. We were on “half-board”. Both breakfasts and dinners were excellent; stayed 5 nights, never had the same meal twice. Staff was cheerful, courteous, helpful. Lola was the prefect hostess.
Very pleased we stayed in El Remate as it was close to Tikal and the border with Belize. The hotel / our room had lake views and we swan from the dock close by.
The room was very clean , we had the end room so had the best view. Nice balcony and close to shops and restaurants .
Friendly owner , Humberto, organised a great tour to Tikal ( 5:30 am pickup ) with a group.
Really tranquil spot in El Remate. Very well constructed and designed with health and leisure in mind. Staffs were very nice. Had a family room which was large with nice features. We were dropped off by a shuttle in El Remate by the main road; about a 2 mile walk to the hotel or you could likely take a tuk tuk.
It was too hot in June to use the lake (there is limited shade in that area) so used the pool. There weren’t many people there when we stayed so service was hit or miss. The tours were very pricey, especially a boat taxi to Flores. The hotel itself is clean and nice.
A brilliant place to stay in El Remate. Dimitri and Nathalie are thoughtful hosts and they have created a little paradise, where toucans flies from the trees of the gardens. The food is excellent and we had a wonderful stay.
The location was amazing, and the property is beautiful, well maintained, and the most delicious Guatemalan breakfast. I will definitely recommend Alice Guesthouse to anyone visiting Tikal and its beautiful surroundings.
The hotel is very nice, food is pricey but good, the staff is so friendly and the beach is beautiful. you can listen to birds and monkeys hawling all day.
