The NH Collection was well located in La Floresta, a safe neighbourhood you can walk around in. It’s over the road from the Swiss Hotel, where you can buy tickets for the HOHO tour bus, a 10-15 minute walk away. Our 12th floor room was large with a great view down to the centro storico. On reflection though, a room on a lower level would have been better, to help as we acclimatised to the elevation. The food was really good- much better than the Hilton Colon and on a par with the Marriott. The staff were friendly and helpful and it was keenly priced. Overall it was a good choice.

A really exquisitely restored old Quito house - far more beautiful than the pictures do justice - right in the heart of the Old City, with huge rooms, comfy beds, and wonderful, super friendly and helpful hosts. Felt safe at all times. The owners made restaurant recommendations at our behest and both were superb. Bed was very comfortable and enormous. They even have a wine room with decent bottles sold with almost no mark up. Why would anyone choose to stay anywhere else in Quito!

Historic center was vibrant and scenic. Enjoyed visiting the Basilica as well as the magnificent Church of the Franciscans and the colorful architecture and plazas. Enjoyed the chocolate tasting at Mundo, delicious traditional Andean cuisine at Runa Tulpa Andina and excellent continental cuisine at La Vid in the Archbishop's Palace. There was 360 degree view of city from the Statue of the Virgin Panecillo at top of Quito. A major highlight was the tour of the Capilla del Hombre and the home of the artist, Oswaldo Guayasamin.

Due to current political issues in Ecuador, we were a little apprehensive about making the trip. However, only minutes after we landed in Quito we fell in love. The airport is amazingly clean and has all the amenities you would want. Quito, the La Carolina area, was extremely clean and very secure. The shopping was fantastic and there were tons of restaurants to choose from. All that said, we were most surprised by how reasonably priced everything was.
Also, a lot of bars do not take credit cards. Ecuador uses the American dollar, so have some on hand so you don't have an awkward experience.
We would definitely make the trip again.

We were just there one night to experience the city having spent a few nights in the mountains near Pifo.
Loved the crazy city - beautiful architecture. Lots of security/police presence which made it feel safe. My partner was unwell so I explored the city solo - I was approached by a policeman who gave me a map and ensured I was safe/aware of where to walk etc.
It is easy to travel by foot. I would have liked longer but feel 2-3 nights would have been plenty.

We stayed 2 nights in Quito.
We stayed 2 nights in Quito. We had one full day in Quito, which was not enough. We happened to be there during Carnivale. We took a cab to the Basilica and then walked to Independance square to observe the celebration. Later we had a great meal in the nearby hall.

I was robbed on the third day I was in Quito.
I was robbed on the third day I was in Quito. A pickpocket stole my wallet and I lost USD 200. The police didn't seem to care and most couldn't speak English. Every single day I was harassed by beggars, some of whom were very aggressive. I didn't feel safe in Quito and became paranoid. I couldn't wait to leave. I would NEVER return to Ecuador and probably not any other country in South America. There is a nationwide state of emergency now, and it's very dangerous. I advise my fellow Americans to avoid Ecuador like the plague unless you go straight to the Galapagos Islands. Ecuador is by far the worst country I've ever been to and I've traveled all over the world.

It's an old city, with lots of history and historical buildings. Many museums, often free. The surrounding mountains are beautiful and the climate is excellent.
Most of the people I met were friendly and willing to help a confused stranger. There are some beggars, and some unsavory areas, as with any sizable city.
I highly recommend visiting Wikiri Sapoparque if you're an animal lover. It's a great and unique experience.
Everything was amazing.
Staff were top notch both at reception (David)and at the restaurant (Chris).
The view was just unbelievable, morning and night time.
Location was amazing close to the centre.
The breakfast was served so beautifully and the dinner was so great too.
The night view of Quito took our breath away.
I got laundry done too and it was reasonably priced.
The hotel organised pick up and drop which were both excellent too.
If I ever went to Quito again ,I would stay here without a doubt.
Brilliant.
This boutique hotel used to be the Turkish Embassy. It has 6 rooms, I suspect all suites (ours was). The manager was friendly and made us feel like we were at home. He went out of his way to arrange for anything we asked for. Dinner, prepared by a new graduate from the local culinary school, was a delight. it was made especially for us and we were the only one there. It is like having your own staff in a luxury home. Almost worth the trip to Quito just to stay here. Best hotel I have stayed in anywhere.
We had an amazing stay! The location is perfect - close to just about everything (the old town, good restaurants and bars, various sightseeing destinations); the hotel itself was really cute and quaint...breakfast was really nice, and most importantly Francisco, the hotel manager who does just about everything, and his staff were amazing. This boutique hotel is the definition of hospitality...if you're going to Quito, give this hotel try - you won't be disappointed!
I really enjoyed my stay here at El Patio! The hosts are lovely and accommodating! Central location to explore all the sites of Quito including the nightlife, but also a quiet vibe to relax and rest after long hikes. Modern, spacious and clean! Planning on making this my home base as I explore around Ecuador, and can’t wait to return! Ask Johana and Cyntia for coffee and lunch recommendations here in the neighborhood! They won’t disappoint!
Hernan and Gloria make this hotel into the best place you could stay at in Quito (the hotel itself is also very nice, clean and in a great location). You can check-in and out as it works best, breakfast at any time, they can organize all types of activities and shuttles across Ecuador for you at better prices than uber or agencies and help you however they can! Highly recommend to stay there, I would any time :)
Very nice design, good location in Old Town. The rooftop bar offers a great view over Quito and a nice Canelasso.
The staff was very helpful and friendly.
The bed was very comfortable and it was the first hotel in Quito where we did not have to complain about not having hot water.
We couldn’t have breakfast, but got nice breakfast boxes and coffee to go!
The Casa Joaquin is a small well run hotel with the most serviceminded and kind manager. A very cosy atmosphere and pleasantly quiet. You can walk to the old town in 20 minutes, passing through a park with wonderful old trees, or the manager will call you a taxi. We really enjoyed our stay, and can recomend The Casa for those who wish to explore Quito.
exceptional value. the staff was wonderful and kind and they made sure everything was perfect for us. they allowed our kids to play with their dogs and brought us a yummy warm drink for our family. it’s well placed in Quito Old Town. there was some street noise but it was manageable. I would stay here again!
The hotel is right in the center of Old town, close to everything
However, the location is on one of the busiest streets, hence really a lot of noise interfering with good rest..
Beds are not comfortable :(
Very pleasant and helpful team
Everything looks very dated. They are really due for a clean up
Modern, clean and comfortable. More of a boutique hotel than a hostel. Really friendly and helpful staff and pretty well located. Short walk to La Floresta and cheap taxi ride to old town. Lovely little terrace as well. . Recommend this place wholeheartedly.
Super trendy home Service, super Homemade including breckfast, very nice open terrace for yoga or make open kamin fire with city quito view ,
Central and quite , very nice ecuador room design , very frendly owner , super price all together top 10😁👍
Beautiful hotel in a very central location to the Old Town. Delicious restaurant food, nice bar and overall very attentive staff and good service. Lobby filled with beautiful fresh Ecuadorian roses. Filtered water fountain in lobby is helpful.
Perfectly located hotel right in the city centre. The couple that run Hostal Benalcazar are lovely and extremely hospitable. They made our short stay in Quito very memorable and helped us with all of our queries.
The staff is friendly and very helpful. The terrace view is amazing, I spent great time there. Room was little bit cold, breakfast was yummy, and definitely recommend this hotel for your Ecuador trip.
I came here with my girlfriend to propose. The hotel staff went out of there to help me plan and get anything I needed. They were all so nice and one of the best places I’ve stayed in Ecuador!
Lovely small hotel close to everything in Quito’s old town. The rooms are comfortable and quiet, the rooftop bar has a great view of the city and the breakfast is exceptional
Terrific apartment in the old town of Quito. Manager was always available and very helpful. Lots of space. Clean. And it was fun browsing through the library of books.
