I will tell anyone coming to Sri Lanka - stay with Ravi at Margosa Mountain Villa. Best stay on our trip and top 5 lifetime. Stunning setting. Perfect room. Delicious food -organic rice, fruit, fish etc. right from the property, expertly cooked by Ravi’s wife Sewwandi. Pool is sublime. Birds galore (and easy to find and ID with Ravi’s help). Booked for two days. Stayed for 4. Great spot for excursions Dambulla, Sigiriya, and beyond, but we were happy just to relax and meditate on our good fortune to be there. Ravi spent 23 years as tour guide and it shows both in his care and expertise. I know this review sounds like a plug from one of his friends but I promise that 5 days ago we’d never met. But, yes, we have definitely made a new friend. Stay as long as you can.

We had an amazing 11 days stay here :) Spacious, clean, sunny, great breakfast and great value for money, big kitchen, beautiful garden, and amazing hosts! Super helpful and communicative. We didn’t feel like guests or tourists in the town, we felt as if this was our home, it was nice for us to be in a neighborhood with locals as well, so it was perfect for a long terms stay. The bedroom was very comfortable, there was AC but we switched mostly to using the ceiling fans because they were so strong and effective :) It’s Close to the train station (we had a perfect day trip to Galle and we took the train) and also close to bus stops. There is a quiet beach just a few minutes away, feels like our own private beach, we didn’t see other tourists there, there’s a relaxed restaurant too for any meal or drink you may want. although the waves seemed strong so we didn’t go in the water. Very short Tuktuk ride to Weligama, also close to mirissa, and we also enjoyed riding to madiha as well. The breakfasts were so good! Best value for money, perfect mix of super authentic Sri Lankan food and western staples (there were always eggs). we loved the fun cakes!! And enjoyed trying the foods we didn’t see at restaurants. We were super lucky we were the only guests there, so we had a perfect stay. The villa is a really good option for a group, or a family, because the kitchen and couch and balcony are technically common-shared with the other guests. Also a good choice if you are renting a Tuktuk or motorcycle because you will have the driveway or front yard to park it.

We had the most amazing time at Leel’s Safari cottage! The room was perfect—super clean, beautifully designed, with air conditioning and a hot water. You can really tell how much effort they put into making everything just right. It felt so cozy and welcoming. The garden outside was lovely—well-kept, peaceful, and such a nice place to relax. And the food… wow! The meals cooked by Leel’s mom and his wife were the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Thank you both for making every meal so special! We also did the sunrise safari with Leel, and it was incredible🌅 He’s so professional and knows the park so good. He explained everything so calmly and made sure we didn’t miss anything. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thank you so much, Leel, for an unforgettable stay. It was exceptional, my daughter and I were alone in the hotel and on the property, which is a one-time experience. We enjoyed the team, the owner, the spice garden tour with explanations, the superb pool and grounds, the frogs at night and birds and monitors by day, the unavoidable ants, and the fresh fruit & veggies. It is the perfect stay upon arrival or before departure, since it is not far from the international airport in Colombo. It is cozy, with much comfort, good service, and the 9 rooms spread into 6 pavilions make it seem very intimate. There is an ayurvedic treatment spa, and it is perfect to recharge, work remotely (which I did while overseeing my 7 y.o. in the pool), and laze around. Book 2 nights minimum for improved appreciation before heading to your Sri Lankan discovery tour & adventures!

1. Hotel is fresh and new and of really a good quality. Nothing experienced heavy usage like in Riff - the only real 5* competitor on Hikka beach 2. I got Deluxe suite with Seaview for the price of a regular room cos the hotel just started to work and had not much of guests. 3. Room has excellent sleeping conditions which is rare on Shri: blind curtains & you can sleep with ac on without a risk to catch cold. Priceless.

Simply stunningly beautiful hotel set in acres of farm land. Such a fabulous place to relax and unwind. Loved the farm tour, so interesting, and the pool was wonderful. Delicious food and incredible staff!

Location is great, short walking distance to everything but also quiet and peaceful villa. Lovely staff and amazing breakfast! Helped us arrange transfer and massage too:)

This was our favorite accommodation in all of Sri Lanka! Sadly, we only stayed one night, our last night in Sri Lanka. We wished we had stayed longer! Our room was very spacious and comfortable. We arrived early in the day and enjoyed using the pool and the poolside loungers while we waited for our room to be ready. Peter and Glenda are such wonderful hosts. So kind and welcoming. And this was, by far, the best included breakfast we had at any of our accommodations. Highly recommend Plantation House.
