Delft is a picturesque Dutch city with canals and historic buildings, situated between Rotterdam and The Hague. Birthplace of the famous Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer, this destination is also home to the iconic Delft blue porcelain and the University of Technology.
Like a phoenix from the ashes, the 17th century Town Hall of Delft was destroyed on 1618 and rebuilt by the architect Hendrick de Keyser. Located across from the City Hall in the centre of the Market square, the Protestant church of Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) with the imposing tower is connected with the Dutch Royal Family.
Resting place for Piet Hein, Maarten Tromp and Johannes Vermeer, the Oude Kerk (Old Church) was built in 1240 and is one of the main landmarks of the city along with the Prinsenhof. Booking.com offers a variety of apartments and hotels in the centre of Delft.
The Delftware factories with the blue ceramics and the hand-painted porcelain are definitely something that travellers should not miss while visiting the Netherlands. Weather permitting, you can enjoy a local beer on a canal terrace.
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is about 40 minutes away by car or public transport. Delft railway station has train connections to Amsterdam, Utrecht and Leiden.

Central or old Delft is well worth a visit.
Central or old Delft is well worth a visit. It’s on a human scale. The two big churches are beautiful, the working windmill is charming and the Vermeer Centrum is interesting. We particularly enjoyed how peaceful the town is, with great crested grebes, coots and other waterfowl swimming in its serene canals. Cyclists outnumber motorists and the town has a youthful atmosphere owing to the university. Shops and restaurants offer very good products, food and service at reasonable prices. Above all, the people are very helpful and friendly.

Delft is a lovely place and I hope to take my wife next time as the food, bars and atmosphere in the centre was lovely.
The many bars and places to eat will suit most people and they are all (well the ones I tried) were reasonably priced. I will certainly go back again - and hopefully not involving a business trip.

lots of history and wealth, as well as blossoming tech research. loved the climb up the tower of the "new-church", scary, felt like touching the clouds. it was interesting to find out how local politics evolved around water management as a crucial part of life.

In view of my review of the hotel, I would recommend Delft but not the hotel particularly because of the noise issue and disagreeable frying smells in the morning.
If those things get sorted I will be happy to book at this hotel again.

Delft is a great destination for a weekend getaway, not only if you are interested in visiting historical places like Prinsenhof museum, the Old Church or the New Church but also if you want to have a relaxing weekend enjoying the picturesque canals of Delft. I would highly recommend to visit The Paul Tetar van Elven Museum, where you can admire the remarkable paintings and also the porcelain collection as well as the very well-preserved furniture.

My hotel experience ruined my short stay in Delft.
My hotel experience ruined my short stay in Delft. The staff I had to deal with were so rude. There was no service. I was made to feel to be a problem. But they wanted my money as they would not refund me so I could stay somewhere else.
I had such a bad experience I spent an hour looking at moving hotels. Which was my precious touristing time. So I did not see the main sites of Delft.
I booked this hotel for my parents and they absolutely loved it. They stayed in the senior suite room and the room actually felt bigger than what you see from the picture. The bathroom was huge with a big clean bath tub, shower, and a sauna! The sauna was so big and easy to use. It is located in the very center of Delft so you can reach anywhere on foot. The staffs were so kind and sweet. It was around 28 degrees outside but with the window open and a nice fan in the room, it felt quite chill. Highly recommended!
It would be hard to find a better location than this canal side hotel on the Oude Delft, which is lined with 18th century buildings. Quieter than most central hotels but just around the corner from the best shops and restaurants and close to Markt and Stadthuis . Our junior suite had a superb view over two canals. The size was generous and offered very good value. Comfortable bed and good breakfast buffet. We were grateful for the fact that it offered secure bike storage in the centre of the city.
The staff were very friendly and the hotel has a great location, a stone's throw from the Delft railway station. It's in an old building, but it has a homely charm. The room and bed was comfortable and, although there was a little wear and rear in the room, it seemed to have been properly cleaned. I paid roughly 100 Euros for a night, including breakfast, which was good value for money in my book. I'll happily stay there again if I have to spend a night in Delft in the future.
The location of the property was very close to the centre of Delft, everything was within walking distance. The breakfast was very good, very well presented, of good quality and generous. The apartment was spacious, quiet and comfortable. It was very clean. There were many thoughtful and welcoming touches. The hostesses were helpful and welcoming, they provided assistance on arrival showing us exactly where to park, where the shops are etc.
It was a characterful (rustic) B&B in a good location - we walked into Delft and back once (that was a lot of walking when added to walking round Delft); on a second trip into Delft, we parked in the free car park the hotel suggested, reducing the extra walking. Although there was no fridge in the room, there was a communal fridge for guests which worked well. The bedroom was exceptionally large with a good table and chairs at one end.
The hotel is in a great location near all the landmarks of Delft and in proximity with several nice bars and restaurants. The hotel's building is very charming and the rooms on both sides have great views on either the Nieuwe Kerk or the canal. I recommend paying extra for the breakfast, as it was very much worth it. The rooms are for the most part spacious and well kept. Beds are comfortable. Staff is very attentive.
The hotel had interesting, eclectic decor, not just the usual universal hotel decor. There was a bit more than the basic kitchen set-up. The bathroom was spacious and had a bath. We were on the top, attic level floor, but there was an elevator! The location was right in the old city of Delft and we could walk everywhere easily. The bed was spacious and comfortable. An electric fan was provided.
The hotel was easy to find, beautifully furnished and the room was very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and breakfast room were very helpful. The location was excellent being close to the main square and numerous eateries. I will give serious consideration to visiting Delft again and staying in this hotel.
Lovely traditional hotel, great location in central Delft, comfortable and practical room, and very friendly and helpful staff. Nice and quiet at night despite being just off the Beestenmarkt square with good restaurants and bars. Very decent value for money. I would very happily stay there again!
The hotel is the best choice for someone traveling for work, but not only. It is across the street to the station, to the bus and tram stops making it easy to travel everywhere. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Very clean. The room was comfortable. I recommend it.
It was a comfortable room with a big bed and a fridge. It even had a bathtub. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quality hotel that doesn't cost too much. We didn't have the breakfast, but it looked fine. They also give you free coffee and tea all day.
Accessible with parking available, my stay was short but was only a short walk to Delft City centre.
Hotel had a good atmosphere and a good choice of food at breakfast
