A paradisical property with a location blessed with water views of the lake-like dam and the massive Peñol rock. The property is lovingly curated with flora and props and walking trails that offer beautiful frames for postcard pictures from almost anywhere on the grounds. I definitelywould recommend staying at least overnight to be able to enjoy Guatape. The day trip just doesn't cover it. Plus a bonus is being able to walk around in the morning when nobody is around!

We absolutely enjoyed our stay in the cute little town of Guatape. We climbed up the Piedra del penol rock and the views are mind-blowing. We also enjoyed our stay at La Pausa hotel with stellar lakefront views. Loved Guatape:)

I spent 3 nights in Guatapé. Lovely town.
I spent 3 nights in Guatapé. Lovely town. Such a relaxed vibe. I think it’s a shame to just come on a day trip to take of few photos of colourful buildings. It’s a nice place to stroll the streets, especially in the evening, with many great restaurant options. I could have stayed longer. There are plenty of things to do like go on a boat tour, or climb la piedra. Walk throughout the streets and shop or chat with the friendly locals. Or just relax with a coffee and a treat at the many cafe’s, or a beer at one of the pubs. If you are not in a rush to cram everything into a day, I’d recommend staying at least a night.

What a colorful town.
What a colorful town. I read so many people do just a day trip but I’m so glad we spent the night. I wish we would’ve spent 2 nights. You have to climb the piedra but also give yourself enough time in the town itself. We did a boat ride but I wish we would’ve had more time to do other water activities as it’s just so pretty.

Gutape is cool, not polluted and so safe that people leave doors open. I wasn't given a pavilion key and the door could easily be opened if the nearby window was open. There are two main towns, El Penol and Guatape. El Penol is larger and more everyday paced; Guatape has restaurants by the dozens to cater to the tourists from Medellin, Colombia, and, increasingly, from another continent. The altitude is such that it is between 62 and 78 F. year round; however, global warming seems to have raised the maximal temperature to 80F. or a bit more. The "lake" is beautiful, steep promontories along a winding "coastline", dotted with secondary homes of wealthy Colombians for the most part. Last notice is that the place is above 1800 meters and I had altitude sickness, which would have dissipated over a few days. The only tourist landmark is a giant black rock that Colombians seem to find attractive and they can climb to the top. I found it a dark, mass that ruined the overall scenery. To each his own.

Busy but charming town. Lovely waterfront.
Busy but charming town. Lovely waterfront. Makes every effort to entice you to buy beautiful things you don’t need. These are well-made crafts. Charming houses. A bit noisy with most cafes playing loud music, although I found one playing delightful piano jazz and I lingered there. A few hours in town was enough for me, though, and I was glad I stayed a few km away.
Everything! The room design was stunning, so was the whole area around it. Every detail was special and had some creativity in it. We loved how artistic everything was and it looks even better than in the pictures! The hotel manager Sony was extremely reliable and helped us quickly with everything we needed. It was an exceptional experience staying here and we left with so much inspiration🫶🏼
This was probably one of the most beautiful and unique hotels we have ever stayed at. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, the villas so charming, clean and private, the location is beautiful, the restaurant was absolutely exceptional and the two hotel dogs, Oliva and milo charmed every last member of our family. If you’re coming to this region, Hotel La Pausa is an absolute must!
The view is stunning! The garden of the hotel is like 5 stars - you can enjoy it endlessly. The view over the laguna and the En Penol is spectacular. The pool was super great and well heated. There is access to rent kanoes/boats. The hotel is located at 10 min drive to Guatape and everyone that wants calm place and relax and is ok with basic accomodation can go for this hotel
This place is very spectacular. It is located in between El Penol and Guatape. 20 mins tuk tuk ride to the Rock. It is nearby the lake and the view is amazing. The common area, restaurant, lake side, bar and hammocks are very well designed, feels like you are in a retreat hotel. Restaurant is efficient and prices are good. Staff is I would love to stay there again.
location was away from the main hub, so thats a plus.. the food was very good, no need to go to another place to eat except for just entertainment value.. NO a/c( but, cook at nights so not needed for sleep), no elevator for wheelchair assistance, tight parking below bldg, nothing super exciting about hotel, but, it was very clean and modern..
The staff at the Praia restaurant are friendly and the food there is good. There is a beautiful view from the cabana. We did not stay in the hotel side of this accommodation, but we went up to look and the pool area looked beautiful. Also the hotel reception staff member we spoke to up there was friendly and helpful.
Right from the moment we arrived we were made most welcome the staff were amazing and accommodating to all our requests. The facilities and location are perfect for a quiet get away with family and friends. I highly recommend that you choose Jordan Hotel Boutique when staying at Guatape.
The hotel is perfect. The room was extremely nice. It’s a little small but comfortable. Food is really good as well. They have a nice bar with the good cocktails. The fire pit is nice we roasted marshmallows. (you have to get your marshmallow equipment in town.)
Great location, only a 15 minute walk into Guatapé. Seeing the morning sun on the lake while enjoying a healthy and filling break every morning was beautiful.
Loved the free hot water and coffee.
Beds were also comfy and the dorm was spacious.
The staff very helpful ...Room very Romantic style very clean ...the view was amazing and you can enjoy the Penol its right across would definitely stay here again if I would go visit Guatape again enjoyed everything about the hotel.
Amazing staff at this small hotel just on the edge of Guatape. Much quieter than staying at the city center and a wonderful view of the piedra. Would be even better when the water levels are back up!
The cabin was OK—nothing crazy. The view is OK, and the place is quiet enough to relax. In retrospect, I wish I had stayed closer to town. I will definitely do that if I go back to Guatape.
This hotel is amazing. The staff was very helpful.. The view from my room was beautiful. I will definitely recommend this hotel and come back. Thank you for your kindness.
The location was great with a fantastic view and close to La Piedra. The receptionist of the hotel spoke good English. Guatape is nice to walk around and have a beer.
Service and the food. The views were wonderful. The hotel arranged multiple transportation for us from tuk-tuks to airport taxis. This is the place to stay.
We loved the location and the views. We loved the way customer service handled themselves through my complains related to the hotel versus cabins stays.
