A self-guided walking tour exploring waterfalls, lakes and volcanic land

On this self-guided tour, you’ll be able to explore the scenery of the famous Tongariro Crossing. The approximately seven-hour hike will guide you to colourful lakes, craters and panoramic views of the region. You’ll have the opportunity to learn more about the area from the provided audio guide.

You’ll be able to see views of Mount Ruapehu, an active stratovolcano located in the Taupo Volcanic Zone, as well as the waterfalls of Soda Springs. Your journey will also include stops at the colourful Emerald Lakes and the Totara Forest.
