On this guided tour of the Western Lake District, you’ll follow a route pioneered by the Romans through mountain passes and scenic countryside vistas.

Starting with a drive across the Hardknott Pass, you’ll catch a glimpse of the remains of a 2nd-century Roman fort before descending into the valley of Eskdale. You’ll then travel along the Wrynose Pass, making a stop to take in the view of England’s deepest lake, Wastwater. From this lake, you can see the peak of Scafell Pike in the distance.

You’ll round off the tour with a drive by Coniston Water, which is famous due to its connection to Donald Campbell.
